What special things, exactly, happen when we become members of the 500-plus club?

My husband is thinking the same thing lately. He will have 20 yrs in what he is doing now. He will get some retirement if he retires in auguast. But he is unsure what he wants to go into. He is only 40 years old, so he has many options. He is too grumpy working now and it is affecting us all. He is just worrying about getting a new job and insurance, with me and his son being celiac. I always tell him he can retire and i can work but im not well enough to work full time yet.

We use to talk about taking over the farm that we have, but now that I am celiac and so is his son, We can not take over the farm.

Oregan is such an beautiful state, i bet it is easy to take beautiful pics up there.

Yah, my wife doesn't qualify for early retirement until 2013, another 6 years...she works at the same company. At that time we will likely leave and never look back. With me it is not the work I do that is the problem. I need to feel valued, not like a piece of meat, and if I feel my company doesn't treat it's employees well, that bothers me. I've seen 25+ year employees let go and their job sent to China or India. IMO, there isn't much worse corporate behavior than that. Plus, it's the loss of much knowledge and experience just to save a $$. Don't get me wrong, I have as much vested interest in seeing my company be successful as anyone, I just don't like the human cost. In our society, greed is king, sometimes to sickening levels. You don

I think you can put a custom phrase under your stats on the left of your posts - rather than Advanced Community Member, or whatever is there now.

Not sure what else. Maybe we should create a list of demands. :D

Maybe we get to try to lead that cow down a flight of stairs...

Maybe Bill Gates will just pay for the installation of an escalator.

Yes, I think that 500 posts is a milestone worth really celebrating. We could have a Fortune 500 party...only those at 500 posts can come.

Carla is so happy that Susan remembered to have conversations with Jerry in the third person.

elye Community Regular

Wow, Emily forgot all about that third-person thing with Jerry...Maybe something REALLY magical will happen if I'm talking in the third person singular when I hit 500 posts!

CarlaB Enthusiast

Carla is so glad Emily finally remembered. Carla also can't wait until Jerry starts talking in the third person OUTSIDE of the forum and has to explain to his real friends that this is how Jerry talks to his internet friends ... they already think Jerry's nuts for eating gluten-free!

Susan is easily amused and is glad Carla is happy

Susan thinks that Emily can/may (Susan knows she is speaking to a language teacher, here:)) speak in third person singular BEFORE the 500th post. ;)

Ohhhhh...you're not another Toronto fan, are you? No Toronto fans are allowed past 500 posts, you know... :P

Susan does not like talk of sports on this thread about nothing. no, no, no. Well, at least it's not football. Susan HATES any mention of a certain team in her native town.

But I will forgive you the hockey talk.

Um, it IS hockey we're speaking of, right?

Susan is finished, Susan is avoiding the dread task of extreme cleaning for houseguests, and if you see me on here again, SCREAM at me to go.

Harrumph!

Hmm, what will I put under my Avatar....good question!

I think perhaps something witty like:

"Testing 1-2-3"

"What the heck should I put here?"

"500 posts...now what?"

"Gluten for regularity"

"So much bread...so little time to spend in the bathroom"

"Gluten, when a laxative isn't enough"

So many options;)

Hi @knitty kitty  Just revisiting this to get some help. I found after understanding the extent of my anxiety, my sleep got a little better. Flash forward to a few weeks later I have had a few bad sleeps in a row and I feel desperate for a good nights sleep. I understand worrying about it won’t help but one thing I had tied things too was dairy. Initially when I went gluten free I felt great for the first few weeks then started having some stomach pain. So thought maybe I was lactose intolerant. I started eating lactose free Greek yogurt and that did help take the cramping away I guess. Over the last few months I haven’t eaten it every single day and I went a few weeks without it. The last few nights I did have a small amount with breakfast and noticed that was the only new thing I’ve really added to my diet. I had seen a few other posts about this. Is it possible to still react to lactose free? Would this potentially be a dairy allergy? Or something else.

I have taken the vitamins for a week. Haven't noticed any major changes but I will give it more time to see.

@Charlie1946,  Sorry I sidetracked your thread a bit.  Apologies. Proton pump inhibitors, like Omeprazole, change the pH in our gastrointestinal systems which allows opportunistic microbes to move in and take over.  Have you been checked for SIBO?  There's a significant link between length of Omeprazole use and SIBO.  I had SIBO, thrush (Candida) and lichen planus and other problems while I was on Omeprazole.  I had to stop taking it.  It was a horrible time, so I understand how painful and frustrating it is.   You change your microbiome (the bacteria and microbes living inside you) by changing what you eat.  They eat what you eat.  Change the menu and you get different customers.   I changed my diet.  I cut out dairy because I was reacting to the casein and lactose.  I cut out all processed foods and most carbohydrates. I ate meat and veggies mostly, some fruit like apples and mandarin oranges.  By cutting out all the excess carbohydrates, lactose, and empty carbs in processed gluten-free foods, the opportunistic microbes get starved out.  SIBO bacteria send chemical messages to our brains demanding more carbs, so be prepared for carb cravings, but don't let the microbiome control you!   The skin and digestive system is continuous.  The health of our outside skin reflects the health of our gastrointestinal system.  Essential B vitamins, like Thiamine B 1 and especially Niacin B 3, are needed to repair intestinal damage and keep bad bacteria in check.  Niacin helps improve not only the intestinal tract, but also the skin.  Sebaceous Hyperplasia is linked to being low in Niacin B 3.  Lichen Planus is treated with Niacinamide, a form of Niacin B 3.   Vitamins are chemical compounds that our bodies cannot make.  We must get them from our food.  If our food isn't digested well (low stomach acid from Omeprazole causes poor digestion), then vitamins aren't released well.  Plus there's a layer of SIBO bacteria absorbing our vitamins first between the food we've eaten and our inflamed and damaged villi that may have difficulty absorbing the vitamins.  So, taking vitamin supplements is a way to boost absorption of essential nutrients that will allow the body to fight off the microbes, repair and heal.   Doctors are taught in medical learning institutions funded by pharmaceutical companies.  The importance of nutrition is downplayed and called old fashioned.  Doctors are taught we have plenty to eat, so no one gets nutritional deficiency diseases anymore.  But we do, as people with Celiac disease, with impaired absorption.  Nutritional needs need to be addressed first with us.  Vitamins cannot be patented because they are natural substances.  But pharmaceutical drugs can be.  There's more money to be made selling pharmaceutical drugs than vitamins.   Makes me wonder how much illness could be prevented if people were screened for Celiac disease much earlier in life, instead of after they've been ill and medicated for years.   Talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing essential vitamins and minerals.   Interesting Reading: The Duration of Proton Pump Inhibitor Therapy and the Risk of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12250812/#:~:text=The long-term use of,overgrowth dynamics is less clear. My sebaceous hyperplasia and thrush disappeared when I stopped all dairy.

@knitty kitty Thank you so much for all that information! I will be sure to check it out and ask my doctor.  I am just at a loss, I am on my 2nd round of miracle mouthwash and I brush and scrape my tongue and (sorry this is gross) it's still coated in the middle
