Going to the LA area & will do 1 day at Disney but the boys would rather do Universal Studios. Nothing on the website about gluten-free food. Called and the lady said everyplace with food can help you. Either they are all really well trained or completely clueless. Has anyone been to either Univ Studio?

Yes, I live in Orange County and have been there many times. Bring your own food if possible - you will have no luck there (read: they have no clue about gluten and no food to easily navigate around). The good news is that you can exit the park and go to the restaurants just outside (it's called the City Walk). They have a mexican restaurant I always eat at and have never gotten sick from.

Disney on the other hand is AMAZING when dealing with Celiac. You can either bring your own food in with you, or they have a list of gluten-free options. Their chefs are trained in cross-contamination too.

Have fun. Be sure to bring a sweater - we're having unseasonably cool weather and it gets chilly at night, if you can believe it.

Thanks. Not sure if they will let me bring food in but I'm sure I could sneak in something.

I was there several years ago and the lines for food were as long as the lines for the attractions. Do bring something in.

Not sure they will let me bring a full meal or 2. Thougt I could bring some nuts & bars. It may be a ice cream bar and M&M / Snickers kind of day. :). The guys will have to get food. I'll let everyone know how it goes. I don't trust that they can make gluten-free when super busy.

oooh, really? That's fantastic news! I ate there last year when I stayed at a hotel near by (pre-going gluten free) and really enjoyed it. I'll be back again this Sept, but thought it might be too complicated to deal with. Thanks!

Defintely bring your own food to Universal. I have yet to find anything at the park to eat. I usually stick a sandwich (on Udis) and some fruit and granola bar in a small insulated lunch bag. There are lockers just inside the gate on the right if you don't want to lug around with you all day. I have never had a problem bringing food in. If i did I would ask for a supervisor and explain my situation. Hint: go to the park as soon as they open and go directly to the

Back Lot Tours before the lines get too long. After the tour you can start hitting the rides and shows. Have fun!

That's what I did. Left a lunch in a cooler bag in a locker. People were bringing in food for whole families. The place was sooo crowded. Boys were on there own & went out to the shopping area and got food. Said it wasn't busy out there. Hub got ice cream because he didn't want to stand in a really long food line. The Back Lot Tour was great! The boys weren't going to like it but went because we weren't driving at 5:30 on the freeway. They loved it too.

I looked further into Thiamax Vitamin B1 by objective nutrients and read all the great reviews. I think I will give this a try. I noticed only possible side affect is possibly the first week so body adjusts. Life Extensions carries Benfotiamine with Thiamine and the mega one you mentioned. Not sure if both in one is better or seperate. some reviews state a laxative affect as side affect. SHould I take with my super B complex or just these 2 and multivitamin? I will do further research but I appreciate the wonderful explanation you provided on Thiamine.

There are other Celiac genes. HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8 show up in people from Northern European descent.   People of Mediterranean descent have HLA DQ 7.  People of Asian descent have HLA DQ 9.   There's other Indigenous populations that have other HLA genes that code for Celiac disease.   Are you still having symptoms?   What do you include in your diet?  Are you vegetarian? Are you taking any prescription medication?  Omeprazole?  Metformin?   Do you have anemia?  Thyroid problems? Are you taking any vitamins or herbal supplements?

There are eight essential B vitamins.  They are all water soluble.  Any excess of B vitamins is easily excreted by the kidneys.   Thiamine is Vitamin B 1.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Benfotiamine and TTFD are forms of Thiamine that the body can utilize very easily.   The form of Thiamine in the supplements you mentioned is Thiamine Mononitrate, a form that the body does not absorb well and does not utilize well.  Only about thirty percent of the amount on the label is actually absorbed in the small intestine.  Less than that can actually be used by the body.  Manufacturers add thiamine mononitrate to their products because it's cheap and shelf-stable.  Thiamine and other B vitamins break down when exposed to light and heat and over time.  Thiamine Mononitrate is a form that does not break down over time sitting on a shelf waiting for someone to buy them.  What makes Thiamine Mononitrate shelf stable makes it difficult for the body to turn into a useable form.  In fact, it takes more thiamine to turn it into a useable form.   Gastrointestinal Beriberi is a localized shortage of Thiamine in the gastrointestinal tract.  High carbohydrate meals can result in gastrointestinal symptoms of Gastric Beriberi.  Fiber is a type of carbohydrate.  So, high fiber/carbohydrate snacks could trigger Gastric Beriberi.   Since blood tests for Thiamine and other B vitamins are so inaccurate, the World Health Organization recommends trying Thiamine and looking for health improvement because it's safe and nontoxic.

Thanks very interesting I have to see if I should take these 2 vitamins along with my multi and super Vit B complex or if its too much or would hurt me. I don't have any other health issues but would love to see if this improves anything especially to feel stronger build muscle.
