I would die if I had to figure out which foundation to wear with which blush.

and omg this is OT but there's a new Mango at celiac.com. Looks like the person joined today. This could get confusing.:huh::rolleyes::lol:

Well you are Mango to the 4th power, lol.

Yeah, it's not so much to figure out what foundation to wear with the blush, but rather when I can wear some of those not much used blushes, lol. Some of them (like Soft Touch) are on the borderline of being too light, but if I'm wearing the right foundation I LOVE how it looks, so since I can't remember from one time to the next what I was wearing when it looked good...SPREADSHEET.

I feel like a pin cushion. I've been undergoing so many tests! (Bloodtests, thyroid panels, vitamin levels) and still need an x-ray of my eyes and an MRI of my head. I have been spending more time researching my problems and less time having fun with my online makup friends. This is just not right!

I'll catch up reading and post later. I only went back a few posts so I need to find out what's going on in the EM world!

Hi Joni, sorry about all you are going through with your health. I hope you find some answers :)

Come back to your on-line make-up friends when you can

Okay folks...I see a new spreadsheet in my future.

I just can't remember what looks good with what. I remember liking Waffle Cone well enough, but wasn't WOWed by it the last time I tried it. I decided to try it today again with my Sunkissed Fair (but in Semi-Matte), and the waffle cone looked GREAT. So apparently the foundation color (or even formulation possibly) may make a difference in the way blush looks.

So, my project for today is to create a spreadsheet.

That' sounds like quite a project Donna.

Oh no! That gets confusing.

Nothing EM related really to report. I still haven't ordered what's in my cart, I'm not 100% decided on my blush or eye color selections. Most of them, yes, but there are one or two in each category I am questioning.

Joni63 Collaborator
What a bummer about the tests :( Hopefully you are discovering some things though.

I'm not caught up with the EM world either. Must spend more time thinking about make-up

Thanks Mangotothe4thpower! I think they are, they found a problem with my vitamin/thyroid panels and I'll find out Monday!

LOL! I had more fun when all I was thinking about was EM, then reality took over!

Thank you for that info joni, im going to have to order an sample kit soon and try apple lol

paula

Your Welcome! Hope you like it!

Thank you, Julie. Did you end up ordering when they had the last special (the peach lipstick and peach blush/finishing powder)?

WW340 Rookie

I think I figured out why they did not send my specials with my last order. There appears to be a problem with their special link and paypal. Paypal charged me the right amount including the discount, but it did not reflect with EM.

Other people are having problems with paypal over charging them. So, if you use paypal to pay for your orders, you need to check the amount charged to your account.

I have emailed them about this. I hope they will make good on my specials.

I know Joni, that reality just comes out of nowhere!

I didn't end up ordering, I haven't ordered in a while actually. The specials haven't been that appealing to me so far, and I'm really holding out for NEW COLORS. Hint Hint EM!

I hope they will honor the specials for you.

I totally agree. Of course this is coming from someone with foundation issues anyway lol.

I like the apple, plum dust and chit chat all the best. I frequently tone them down with a little soft touch though.

Thanks Mangotothe4thpower! I think they are, they found a problem with my vitamin/thyroid panels and I'll find out Monday!

Hopefully it will be something easy to treat like low B12. Let us know what you find out.

I got an email answer back and they said that even though the special was still up when I ordered, it was expired, so I don't get the items. I don't get it exactly, at least I did get the 5% off. Still bummed out though.

Happy Birthday, Mango.

New colors would be a welcome addition. I'm kind of curious what the NEWS will be this month.

That doesn't seem right WW340. It's misleading when they leave the special up, even though it's dated. I wish they would be better about that aspect of their website.

It showed in my cart when I ordered it, and I was charged the discounted price, but I never got the special. Now my order shows the regular price, but that is not the price I was charged on paypal. Weird.

I agree with that. I think it is very misleading, especially since they so frequently just extend the current special.

I think you are very wise in doing that. I think I will do the same.

I have much more to be bummed out about now. I have been seeing doctors and nerve specialists for the past week and had an MRI to figure out what is causing this terrible pain in my left shoulder and numbness under my arm and across my breast. They thought it was a nerve impingement. But last night I developed a rash all along the affected area. My doctor confirmed it this morning. I have shingles. I am miserable.

dlp252 Apprentice

Aw W, so sorry about the shingles! I've had them and they are indeed miserable! Hope it clears up quickly for you.

WW340 Rookie

Thanks Donna. How long did it last for you? At times this unrelenting pain just seems unbearable.

WW340, sorry about the shingles and all the pain you are experiencing. I hope you are not uncomfortable for too long.

I don't know if any of you are keeping up with the "news" posts, but I just noticed 2 new ones. I have been checking fequently to see if there was any new news and I sware that the January post was the latest one, for the last 3 months...now I see there is a Feb one and a March one

Anyhow, it sounds like they are still planning to unveil the new site but it is just slow going. New things are on the horizon such as 10 new lip colors (with more pigmentation and the faulty opening twist feature has been addressed and fixed), new soaps and lotion bars, skin care, primers, new brushes, better color swatches, cheaper prices (it's so cheap as it is  ) and so on.

If you haven't read up on the latest check it out:

Yes, EM seems all talk and no action these days, except to take away some favorites like chit chat.

As for how they treat the shingles, they gave me high dose valtrex and lyrica. I am allergic to narcotics, or they would have given me some, so it is Tylenol and motrin for now.

In reading some past posts, there may be a higher incidence of shingles in people with Celiac, as if we didn't have enough to deal with. I have not found anything in medical literature yet to substantiate that though. It does go along with a weakened immune system, and celiac disease does that.

I think she is right. You must have just updated, because those have been there for a while. They would have been better off not saying anything until right before the release.

Yes, their mascara is gluten free.

From the Monave website:

Today, I'm addressing a frequent question that we receive here at Monave: Is our makeup gluten-free? Our skin care and makeup is 99% gluten free with the exception of our Concealer Cream Foundation and Unscented Emollient. They have Vitamin E which was derived from wheat germ oil.

So, just avoid those 2 products and you will be good to go!

I remember my grandfather getting these. This was years ago, but I don't think they treated him with anything back then.

I think so many ailments go along with Celiac too, they just haven't linked them all together or studied it enough.

Hope your meds kick in and you feel better soon!

confused Community Regular

I got my order today.

Omg the full size kits are huge, I have no room for anything in my train case now, not even an q-tip will fit. Once i feel better I have to organize my train kit lol.

I was mad tho i ordered some soap and it didnt come but on the paper it said they will refund me back my money, ughhhh.

Ok for the new colors

walkie talkie is so very pretty and pink

the other new color is pretty but a little too orangy for me, at least on my wrist it is, will have to see when it is on, but it is much prettier then all smiles blush, now that is orange lol

paula

dlp252 Apprentice

My order came yesterday too...it was so flippin' busy at work that I couldn't get online to gloat.

The special blushes are interesting...Walkee Talkee is a nice pink, but the Summer Stroll looks like orange sherbert, lol. Not sure I'll be wearing that one anywhere, lol. I also ordered Theme Park, which is very nice...I'm wearing it today.

Tried the Lavender everywear lotion last night. VERY nice...too bad the jar is so small...but I figured out that one doesn't need much of it...still, it's a really small jar, lol.

Julie, thanks for the link...going there shortly!

Thanks Donna. How long did it last for you? At times this unrelenting pain just seems unbearable.

Sorry it took so long to answer! I'm trying NOT to get on my computer on weekends, and yesterday at work was just so busy I couldn't even breathe, lol. Anyway, the pain didn't last too long once I got on the meds. They say the earlier you get on them the better. I had waited until the last day of the 3-day window they recommend to go see my doctor. They say after that the nerve pain has a greater chance of lingering. How is for you now?

no argument. Never take the pills sold for Nuclear events, except in a nuclear event when instructed to by authorities.  Some of these go up to 130 milligrams per pill. 5000 times the strength of the dietary supplement.  130 times the safe upper limit.  130 mg = 130,000 mcg. Dietary supplements like Lugol's Solution and Liquid Iodine are 50 micrograms per drop.  It takes 20 drops to reach the safe upper limit. In the US the Safe upper limit is 1100 mcg.  In Europe 600 mcg and in Japan 3000 mcg ( 3 mg).

Welcome to the celiac.com community, @JudyLou! There are a couple of things you might consider to help you in your decision that would not require you to do a gluten challenge. The first, that is if you have not had this test run already, is to request a "total IGA" test to be run. One of the reasons that celiac blood antibody tests can be negative, apart from not having celiac disease, that is, is because of IGA deficiency. If a person is IGA deficient, they will not respond accurately to the celiac disease blood antibody tests (such as the commonly run TTG-IGA). The total IGA test is designed to check for IGA deficiency. The total IGA test is not a celiac antibody test so I wouldn't think that a gluten challenge is necessary. The second is to have genetic testing done to determine if you have the genetic potential to develop celiac disease. About 30-40% of  the general population have the genetic potential but only about 1% actually develop celiac disease. So, genetic testing cannot be used to diagnose celiac disease but it can be used to rule it out. Those who don't have the genetic potential but still have reaction to gluten would not be diagnosed with celiac disease but with NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity).  Another possibility is that you do have celiac disease but are in remission. We do see this but often it doesn't last.

Hi there, I’m debating whether to consider a gluten challenge and I’m hoping someone here can help with that decision (so far, none of the doctors have been helpful). I have a history of breaking out in a horrible, burning/itchy somewhat blistering rash about every 8 years. This started when I was in my early 30’s and at that point it started at the ankles and went about to my knees. Every time I had the rash it would cover more of my body, so my arms and part of my torso were impacted as well, and it was always symmetrical. First I was told it was an allergic reaction to a bug bite. Next I was told it was eczema (after a biopsy of the lesion - not the skin near the lesion) and given a steroid injection (didn’t help). I took myself off of gluten about 3 weeks before seeing an allergist, just to see if it would help (it didn’t in that time period). He thought the rash looked like dermatitis herpetiformis and told me to eat some bread the night before my blood tests, which I did, and the tests came back negative. I’ve since learned from this forum that I needed to be eating gluten daily for at least a month in order to get an accurate test result. I’m grateful to the allergist as he found that 5 mg of doxepin daily will eliminate the rash within about 10 days (previously it lasted for months whether I was eating gluten or not). I have been gluten free for about 25 years as a precaution and recommendation from my doctor, and the pattern of breaking out every 8 years or so remains the same except once I broke out after just one year (was not glutened as far as I know), and now it’s been over 9 years. What’s confusing to me, is that there have been 3 times in the past 2 years when I’ve accidentally eaten gluten, and I haven’t had any reaction at all. Once someone made pancakes (they said they were gluten-free, they were not) and I ate several. I need to decide whether to do a gluten challenge and get another blood test. If I do, are these tests really accurate? I’m also concerned that I could damage my gut in that process if I do have celiac disease. My brother and cousin both had lymphoma so that’s a concern regarding a challenge as well, though there is a lot of cancer in various forms in my family so there may be no gluten connection there. Sorry for the ramble, I’m just doubting the need to remain gluten free if I don’t have any reaction to eating it and haven’t had a positive test (other than testing positive for one of the genes, though it sounds like that’s pretty common). I’d appreciate any thoughts or advice!

Hello, just popped in my head to ask this question about medications and celiac? I have always had refurse reaction to meds since I can remember  of what little meds my body is able to tolerate. I was taking gabapentin 300mg for a week,  in past I believe 150? Any ways it amps me up not able to sleep, though very tired. However I did notice it helped with my bloating sibo belly.I hate that my body is that sensitive and medical doesn't seem to take seriously. Im STILL healing with my skin, eye, and now ms or meningioma ( will know in April  which)and dealing with this limbo nightmare. I did write my name, address ect on the reclamation but im not tech savvy and not sure if went through properly. I called my city representative in Stanislaus County and asked if theres a physical paper i can sign for proclamation for celiac and she had no clue about what I was saying, so I just said I'll go back on website.
    • Scott Adams
I'm not saying that some celiacs won't need it, but it should be done under a doctor's supervision because it can cause lots of problems in some people.
