Ran Into A Non-Gentleman Redneck From Hell

Boy, what a day I had! Is there a full moon tonight or what? My doctor wants me to take this medicine, so I took a half one with my coffee this morning at 6:30. So I get feeling panicky at work. So I go in my purse to get my pills and they are NOT THERE! I always leave my purse on my desk, I trust everyone  So, anyway, I come home at lunch, they are not here, not in my car, just gone. So I had a refill on them so I drive from the city all the way down to the drug store to get my refill. And I'm starting to feel all panicked again....

I see an empty space right by the pharmacy door so I pulled in there. This "man" slams his van into park, jumps out and goes "I guess ya didn't see my turn signal" This is at a tiny little country place, I'm like, "huh?" He was like 7 inches taller than me, bent down so his face was equal with mine and said to me, "ya best to take your skanky a** back to yer mf'in car and MOVE it, and I said NOW!" I go, "I have to get my medicine"....stupid thing to say, but that's all that came out...... then he starts lunging at me like two guys in a bar fight and all I'm thinking is "I'm alone, none of my people are with me". He had a very out of control beard and crazy hair. I tried to walk to the left of him, he moved in front of me, tried to move to the right, he moved again. Screaming at me the whole time, mf this, B that, called me everything but a preacher. he said "take your skanky a** over there and move that mf car NOW, or you'll see what will happen."

This tiny little 20 year old girl with long blonde hair started walking up there and she said to him, "hey, mister, you shouldn't be talking to her like that" then he started yelling and cussing at me some more. I went in the store. When I got to the pharmacy, I was shaking like a sick chicken. I told that lady what happened. She told this other girl, "get Jason", then this guy came up with sagging jeans, gold chains, some kind of expensive sports jersey shirt thing. He was security! That's his job, he walks around that store for eight hours a day looking like he's shopping, but he's really security.

So they told me they're going to walk me out to my car, well, he scratched up my car a bit with a key or something, I don't know, but I don't care about that. The security guy said that 4 people had went to the customer desk and said that some crazy redneck guy was threatening a girl out in the parking lot (me) and they detained him and called the cops and I said I'd wait but when I got in my car, I tore outta there. I didn't want that guy to see my face or know my name (if it went to court)

I knew I was going to be late getting back to work from my lunch break, I was just like out of body, like "is this really happening?" I used to live down there. Then I got so freaked out about getting back to work on time, I didn't stop for gas then I sputtered my way to get $4.00 worth of gas cuz it's $2.89 there and only $2.39 in my neighborhood, and boy what a day I had..... that guy, he could have done any number of things, he was totally out of control. There's 99 southern hospitality people in Kentucky and one redneck, and that's all it takes.

I just thank everything and everyone that he didn't hurt me and that I didn't run out of gas. But I still don't know where my pills went, and it makes me sad to think anyone at work would go in my purse and take my medicine. It was a twilight zone kind of day. Now all my friends and my family are fired up because of what happened, man, that guy was nutso! And I REALLY didn't see his turn signal. And who the heck uses turn signals in a tiny place like that anyway?

And I ate a chocolate chip cookie yesterday at our company picnic. I ate half of it, my legs felt funny, but that's all that happened. Then tonight when I got home, my dog (94 pounds)tried to either pick up one of those kittens outside or either eat it, I'm not sure, and the mom cat who weighs all of 2 pounds maybe, faced up to my dog to protect her kitten, and it was cool, but creepy too because it made me think that humans are starting to act like animals.

Wow--what a nut! Good thing the police were called, hopefully that'll put a stop to him harassing people.

How scary, though. Glad you're ok :)

Wow! That sounds horrible.

My daughter and I have had a couple of scares. One was in the grocery store. Guy behind us started yelling and saying bad things. I'll not really repeat them here. Anyway for some reason he felt he should go ahead of us. Neither of us was buying very much stuff. I just told the clerk to take him first. Why? In my mind the guy was nuts and the further he got away from us, the better! Well she didn't want to take him first but finally she did after I insisted. Then I told her why.

The next time was outside of the drugstore, just like you. This scruffy looking older man just appeared out of nowhere and was rifling through the trash. This immediately following someone throwing out a McDonald's bag. He was talking to himself and sounded very angry that there was no food in the bag. Luckily we hadn't gotten out of the van. It was a new store and I didn't have the phone number in my cell phone. Otherwise I would have called inside like my daughter wanted me to do.

Turns out the guy so far is harmless. There have been numerous complaints about him but the word from the police is that he is probably homeless and mentally ill. He hasn't actually broken any laws though.

Poor guy he was most likely hoping for the only meal he would have that day. No one should have to look through garbage for some food when so many of our dollars go to support the hungry in other countries.

Could be. I failed to mention that he was glaring at my daughter and I for a long time. We were frightened to get out of the van. We only got out when he disappeared into nowhere.

I've learned from past experience that there isn't much you can do for people who are in such a state. You just never know what might set them off and they can easily turn on you and become quite violent. Not saying that he would. You just never know.

I would have been afraid of him also. I would have done the same thing you did.

I live in the upper mid-west and was just diagnosed with marsh 3c celiac less than a month ago.  As a 51 year old male, I now take a couple of different gluten free vitamins.  I have not noticed any reaction to either of these items.  Both were purchased from Amazon. 1.  Nature Made Multivitamin For Him with No Iron 2.  Gade Nutrition Organic Quercetin with Bromelain Vitamin C and Zinc Between those two, I am ingesting 2000 IU of vitamin D per day. Best of luck, Known1

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.
