Was given a bag of nuts still in the shells and didn't even think to read it (usually I am super overthetop careful), so I've been munching away happily and thought hm maybe I should check...

"May Contain Wheat"

SERIOUSLY???

Sounds like they're covering all the bases, huh? Major CYA statement in case the shells are covered in flour or something...huh.gif

My guess is that they also process nuts and add flavouring, which may contain wheat, and want to cover their bases. Also some companies that make packs of nuts also seem to make cracker and nut mixes, which would have wheat.

Goes to show you just can't trust anything! Hopefully you haven't been glutened, if the shells are intact and they seemed clean then you might get away with it.

Well so far I feel fine, the shells were all intact and yah I guess the company is covering their butts because it also lists dairy, shellfish, and eggs under the "may contain". I'm paranoid now though...guess I won't eat them. I don't really see how it could get in through the shell and contaminate the nuts but it it was on the outside then cracking them I'm sure would contaminate? Maybe I could wash them?

I've noticed similar things with nuts from Costco but not necessarily in the shell.

I would take it as a CYA legal disclaimer and not worry about it. YMMV.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
