Silicone Spatulas & Plastic Sippy Cups?

Of course the spatulas were used on gluten foods. Not so much the sippy cup although it was in the presence of gluten foods all the time.

And what about kitchen dish towels & the clothies we use as napkins. they've been around a while but washed a lot. Is that sufficient?

The sippy cups should be just fine. The same goes for your towels and cloths. Wash them a couple of times on hot before using them again, that should do it. Unless the spatulas are old and scratched up they should be fine to use.

On the other hand, you absolutely cannot use your old plastic colander any more and need to replace it, the same goes for your toaster, wooden cutting boards and wooden cooking spoons, as well as scratched non-stick cook/bake ware.

Why do you have to replace the plastic colander? I never did, it's not scratched up or anything, just used to drain things and always washed in the dishwasher on the sanitize cycle--I'm just curious, wondering if I missed something. I totally agree with everything else. Also, if your silicone spatulas have a wooden handle, I would replace. I always get batter on mine...

Why do you have to replace the plastic colander?

Because you have drained gluten pasta with it. It has too many small crevices, that aren't possible to clean properly, even if you try scrubbing it by hand. And those crevices will NOT get completely clean in the dishwasher. Gluten is just too sticky.

I have been glutened by my colander before replacing it, and others here have had the same problem.

Anything with small corners that you can't scrub properly that has been used for gluteny foods needs replacing. It is just a fact of life if you want to be safe.

And you are right about the spatulas with wooden handles, I had not thought of those.

Thanks!! :D

Do you think a stainless steel collander (non mesh) might be ok? It's flat & the holes are round or should that go too?

Also, what about my kitchenaid food processor? Stay or go?

I would replace any "plug" in the sippy cups if you have teh kind that use them. I wash everything by hand and I know that things could get into the plugs.

Metal should be ok for a colander.

Can you clean all of the part of teh food processor???? That would kind of worry me.

I agree with @trents, could be worth having another scope. Oddly enough I'm in the same boat except my current odd sensation is near my appendix, I think I'll request a colonoscopy for peace of mind.
