The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat

Party? Cake? I'm on my way!

Or we can party at my house. There is a hot tub in the back yard. One I can not use because when I get out my blood pressure take a nose dive off a cliff and I pass out. <_<

I have no idea what I'm going to make for dinner. I was going to make a roast but didn't think to get it out of the freezer until yesterday so I guess that is tomorrow's dinner because I'm sure it is still solid enough to murder with. I'll think of something I'm sure.

A frozen roast would make a killer blunt object! Sounds nice and tidy to me. Agatha Christie would approve.

w8in that is great news!!! Well, you know what I mean.

Luckily, you turned up again while we are celebrating - this cake might be just the thing for you :P

The thread newbie 101 in Coping with is a great place to start.

So - Mr Mindwarp's Victoria Sponge Cake receipe is:

200g unsalted butter

200g caster sugar

200g gluten-free self raising flour

4 medium to large eggs

1 level teaspoon baking powder

We use Dove's Farm SR flour, which has a blend of rice fl, potato fl. tapioca fl, maize fl, buckwheat fl.xantham gum, baking powder.

Put all ingredients in a bowl and hit hard with a fork (or your favourite device for such activities) until smooth.

Put into 2 tins, smeared with butter and very light dusting of the SR flour to avoid sticking.

Bake for 20 minutes at gas mk 5 , 375f, 190c (reduce for fan oven).

Put jam (we like raspberry) and buttercream icing in the middle (or cream and fruit like Ski's one).

He says you can sub some sugar for chocolate powder for a chocolate cake, and the sponge works for fairy cakes (not sure what you call those. Like cupcakes but smaller).

Enjoy

This, plus cats doing stupid stuff, is, IMHO, exactly what all this technology is all really for.

You seriously look like you're about to gnaw someone's arm off on your way to the cake. I think that I may just get around to that red velvet tonight or tomorrow. So I just finished off a dozen cupcakes and have chocolate chip cookies in the jar? I have stretchy pants. :D

WHEW!  I was nervous there for a minute.  Just thinking about a kabana boy clown gives me the shivers (and not in a good way).  tiritando.gif

Tonight is a shrimp stir fry with Jasmine rice.  Some sour squirty candy thingers on the side.  (They SUCK. So not worth the calories.  )  I will be home Wednesday night and will resume proper cooking!  None of this dang candy crap.  >(///)<

I craved something sour on my way back to the acreage so bought some fruity quishy sour candies that contain liquidy stuff inside. Not only are they NOT the least bit sour, but the liquidy stuff is not as promised.

And then you could cook it and that would get rid of the evidence.

We've already plotted kidnapping of our cabana boys, why not add plotting murder on a public forum to our list of nefarious plans?

w8in4dave Community Regular

I think steaks tonight! Baked Potato and who knows what eles I will conger up :)

And then you could cook it and that would get rid of the evidence.

I read a story once where the woman clunked her hubs over the head with a leg of lamb, killing him instantly.

She cooked it up and served it to the investigating officers who promptly ate the evidence.

I found that disturbingly clever (and once thought about using that plan years ago.....but decided I should just get a divorce instead.)

anyhoo :)

The basil is flourishing (not sure why with all this dang rain) so I am thinking Pasta Puttanesca tonight..

Seriously, more than 12 inches in the last 3 weeks???  for the love of mike, STOP already!!!

YO SKI

Sylvia told me via email that the LEMONIES were a big hit with her friends. Those are going to be served to my next dinner guests along with

Mr. MINDWARP's Victoria sponge and strawberries with whipped cream.

The local farm has ridiculously good strawberries right now, which I eat with reckless abandon.

Thanks for all the good suggestions, peeps. x

You might try Heallix.  It's a silver solution with fulvic acid. I just put the solution on with a cotton ball.  It seemed to stop the nerve pain. Again,  not in your eyes or ears.   Go to heallix.com to read more about it and decide for yourself Also,  I do think nerve and celiac combined have a lot to do with your susceptibility to shingles breaking out.

Celiac disease requires both genetic potential and a triggering stress event to activate the genes. Otherwise it remains dormant and only a potential problem. So having the genetic potential is not deterministic for celiac disease. Many more people have the genes than actually develop the disease. But if you don't have the genes, the symptoms are likely being caused by something else.

Yes, i pulled raw ancetry data and saw i have 2/3 markers for DQ2.2 but have heard from friends in genetics that this raw data can be wildly innacurate

Thanks, I’m still dealing with the pain and tingling and itching and feeling like bugs or something crawling around on my face and scalp. It’s been a miserable experience. I saw my eye doc last week, the eye itself was okay, so they didn’t do anything. I did take a 7 day course of an antiviral. I’m hoping for a turnaround soon! My life is full of stress but I have been on / off the gluten free diet for the last year , after being talked into going back on gluten to have a biopsy, that looked okay. But I do have positive antibody levels that have been responsive  to a gluten free diet. I can’t help but wonder if the last year has caused all this.

I don't think any apps are up to date, which is exactly why this happened to you. Most of the data in such apps is years old, and it doesn't get updated in real time. Ultimately there is no substitution for learning to read labels. The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
