Chicken And Rice Soup

Hey Everyone,

I am looking for some chicken and rice soup that is already premade and every one that i have looked at had some form of wheat. Why wheat is needed in a broth based soup of chicken and rice is beyond me.

Anyway, if anyone knows of a good one please let me know.

Healthy choice has thier Chicken and Rice soup listed as gluten-free on the Delphi lists. I would read the label anyway, of course.

Also Dinty Moore, Kettle Creations Chicken 'N Onion with Wild Rice ,ShariAnn Organics Soups and Sheltons.

I've only heard of two of those brands, so maybe some of them are regional.

Progresso has a gluten-free one. Their label will say, "contains: wheat, soy, dairy" etc. Just check the label to make sure you get one that does not contain wheat. :)

Campbell's condensed chicken and rice soup, in the red and white can is gluten-free, and I enjoy it regularly.

One thing to be careful with the Progresso... I noticed this once. I've always bought the Chicken and Wild Rice, I think I remeber looking at the Chicken and White Rice, and seeeing it had wheat in it. I know that their current selling Chicken and Wild Rice is gluten-free.

I just looked at the Progresso Chicken and Wild Rice soup states that it contains soy, milk and egg, it does not say anything about gluten. I looked at the ingredients list, and noticed that it contains MSG and Modified Food Starch (Does not list the source). :angry::angry:

It is so easy to make it yourself and make a pot full and freeze it.

I use "Swanson chic. broth" to cook my chicken pieces," Herb.ox chicken bouillon" to add additional flavor, add Uncle Ben's rice. and of course chicken simmered in a pot. Pick the chicken pieces and add to the pot. Add whatever fresh herbs you like. Onion, basil, red pepper, and corn starch to thicken if you like it that way. I don't. Put what you don't use in the freezer and pull it out in the am when you want it for dinner. Make a big pot. Mix with a salad and your have a great meal.

Add carrots is you like, or other veggies.

Good cooking.

Campbell's chicken and rice soup lists modified wheat starch as one of the ingredients. Is it different in Canada?

Shelton's has a gluten-free chicken and rice you can get at a wild oats or whole foods type store.

Something is clicking my memory that the Swanson's broth has either wheat or unlabled starch.....

      Hi Everyone,  I do appreciate your replies to my original post.   Here is where I am now in this journey.  I am currently seeing a Naturopath.  One thing I did not post before is that I take Esomeprazole for GERD.  My Naturopath believes that the decrease in the gastric acid has allowed the yeast to grow.    She has put me on some digestive enzymes.  She also put me on Zinc, Selenium, B 12, as she felt that I was not absorbing my vitamins. I am about 5 weeks into this treatment, and I am feeling better. I did not have any trouble taking the Fluconazole.

It's already helping to make me feel better (with some ups and downs, of course), so I do think the yeast is definitely a problem for me on top of my celiac disease and I'm hoping my GI doctor can look into this a bit further.  So, how about you?  Did the candida come back, or is it still gone following your fluconazole treatment?  Also, was it awful to take fluconazole?  I understand that taking an antifungal can cause a reaction that sometimes makes people feel sick while they're taking it.  I hope you're doing better still !

For the digestive misery, stick to simple, easy-to-digest foods (like plain rice, bananas, and bone broth) and drink plenty of water and electrolytes to stay hydrated. It feels like the longest month ever, but you are doing the right thing to get a clear diagnosis, which can be crucial for your long-term health and getting the proper care.
