Civil Servic Testing

Well I finally got notice that I was accepted for a civil service exam that I will take next Weds.

Keep those fingers crossed, say a prayer or two and send positive vibes that first it won't snow that day, at least not too much :( and second that I can keep myself from backspacing automatically on the typing part of the test.

I know I'll do fine on the written exam but that nasty right hand lag time sometimes has me reversing letters.

I guess I should do a third positive thought that there actually be will a job opening with all the cutbacks and they aren't just scheduling the test to get more money in the state coffers.

edit Just noticed I left the E off service so I guess I should have you keep your fingers crossed on my spelling too. :D

Well the computers were messed up when I got there so we had the written test first, which I know I did really well on. Then came the typing test. I have that nasty lag time on my right side due to my neuro damage and it almost got me. I failed the typing test the first time, by 1 error! They let us take it again so I slowed down a bit and did the best I could. Then they told me that they couldn't tell me if I passed. I was so disappointed I felt like crying. After I got in my car one of the women ran out and said she couldn't say whether I had passed or not but I can do this... and she was smiling ear to ear and told me to have a great week. Now comes the wait for a job opening.

Thanks Patti, I had the thought the other day that with the state of the budget in my state right now and all the cuts that they may 'offer' retirement to some of the higher level folks that have been around 20 or 30 years and bump some others up leaving a space for the newer, lower pay scale folks. Keeping my fingers crossed as I sure could use a job that has some form of health insurance. If nothing else there is always retail sales if my savings go to low before I hear anything.

That makes a lot of sense--so many states are looking for ways to trim their budgets.

What a sweetheart! I love it when people reinterpret the rules to do something nice. :)

Good luck on the job search. I hope your dream job is just around the corner.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
