See's Candy?

So I got a box of See's Candy from my daughter, for my birthday. I've been eating them with reckless abandon....and today I noticed I wasn't feeling all that great, especially this morning.

My symptoms were remarkably like they are when I eat gluten....fatigue,lethargy,depression,gastro,aches,pains etc...

This leads me to wonder if See's contain gluten?? I'm at work, so I can't look on the box. What little info I find on the Internet is conflicting. Anyone know?

I think they have their gluten info on the web site. I think some of them have gluten, but most don't.

This is old info but the last I heard, See's uses wheat flour on their line equipment to keep the candy from sticking. They may have become enlightened and stopped, but I'd check.

I'm not sure about this, but one thing to watch out for is different names for ingredients. For example, if there is Caramel Coloring in it...that's not good for gluten-free diets. There is a whole list of "no-no's" that you wouldn't even imagine. I had a diet soda the other day and my throat got clammy and my symptoms in my mouth flaired up...then I read the can. That was in it.

Well, it's sort of a moot point, now, since they are all gone. But I am suspicious of them. It's not like I got really sick, but I could tell I ate something that didn't make me feel great.

I saw a couple entries on the ingredients that made me suspicious..."modified food starch"...things like that. j

In North Amercia, caramel coloring is generally safe. Do a search on here and you will see it clarified.

      Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.

      He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.
