I recently started buying a candy that contains peppermint oil. I have noticed a difference in my stool. Not necessarily a bad difference just a difference. I thought I had read that peppermint oil had a calming effect on the stomach but dont remember reading about any effects on the intestines .

This may be a weird question but,,Can peppermint oil be a stool softener??

The ingredient on the candy is:

sugar ,glucose,natural peppermint oil.

hi "chill"

I had trouble with peppermint tea. It was suggested to me as a "stomach soother" when I was still undiagnosed and had a ton of gastro upset.

I felt awful! It burned my mouth, throat and tummy and I had the D. bummer

@N00dnutt, been there, done that! Cheers!

@trents You're right, thanks for pointing that out. On @somethinglikeolivia comment regarding potential ingesting or cross contamination; there is a product marketed in Australia as "GluteGuard" which is designed for just this scenario. It is not a defence for and is not recommended for use by full-blown celiac disease but, it helps those with GI. I'll be reading slower in future so I don't skim over the subject matter. Cheers.

@N00dnutt, as OP explained earlier, she had a gastroscopy done earlier while she had been eating plenty of gluten for months. It was negative despite strong positive antibody scores.
