Afobasal For Celiac Anxiety

I have been going through hell lately because of what is turning into a real nasty divorce. My anxiety levels, which have always been an issue are now going through the roof. My doctor gave me a drug last week which basically shut down my GI tract, (didn't poop for 5 days) and turned me into a zombie who didn't care whether I even ate or moved out of my chair. I stopped the drug after those 5 days and started looking to see if there was any particular drug that would help with anxiety for celiacs and I found this:

The drug was developed in Russia and I am wondering if anyone has any experience with it.

I am so sorry you are going through such a horrible time right now. I have not heard of afobasol but would also be interested in anyone who has tried this. I take alprazolam (generic for xanax) by Mylan. I don't need it everyday, just every now and then. I think it works great.

I used to take Buspar. You take it everyday. It takes a few weeks to work but it really works. It is not an antidepressant, but an antianxiety drug. It is very inexpensive to use. You will not feel drugged at all. Please talk to you doctor about this.

I don't know about the drug you asked about, I just want you to know I'm thinking about you. :)

Thank you all for your kind replies and suggestions. I will make note of the meds suggested and mention them to the doctor as well as asking about the Afobasol. Also I have found an alternate spelling for the drug. It is afobazal.

I tried askapatient but got no hits on it. There seems to be another spelling out there as afobazol, with zol instead of sol at the end. Sounds like the same drug, not sure though.

Sorry to hear about the divorce Ravenwood. Maybe a mediator could help smooth things out? It seems to me a mediator is easier to talk to than a lawyer or a judge. My last divorce (who's really counting after all?) we used a mediator to work out the agreement and the court and lawyers just signed off. Cheaper and less stressful for both of us. And we (ex and I) are still friends too.

Thanks for the heads up on the alprazolam. My doctor had never heard of afobasol but took the info on it and is going to research it a bit. He did give me a script for the alprazolam and also told me if I am having a severe panic attack that I can break the pill in half and take it sublingually to get very quick relief since that would get the drug to my brain faster. He did mention that would taste really foul but when I am shaking and virtually paralysed by a panic attack the taste would be the least of my issues. Unrelated but maybe helpful for others they are also referring me to Vesid. They can hopefully retrain me so I can work at something I can actually do since I can't work either in my past professions, cooking or because of CC issues in the school system.

Also a big thankyou to everyone. The kindness and concern of you folks helps a lot more than you all could ever know.

I have been taking Lexapro for anxiety. It's helping A LOT! Had previously taken Paxil, but didn't like some of the side effects. I would recommend either Lexapro or Celexa from my experiences. Both are on the gluten-free list of meds.

I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

      I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this.Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.

      I used to be able to get the Rivera yougut i havent been able to get it lately. I like getting it did say it did say gluten free. I just looking for a good yogurt that gluten free that i can add some fruit and nuts to any suggestion would be helpful  thanks
