Movie Theater Popcorn

Does anyone happen to know if Regal Cinema's or AMC movie theater popcorn and butter sauce is gluten free or not???? I used to work for AMC years ago and I remember that we put a specific seasoning mixture in with the popcorn before it's popped. I just don't know if it's gluten free or not. I have tried looking on their websites and I can't find any info about this, and I would really like to be able to eat popcorn in a theater with my movie. I went to see Star Wars last night and because I didn't want to take a chance, I had M&M's with my coke... And we are planning to go see Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy next weekend and I want popcorn! (and my local theater WILL NOT ALLOW me to bring in outside food even if I tell them it's because of a medical reason, I checked..)

We don't have Regal or AMC here but every time I have checked a theater the popcorn has been gluten-free. If the topping used at your theater is Flavocol (sp?), it is indeed gluten-free. You need to find out what they use and call the company. The oil and popcorn itself will be gluten-free, of course.

All the places I've been to I haven't gotten a reaction, but I don't get the butter sauce because i think it is just plain gross! But just ask one of the people behind the counter if you can see the ingredietns, then write down the companys name and phone, and call them before you go to a movie again.

The last two theaters I attended both allowed me to view the ingredient lists for everything they used in their popcorn. The other patrons were quite interested as they brought out the boxes and buckets for me to see. I was able to answer several questions for those around me. If you contact the theater by phone during the day, they can probably give you the phone number for the mfr as well.

AMC popcorn is gluten free. I have it whenever I go.

Saw Star Wars this weekend at Regal and enjoyed my popcorn without the butter sauce. :D

Whenever I eat movie theatre popcorn I throw up big time. I think it is the butter b/c I am allergic to all dairy. It's not a pretty site.

thanks you guys! I think I will be seeing Hitchikers Guide this weekend, and will be enjoying popcorn! (I have no probs with most microwave popcorns so I should be ok, right?) I may just have to go see Star Wars again too!!! :D:D:D

Oh Nisla - Hitchhikers was awesome!!! I wanna go back for another shot. This is funny because I wanted popcorn and my husband wouldn't let me (after seeing how sick I got the last two times) even though I told him I'd had it there before, no problem.

Funny...

IKWYM, my husband wouldn't let me get the popcorn either until I have researched it sufficiently!!! So I ended up spending $4 on a bag of m&m's I ended up spilling all over the floor. <_<

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
