What brand of salsa do you use? Is it really chunky or not? Looking for one that isn't really chunky for DD, but chunky is fine for me and DH. Thanks

I like Herdez. It comes in 3 levels of heat. Isn't completely smooth but not too chunky IMO. Just simple fresh tasting ingredients.

Usually Muir Glen because that's what my health food store sells. Sometimes Amy's Organic. Both have chunks but are not overly chunky. I used to buy Pace. It's not chunky but I believe I read here it is no longer gluten-free. I could be wrong though.

I usually use this type of salsa for making recipes like enchilada casserole or Spanish rice. For eating with chips, I prefer pico de gallo.

We used Pace until I saw on here several months ago that it's not gluten-free any more. Now we use Sam's Choice Southwest Black Bean & Corn salsa from W-Mart. They have several flavors and heats. I could eat it by the jar...mm.

i always use Newman's Own salsa.... number 1: it's delicious, and number 2: they are very clear about the gluten content in all of their products on their website!

:-) enjoy!

I make my own, but it's quite a chore. So sometimes when I'm running low I get some Old El Paso Salsa Fresca from Walmart. It's in a short, plastic, wide mouth container in the vegetable cooler aisle. It's very fresh tasting, because it is fresh, and not chunky at all. Just like homemade, it must be kept refrigerated.

I've tried just about every jar salsa there is, and they just don't taste fresh enough for me.

best regards, lm

Is the Old El Paso salsa gluten free in Canada? Anyone know? I've tried searching online with no luck. I have the Thick N' Chunky Medium flavour. The ingredients list onion and garlic powders so there could be hidden gluten there. Is this brand known for listing allergens reliably? Anyone in Canada use this product?

Thanks :)

I like Herdez a lot but I can't find it everywhere. So sometimes it is Newman's Own.

Pace Picante Sauce is gluten free isn't it??

I'm sure I called them but now I can't remember.

Frances03 Enthusiast

Yes, Pace Picante Sauce is gluten free. Here is a list from campbell's and it's on this list. I knew I had contacted them, they sent me this a couple weeks ago.

I use this too. Love it and never have had a problem with it yet (knock on wood). Just had some this past Friday. There is a new warning on it that it might contain traces of wheat.

Body dysmorphia experience. When I was at the worst of my gluten problem I use to get chronic constipation; I would spend long time sitting on the toilet. One day as I was tired of sitting, I rested my head on my hands and my elbows on my knees, as soon as I felt the pressure of my elbows on my knees the perception of my body changed to that of a tarantula; I visualized and it felt real. The perception went away as soon as I removed the pressure on my knees, I deducted that the pressure of my elbows on the knees caused the sensation, so I repeated the position and the sensation of having the body of a tarantula happened each time. I have not had that experience since then because I started a gluten-free diet short after. I wonder if those people that look distorted to themselves in the mirror could have something similar but with the responsible sensory contacts located on their feet. I want to document this experience because it might help some research or others, it sounds crazy but I feel the right thing to do is to share it.

Get tested for vitamin deficiencies.  Though neuropathy can be a symptom of celiac, it can also be caused by deficiencies due to poor digestion caused by celiac and could be easier to treat.

Thank you so much for your response  Yes it seems as though things get very painful as time goes on.  I'm not eating gluten as far as I know.  However, I'm not sure of cross contamination.  My system seems to weaken to hidden spices and other possibilities. ???  if cross contamination is possible...I am in a super sensitive mode of celiac disease.. Neuropathy from head to toes
