I am not much of a bread eater and haven't tried any gluten free bread yet, but the general conclusion that I have read on here is that Udi's is one of the best. Not sure where to find it, and do not know from personal experience, just sharing what I have read so far.

Good Luck!

ditto on the Udi's. Others cannot compare.

`Udi's bread is wonderful. If you have a whole foods near by they have several breads in the bakery. We like this bread for grilled sandwiches. Some people like Schar breads. For mixes: a popular bread mix is Anna's Bread Mixes, Sisters three ( a new kid on the block) Has a good white gluten-free bread.

Do you get Living Without? They have a very good bread recipe & another is Lorka's bread found in the recipe section of this site. (Laurie Crater) she also has a cookbook.

Two good cookbooks with breads recipes that are excellent are: Baking Classics by Annalise Roberts, she also has a bread machine cookbook as well. Elizabeth Barbone's cookbook as well.

I live in north Dallas, and the Udi brand is fantastic. I can buy it frozen at Sprouts or fresh at Whole Foods. Their bagels are wonderful - just like real bagels. Unfortunately they are having some issues with the bagel packaging and have discontinued them, but promise they will be back.

My husband who loves white bread gave in and tasted my Usi white bread toated with some peanut butter and said it was delicious...

Thank you all for your replies! I went this weekend to look at our Nature's Pantry (Kansas City) and found Udi's bread and Blueberry muffins. I had the BB muffins this monring, WOW, that was better than regulat BB muffins! I was so surprised! I look forward to trying the bread tonight. Thank you so much.

mamaw thanks for all that info. That was very helpful. I plan to try to make my own bread again sometime. I have failed in the past so I am nervous about "wasting" ingredients again.

Glutino makes some good breads and I believe english muffins. I can get them here in Canada at our local grocery stores in the freezer section. Have also found a great pizza crust - kinnikinnick

I like Gluton's bagels, and pizza. My favorite bread so far is Wunder Bread by Liberty Baker. They are local for me (Central Florida), my Whole Foods carries them and they are on-line as well.

I absolutey LOVE "Bob's Red Mill: Homemade Wonderful Bread" It comes in a mix and its easy to add a few ingredients then toss it in the bread machine(or oven would work) It comes out NORMAL sized, plus its suuuper soft and has awesome texture! I looove it its like white wheat bread. Yum!:) Plus we add flax, walnuts, gluten-free oats and quinoa flakes to make it more whole-wheat like(my old fave)

Here in KC, we have an bakery Olivias Oven. I know they sell in Hyvees. They make the best donut holes. Look them up & it tells you the days they deliver so you can get it fresh.

I have recently discovered the Grainless Baker. They make French baguettes that are very much like the real thing. I use them to make garlic toast. My available gluten-free foods are very limited, but I do order Grainless Baker from the Gluten Free Mall.

In addition to Udi's white bread (on sale through today at Whole Foods), their pizza crust is awesome. I used to buy kinnikinnik crust until I found udi's. Even my dh and kids will eat Udi's food. I love Udi's cinnamon rolls - slightly warm with cream cheese on top.

My favorite gluten free bread is Kinnikinnick white bread. When toasted, it tastes like "real" bread. I buy it in Kroger and it is from a company in Canada.

where do you buy Udi's? i live in a rural place so i am pretty much limited to Kroger gluten free stuff, occasionally if i head to the "big City" there is a Earth Foods i can shop at. I absolutely LOVE Bobs Red Mill gluten free corn bread- i am a bread LOVER, i used to live off toast and cheezits so this gluten free thing is hard lol

I love Pamela's! I may send her a love letter. I bought the mix at Whole Foods and used my bread machine which I just got at Amazon for $50 (+ free shipping). I have eaten more bread in the past few weeks than I have in my entire life! I like the Bob's Red Mill mixes and I also love this recipe (love this blog in general): Open Original Shared Link

I have never been a baker. I hate to bake. However the bread machine is a godsend. You just plop everything in and 3 hours later you have amazing bread. I freeze slices of bread, crumbs and croutons for those weeks I don't feel like baking anything.

Love the frozen Kinnikinnik (sp?) pizza dough. We even use them to make garlic bread. Haven't had Udi's but will see if my Whole Foods carries them.

For crackers I like the Glutino crackers and Veggie Chips (a potato based chip).

*Oh and you don't need a bread machine for the mixes I posted above. They each have non machine instructions.

I know gluten free proteins like eggs and yogurt but nuts especially trail mixes are tricky as they are hard to find certified gluten free trail mixes especially w/o added sugars. I agree subscription boxes are hit or miss I think I have found RXBar with simple ingredients no added sugars gluten-free might be a great protein bar.

I sure appreciate the information. I knew there had to be gluten consumption for the blood test, but I did not realize that also applied to biopsies. Thank you so much for that nugget of knowledge. I look forward to learning more as I dive into this website and the collective knowledge, experience, and wisdom from those who have gone before and/or those who are just beginning the journey like me. Thank you for sharing this — it’s really important. The FDA is actively seeking public input on improving gluten and ingredient labeling, which could directly impact how people with celiac disease and gluten sensitivity shop and stay safe. Clearer labeling would help reduce accidental gluten exposure and make it easier to identify hidden sources of gluten in foods. I encourage everyone here who is affected by celiac or gluten sensitivity to read the announcement and submit their own suggestions — real lived experience matters and can influence policy changes that benefit the whole community.

A low tTG is great news, but it doesn’t always mean the small intestine has fully healed yet—iron and vitamin D absorption can lag behind for months or even years, especially in young children. Many kids need supplements for a period of time while the gut repairs itself, and that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be lifelong. Morning stomach pain is also commonly reported in celiac kids and can be related to slow healing, reflux, motility, or even low iron itself. It sounds like the supplements are clearly helping, which is reassuring, and ongoing monitoring with her doctor can help determine when (or if) doses can be reduced as absorption improves. The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs. A lot of gluten-free packaged foods do rely on extra sugar, starches, or sodium to replace texture and flavor, so focusing on simpler options makes sense. Many people do better with naturally gluten-free proteins like eggs, plain yogurt, nuts, seeds, hummus, beans, and minimally processed protein bars with lower added sugar and higher fiber. Pairing those with whole foods can help you feel more “normal” without triggering symptoms. Subscription boxes can be hit or miss, so checking labels carefully and using them as an occasional supplement—rather than a staple—often works best.
