Habba Syndrome As Well As Celiac Disease?

Hi all! I have had the big D. for 4 years straight (not one day off)3-10 times daily. I was diagnosed with celiac and have been gluten free for 3 1/2 years.....and still it continues. Has anyone had the same and asked their doctor about Habba Syndrome.....? Or had their doctor think of Habba?

I don't have any issues with this but I did hear about it on Discovery Health Mystery Diagnosis and found it interesting. I know alot of people on here are still having problems after going gluten free. I suspect it could coexist. I wonder how many people have have been misdiagnosed with ibs or had their intact gallbladders removed when medication could help? Here is a link I found:

I still have 6-10 BM's a day ranging from normal to D. Still present with some urgency however no longer with the great pain I used to have. My gallbladder was removed quite a few years ago.

I also saw the Mystery Diagnosis about Habba Syndrome. It was very interesting. I learn a lot from that series.

I am not celiac (hubby is) but I am post-gallbladder removal 2 years and still have "D". I live on Questran (cholestryamine for oral suspension) and Immodium and lately Nexium for the gastritis the bile is doing to my gut. Seems I can't handle the irritation of random bile coming into my system.

I believe Dr. Habba prescribes Questran for Habba syndrome. It certainly works to bind up the bile salts and stop diarrhea. I take Immodium about twice a month.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
