Oh no, is this grounds for dismissal from the cult?!?!?!

No, no...once you are part of the cult there IS no going back! :P

You COULD always do what I did on Sunday...just put the makeup on to play with it. I didn't even leave the house. :P

In order to remain in the cult, you'll just have to start putting on your make-up even if you're planning on staying home all day, like the rest of us. Or, you could be like me and put on even more make-up for special occasions (such as going to the gym or to Target  - just kidding - sort of - the gym is a great place to test the staying power of different foundation formulas :lol:)

OK - I changed the layout of my eyeshadow sampler because of the new colors they introduced yesterday. For now (maybe the next 5 minutes until I shuffle it again) it is:

Emerald Eyeliner

Well Being

Smokey Pink

Rare Silk

Snowflakes

Pressed Olive

To Do List

Shopping Spree

Silver Spoon

Samba Lessons

Seems as though I am on a pink, green and grey kick. I keep shuffling it around, though. If they introduce any new colors, I think my head will explode. I want to try jump rope and chit chat as eye colors, too. I think they would work great.

How often are you all cleaning your brushes? I have only been wearing makeup for about 2 weeks now ;) , but I expect the brushes to need cleaning eventually.

I also wanted to chime in on the Pick Me Up Pink concealer, I am anxiously awaiting its arrival in my next sample kit (that should be more than on its way, possibly getting here today :D )

Mango, have you tried applying it as a base to your foundation? I am just wondering if it is meant to go on under or over the foundation?

Hi Julie! I think we have similar skin type and I've used PMUP both under my make-up and over. I found using both ways is fine. By accident I used it as a foundation yesterday and it gave me some color! But I find using it as a concealor gives the foundation an added boost, too.

I have really pale dull skin though so I don't know if this method would work for everybody. I dab a little PMUP around the outer corner of my eyes too. It's subtle but I like it. I'm going to try light pink as well, which I think might have a similiar, but slightly more dewy effect.

You mentioned that before and I keep forgetting to try that - I think I'll give it a shot tomorrow!

I'm noticing that too! My skin is suddenly softer and smoother withough make-up on. Weird! :D

Me too! I really like how soft and smooth my skin is. The last couple of winters my skin has been really bad - too oily, which is how it is in the summer. But this winter, I'm loving how good my skin looks - even without make-up!!

Sounds like, no matter how we put it on or wear it there are no wrongs with this stuff!

That's why I love it so much!!

I haven't had much of a chance to play with colors, most of my days are makeup free since I work out of my home

Oh no, is this grounds for dismissal from the cult?!?!?!

Never!!! We love having you with us and besides, you can't leave us, you give us so many good make-up tips!! :D

I think our sampler is pretty close, lol. I just changed mine too...got rid of one kit and decided to incorporate them into the others, lol.

I DO think my skin looks a bit smoother...I still have the remnants of a breakout from Christmas, but once those are completely gone it'll look pretty darned good.

Well, I stopped putting on makeup for the gym/working out because it made me break out, I will have to draw the line on that one, but for the very special ocasion of going 6 blocks to get the mail I think that calls for a full face of EM, and possibly a one woman parade waving and smiling to all the neighbors!

Colleen, funny you should ask. I was JUST reading about this on the EM site, they suggest cleaning the brushes often, every 2 weeks, to prevent bacteria building in the brushes themselves (the minerals are naturally anti-bacterial, so no build up there).

Thanks Laura, for the PMUP tips and for allowng me to stay in this here cult

I DO think we need more "beauty 411" on the EM website, LOTS MORE. It's pretty stingy on the 411

Ooooohhh, I just got handed a $25 AMEX gift card, lol. $25 could buy a lot at EM! :P

I'm officially IN LOVE!!!

This stuff is AMAZING! I love it! I only used it as foundation, but my skin looks INCREDIBLE!

YAY!!! Thanks for all your suggestions! :)

Yay, glad you like it Kassandra. Did you go buy a new brush?

No..lol. I used a foundation brush from the brand Lola that I already had from Sephora. It worked just fine. Next time I go to the mall, I'll go to bloomies and Sephora (have gift cards to both) and get some new brushes.

I told 2 of my friends about this make up today. One told me that "nothing compared to BE" I laughed.

Yeah, I've used BE for YEARS! May not have ever changed if I hadn't started breaking out with it. But, it's at least as good (I think better, but I'm just saying for a non-cult person, lol) as BE but a whole lot less money. I think they have better colors and I LOVE that there's nothing but the minerals in it.

confusedks Enthusiast

I agree with you Donna. She said that she gets it from QVC for really cheap otherwise she wouldn't buy it. I don't think I'll ever convince her...she's pretty darn stubborn. ;):P

But I have another friend with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and she said she never wears make up because she can't tolerate it, but since EM doesn't smell, she's going to try some! :)

dlp252 Apprentice

I've bought some from QVC too, but then you have to pay shipping. I have 3 BE stores near my home, so I can save on shipping, but the prices are a little higher, lol. And, then there's the thing where you go in to buy ONE thing and walk out with FOUR!!! (Or does that only happen to ME, lol)

Thanks for sharing this information. I just ordered a sample kit and a color as well!! Right now I use the Bare Minerals stuff from Wally World, but It seems to give me achne. I never had a problem with Achne until I had my kids and now it seems like every time I use makeup I break out no matter what kind it is. I hope this stuff solves that problem for me since it's gluten free.

~~Angie~~

dlp252 Apprentice

Angie, welcome to the madness, lol! Yes, it's gluten free AND it's bismuth oxywhatevertheheckitis free. Most other mineral makeups have that bismuth thing in them, and I think that's what was making me break out. I HAVE had a breakout since using EM, but I think it was from Christmas when I ate all kinds of JUNK. I'd been wearing the makeup for 7 days before that with no breakouts, and I've been wearing it every day since Christmas with no new breakouts! I'm hoping you have the same experience!

You can't beat the free sample kits though...that's a great way to try it (and new colors) without investing a lot of money, and although the samples LOOK small, there's actually a lot of product in there.

Welcome to our "cult" Angie! I have to say I've been using this make-up for a month now and have gone through two periods (yes, peri-menopause stinks <_< ). Before EM, I would get my usual pre-period break-out. But since I've tried this make-up I haven't had one break-out! I would get a zit here and there, but nothing like before!

I'm seeing my dermatologist tomorrow and I'm going to ask her if there is a connection between minerals make-up and clearing up acne.

I'm hooked - I don't think I'll ever go back to goopy liquid foundation!

Okay guys...so I don't think any of you have skin in need of as much concealer as mine LOL, but I discovered this morning that mixing intensive fair concealer with with my moisturizer does amazing things! It covered all my red marks and evened everything out so well! I still put mint and like three coats of foundation over it...but I probably didn't even need to. Yay! This will save me major time in the morning :D

Sounds like you don't need to put so many layers on Mango. I put on condealor AND foundation every morning. I think I'll cut back on days I don't need to look so beautiful ( ) and just use foundation or concealor alone.

Yeah I go a bit overboard with the layers huh? LOL My scars are so gnarly...I get a bit carried away  Tomorrow I will try one layer of concealer and one layer of foundation. It will probably actually look better that way...

I actually spend a lot of time putting this stuff on. i do a light dusting of mint to tone down the redness. Put a streak of yellow under my eyes to minimize the dark circles. Put light concealer all around my eyes to minimize more and prime my eyes for shadow. Put matte all over my face. Put two shades of shadow on my eyes (like to emphasize my eyes) and liner. Mascara. And a dusting of blush since I've manged to remove all other color from my face.

Hi Angie,

That's great you ordered your sample kit :) I think you will really like this line of mineral make-up!

Several of us here have used Bare Minerals and had issues with it (breakouts, reactions), talc was also an ingredient in it that bothered me.

EM is fabulously gluten-free, and free of a lot of other problematic ingredients.

Let us know how it works out for you!

I have the Cool Multi Tasking Neutral Foundation and from what I understand (I think) it is one in the same as the Multi Tasking Concealer? It definitely has great coverage, and on the EM site they say it's great to cover skin imperfections/blemishes.

So if anyone is looking to add another concealer for this purpose I give the multi-tasking a thumbs up!

Jestgar, I love your avatar! How adorable!!

You and Mango sound like the EM layering experts  I'm taking notes!

So I recently had allergy testing for IGE antibodies in response to foods. My test results came back positive to corn, white potatoes, egg whites. Tomatoes, almonds and peanuts to name a few.  I have had obvious reactions to a few of these - particularly tomatoes and corn- both GI issues. I don’t really understand all this allergy versus celiac stuff. If the food allergies are mild do I have to avoid these foods entirely? I don’t know what I will eat if I can’t  have corn based gluten free products

Geography makes a difference.  I'm in the West and Trader Joe's gluten-free bread tastes great and is a better price than most gluten-free breads sold elsewhere in my area.

We have four children (7-14 yo), and our 7 year old was diagnosed with NCGS (though all Celiac labs were positive, her scope at 4 years old was negative so docs in the US won't call it celiac). We have started her on a Gluten Free diet after 3 years of major digestive issues and ruling out just about everything under the sun. Our home and kitchen and myself are all gluten-free. But I have not asked my husband/her dad or her other siblings to go completely gluten-free with us. They are at home, but not out of the home. This has led to situations when we are eating out where she has to consistently see others eating things she can't have and she has begun to say "Well, I can't have <fill in the blank>...stupid gluten."  How have you supported your gluten-free kiddos in the mental health space of this journey, especially young ones like her. I know it's hard for me as an adult sometimes to miss out, so I can't imagine being 7 and dealing with it! Any tips or ideas to help with this?

By the time I was 5 I had my first auto0immune disorder, Migraine headaches, with auras to blind me, and vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. I was 5 years old, and my stepfather would have pizza night, milling his own flour, making thick cheesy gluten pizza, that I would eat and the next day, I would have serious migraines, and my mother & stepfather did nothing about my medical problems. When I was 17 in my first year at college, I was diagnosed with my 2nd known auto-immune disorder, Meniere's disease. I was a elite athlete, a swimmer, and soccer player. And once again my parents didn't think anything of understanding why I had a disorder only older people get. Now after my mother passed from Alzheimer's disease she also suffered with living with gluten. She had a rash for 30 years that nobody could diagnose. She was itchy for 45 years total. My brother had a encapsulated virus explodes in his spleen and when this happened his entire intestines were covered with adhesions, scar tissue and he almost lost his life. He has 5 daughters, and when I finally was diagnosed after being pregnant and my body went into a cytokine storm, I lost my chance to have children, I ended up having Hashimoto's disease, Degenerative Disc disease, and my body started to shut down during my first trimester. I am 6ft tall and got down to 119lbs. My husband and I went to a special immunologist in Terrace, California. They took 17 vials of blood as we flew there for a day and returned home that evening. In 3 weeks, we had the answer, I have Celiac disease. Once this was known, only my father and husband made efforts to change their way of feeding me. At the family cabin, my stepfather & mother were more worried that I would ruin Thanksgiving Dinner. It wasn't until one of my cousins was diagnosed with Celiac disease. They finally looked into getting Gluten Free flour and taking measures to limit "gluten" in meals. He did nothing but ask for me to pay for my own food and wi-fi when I came to the cabin to stay after our house burned down. When he informed my mother, they proceeding to get into a physical fight and she ended up with a black eye. The is just more trauma for me. Sam had no interest in telling the truth about what he wanted. He lied to my mother that he had asked my husband if I could pay for "food" when he asked Geoffrey if I had money to pay for my wi-fi. My mother hates when he spends so much time on the computer so he lied and said I could pay for my own food. I will remind you I weighed 119lbs at this time. (At 6ft) that is a very sick looking person. Neither parent was worried about my weight, they just fought about how cheap my stepfather was. As my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2014. He had her sign over the will to a trust and added his children. He had no testimonial capacity at the time, so she signed without proper papers. Making this Trust null and void. When I gave my brother my childhood home, my mother stated I would be getting an equal part of inheritance to the house on Race. It currently worth 2.0 million $. I got nothing, and my stepfather has since disowned me b/c of my claim and he knows that my mother would never have left it uneven between my biological brother and myself. She sat me and my husband down, as we lived at the Race Street house and treated and took care of it as our own. My brother took over b/c he was going through a horrific divorce and needed a home so he could get a better custody deal with his soon to be ex-wife who was a Assist DA for Denver. She used the girls against him, and he & I were the primary caregivers. We, Judd and I spent the most time with them pre the divorce. Once Judd moved into the house, he threw all of my mother, grandmother and my family heirlooms out to the Goodwill. Nobody told my mother about this as she was going through cancer treatment and had Alzheimer's disease in her mother and her sister. My stepfather and biological brother took advantage of this matter, as I called a "family council" that my brother just never could make it to at the last moment. All of the furnishing, kitchen ware, everything was in the house my brother just moved into. He had had 2 weddings, I chose to elope b/c my stepfather ruined my brother's first wedding by talking about his relationship with my brother in front of my dad and his entire family, insulting him and having my grandfather leave the ceremony. It was a disaster. My stepfather just plays dumb and blames my father for the slight. I was the only child not to have a wedding. So, my mother and stepfather never had to pay for a thing. My mother had had an agreement with my father he'd pay for college and all medical issues with their kids, myself and Judd. So truly my mother never had to pay for anything big for me in her entire life. I am looking for anyone that has had a similar story, where they grew up in a household that had a baker that regularly milled flour and ate gluten. What happened to you? DId you suffer from different auto-immune diseases b/c of living with a baker using "gluten" Please let me know. I have been looking into legal ways to get my stepfather to give me what my mother had promised, and he erased. Thank you for listening to my story. Jane Donnelly

Possibly gluten withdrawal. Lot's of info on the internet about it. Somewhat controversial but apparently gluten plugs into the same neuro sensors as opiates do and some people get a similar type withdrawal as they do when quitting opiates. Another issue is that gluten-free facsimile flours are not fortified with vitamins and minerals as is wheat flour (in the U.S. at least) so when the switch is made to gluten-free facsimile foods, especially if a lot of processed gluten-free foods are being used as substitutes, vitamin and mineral deficiencies can result. There is also the possibility that she has picked up a virus or some but that is totally unrelated to going gluten-free.
