We are going to Minnosota in 2 1/2 wks for my BIL's wedding. He told me that the place that they were having the reception at wouldn't allow any outside food, and they were serving 1 meal and he didn't know if it was gluten-free or not. So I of course was very worried and starting to get a little stressed about the whole situation. So today I found the phone number to the reception place and called. The lady I spoke to was totally understanding! She gave me her email address and asked me to email her my name and what we needed. She said they would make our chicken seperatly and told me all the ingredients in the side dishes. Everything was safe except the chicken. So they will serve us baked or grilled chicken! And, I asked if we would bring in our own small cake, and she said that it was perfectly fine! So now I am so relieved!!

Glad it worked out for you. Please share the name of the restaurant or place. I had excellent experience with The Westwood here in Garwood NJ. They did two parties for me and provided gluten-free food to my husband. If they didn't know about gluten-free before they met me, they know about gluten-free now.

I'm so glad to hear about this. I think if celiacs just eat beforehand or stay home and never venture out and explain our needs to people, then it will never get easier. Kudos to you for your efforts!!

The reception is at Southwest Minnesota State University in the Student Center. They cater the events there themselves. The lady was so sweet!

      Is it gluten?

      Yes, I meant if you had celiac disease but went gluten-free before screening, your results would end up false-negative. As @trents mentioned, this can also happen when a total IGA test isn't done.

      What you’re describing is actually very common, and unfortunately the timing of the biopsy likely explains the confusion. Yes, it is absolutely possible for the small intestine to heal enough in three months on a strict gluten-free diet to produce a normal or near-normal biopsy, especially when damage was mild to begin with. In contrast, celiac antibodies can stay elevated for many months or even years after gluten removal, so persistently high antibody levels alongside the celiac genes and clear nutrient deficiencies strongly point to celiac disease, even if you don’t feel symptoms. Many people with celiac are asymptomatic but still develop iron and vitamin deficiencies and silent intestinal damage. The lack of immediate symptoms makes it harder emotionally, but it doesn’t mean gluten isn’t harming you. Most specialists would consider this a case of celiac disease with a false-negative biopsy due to early healing rather than “something else,” and staying consistently gluten-free is what protects you long-term—even when your body doesn’t protest right away.

      I found at Disney springs and Disney they have specialist that when told about dietary restrictions they come and talk to you ,explain cross contamination measures tsken and work with you on choices. Its the one place I dont worry once I've explained I have celiac disease.  Thier gluten free options are awesome.

      Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.
