Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I am still floating. Mom and baby are doing well. I had to come home so I haven't seen him in over 24 hours but mom said he is eating on his own and she got to feed and hold him last night. My brother is one proud papa. She is doing well and may get out Saturday. Bruce will be there at least two more weeks.

Congratulations!! I may be biased ;) , but I think preemies are the cutest babies. (My preemie is eighteen years old, 6' 4" tall, and 160 lbs.) He's leaving for college in the fall. I will keep your little guy in my prayers.

Hi

Congrats to all

My daughter and I will pray as well, as we do for all the mommies and babies at my work, I work with the newborns not as a nurse but a Tech, I love my job and see plenty of babies down in the NICU and at time we will get a 34 weeker, as long as he is eating, are the giving him extra cals to help him along with mom nursing. He will do just fine as long as nothing happens, infection wise, remember preemies are susseptal to getting the dredded RSV, but I'm sure mom will not let any body hold him when going home without washing up or who have colds.

Update: Bruce is doing fine. He has a feeding tube in his nose to help supplement bottle feedings. He lost several ouces but is now back up to 4 pounds 8 ounces. He is just so wonderful. Mom is doing well, she got out Saturday but is staying at a Ronald McDonald house until he gets out. My brother will stay with her this week and her step-daughter the next. By then Bruce should be able to come home. I've got to touch him through the isolette and talk to him. He opens his eyes and wil look around when daddy talks. Thanks for all the prayers, thoughts, and concerns.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
