I don't know if there is a support group in your area, but I found out recently that there is one in mine. If I'd known 7 months ago, I would have contacted them in a heartbeat! There might be someone close to you who has gone through this who would be more than glad to help you. There is a section here about support groups, you could ask there. Good luck! :)

:D marie--you can email me with questions if you want--you dont need to buy all new pants, but teflon should not be used for a celiac if it has been used otherwise--otay--you dont need to buy new dishes--just wash them very well--be very careful--some people say they fix the celiacs food first and then the others and clean the cupboards very good--u dont need to change the microwave and beleive me, it will become 2nd nature--my email addy is attached--feel free--deb ;)

Give yourself more than a week, though start the process now. It's a learning process, and you'll need time for it. Stick with the basics - no processed foods, just natural whole foods (they taste just fine and are healthy!). As for hardware - non non-stick pots and pans and other materials that won't absorb things don't need to be replaced, but I would replace plastic collanders (strainers) and wooden spoons. (And tupperware items that have pitted over time.)

My son, 3, was diagnosed in June and I know exactly where you are. First, and most importantly, know that in just about a month you'll feel like an old pro!

Second, admit now that you will make mistakes. It's not a big deal. It's just like any other "diet", you realize you made a mistake and just get right back on track.

How old is your son?

Feel free to email me if you need to. I will try very hard to get back to you ASAP.

Thanks everyone!! I am just now trying to buy up some of the things I will need to start off..My problem is what about lunches for school?? I am just so lost right now but am sure in time I will be ok with all this.I am changing the whole family so I know it will be hard but think it would be easier on James too.He is 8 and finds all this very unsettling..

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
