I just got glutened at a restaurant. I know I will be miserable for the next few days. What may I take to make my symptoms better

Not a lot will help but I take sublingual B12 and Pepto Bismal for the stomach pain. I hope you feel better soon.

After the first 24 hours or so I usually take some Imodium so I can have a break and get some uninterrupted sleep. Also, as much as I don't want to eat, I usually feel better if I have something on stomach. Small amounts of rice and applesauce work well for me.

Pedialyte is great for staying hydrated. I find making popsicles out of the Pedialyte makes it easier to get down and stay down.

I hope your symptoms pass quickly.

Depending on the type of symptoms you have, Immodium might do the trick.

Depends on your symptoms.

I take a sinus/allergy non drowsy med if I need to work because I get wicked sinus headaches from gluten and before I know it my shoulders are all tight & it's miserable. Rarely, if it is really bad, I take advil because tylenol never touches these headaches. However, advil does a number on my stomach so it has to be really bad !

I agree with the Pepto Bismal - I use the tablet form. Again, if I need to work that's what I take. Ha - if I'm working (I work at a pool and any glutening, esp. sinus issues, worsens in the pool atmosphere) I will be on tylenol, sinus med and pepto. Ugh - I try really hard not to gluten myself !

Fresh sliced or grated ginger in hot water with honey is a great anti-nauseant too. Make yourself sit, relax, and enjoy it (I cheat with jarred 'fresh' ginger).

I eat light after glutening - lots of fluids and once my tummy has settled a bit (um, bathroom trip wise), I try to get a little exercise in, seems to help bring me back around mood & energy wise.

Red Bull does wonders for that "hit by a bus" feeling. It also seems to help with brain fog and even minor body aches. I think its because it has such a high does of caffeine along with vitamins. Anyway, that seems to be the only thing that really helps me make it through the day after being glutened.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
