Hi,

First I like to say that I tested tTG 14 with overwhelming evidance of gluten-free diet changes in feeling better but not totally better.( although I am now on my 4-5 week of the diet and I feel pretty lousy today, maybe a cold?).

Today I got the Genetic test so here it is:

HLA-DRB1 07(DR7)

HLA-DRB1 13(DR13)

HLA-DQB1 02(DQ2)

HLA-DQB1 06(DQ6)

The ( DQ2) seems to be indicative right. I did an Endoscopy before and they said it was normal , that was before they tested me for Celiac.

Can someone shed light on this please.

THNX

You have one copy of the DQ2 celiac gene (most common one) which is all it takes to have the tendency toward this disease. I don't know about the others, but only DQ4 is NOT associated with celiac and you do not have that as the other gene.

Thank you for your reply, I dont know why you mentioned the DQ-$ ? I read in Dr. Green's book that " DQ-2 and DQ-8 ) either one or both is enough to rule in Celiac. I read this article on the front page of Celiac dot com that this Dr./// he was saying that many Doctors order their labs from .... then he names all the labs and then he says that the results are not complete and then he ends the article with the fact that many Doc's do not know about the genetic part. i guess then that I am definatly positive Celiac? It has not sunk in

It seems like every time I talk to the Dr. I am confused because they strung me along : it is this, no that um it is IBS

and reflux.... so now I am thinking o.k are they going to change the diagnosis? or worse are they going to add to it , like Lymphoma?

With your genes, symptoms and positive response to the diet, if it were me, I would dx myself Celiac.

DQ2 is the main celiac gene, and DQ6is a gluten sensitive gene.

Over at the braintalk and neurotalk forums there are many with DQ6 and severe gluten sensitivity and neurological symptoms.

I have that too and I do not have DQ2.

For explanation about DR and DQ, see:

and this old one: Open Original Shared Link

Here they found two DQ6 celiacs:

They did not test your alpha chains, just the beta chains DQB1**, which lab did the tests?

My doctor was willing to diagnose me based on the fact that I am DQ2 positive and my symptoms resolved with a gluten free diet. My bloodwork was negative, and I didn't have an EGD. 4-5 weeks on the diet is enough to feel relief, but it's not long enough to reverse everything. If you continue to feel better, then the chances of Celiac for you are high. I am 6.5 months in, and it's been within the last month that I can actually say I feel good. I'm still not totally back to normal.

And a biopsy is not always accurate either. You have 22 ft of sm intestine, and Celiac can be patchy. Your damage could've taken place in a place they didn't biopsy.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
