I apologize, in advance, if this has been asked (answered) somewhere already (I tried the search feature on the forum...no success)...

It would be helpful, to me, if I could "narrow down" some brands/flavors to investigate some commercial salad dressings that are gluten-free that others, here, eat...

So...can anyone tell me of any commercial/store-bought salad dressings that they use that are eat???

I've been trying to read labels, but most have ingredients that are a "mystery" to me (i.e. "spice", "natural flavor", etc, etc)...

In the U.S., the VAST majority of dressings are gluten-free. And because wheat has to be listed, reading ingredients for dressings is usually easy. I'm sure there are some dressings somewhere that use barley, but I can't name them, and it would most often be listed as malt anyway.

Kraft will always clearly list any gluten so there's no mystery about reading Kraft dressing ingredients. If it doesn't say wheat, rye or barley, it's gluten-free. I also use Marie's and even Kroger after checking for wheat. We also use Good Seasonings Italian dry mix to make our own Italian.

Overall, dressing really is pretty easy.

I second what Richard said. I use many different brands. I suppose its possible to have "malt vinegar" used in one, but it will be labelled. The other thing to look for are the "Asian" types that have soy sauce. Should list the ingredients of the soy sauce - "soy sauce (soy, wheat, water...)"

Hidden Valley has a lot of dressings that are gluten free. They've started putting a little yellow icon next to the products on their website if they're safe.

I think the only unsafe hidden valley bottle dressings are the Caesar and creamy Parmesan but you would still want to double check any before you try them. My two favorites are the original ranch and Italian with herbs. Oh and southwest chipotle is amazing on chicken or in tacos, wraps, or even fries!

I like Briannas french dressing its yummy. They have all kinds of dressings too.

Oh my gosh, I just discovered Brianna's dressings. They are so freaking good. The positive is that I've never enjoyed salads so much in my life. The negative is that the odds of my husband ever getting Kraft dressing near my face again without a gun to my head is pretty much zero. :lol:

Those look yummy. I'll look for them. They have a ginger one that is not gluten-free according to the website - has soy sauce

Because you two recommended them, I got the Brianna's Blush vinegerette. So yummy. I'm eating it right now on a salad with steak, strawberries and blue cheese. :D

I just happen to know that Wish Bone Russian Dressing contains wheat. It was my hubs favorite dressing but it was clearly labeled as having wheat in it.

If you are avoiding soy you may need to make your own dressing. It is pretty easy to do by just adding some olive oil and vinager and maybe some lemon juice to a jar with some herbs and salt/pepper and shaking it up good. Let it sit in the refrig for a few hours. If you want it thick add a teaspoon or so of psyillium husks to thicken it. Easy-peasy.

These guys have given you great suggestions, but I want to throw one more at you. I usually make my own, but sometimes, I just don't wanna!! :)

Marzetti's Simply Dressed (in the chilled section of the produce dept.) because there is no soybean oil in them and they clearly label the ingredients.

They do not contain preservatives, trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, MSG and artificial flavors. (all of which seem to give me grief <_< )

The flavors are very good. I especially liked the cole slaw one, the champagne one and the strawberry & poppy seed one:

I only really like oil and vinegar based dressings so I normally make my own but often have a bottle of Maple Grove Farms of Vermont Cranberry Balsamic in the fridge for when I don't want to make my own.

I really like Ken's dressings they have quite a few options as well as Old Cape Cod. ? I have made my own before but sometimes I'm just too lazy lol

      So the tTG-IGA at 28 is positive for celiac disease. There are some other medical conditions that can cause elevated tTG-IGA but this is unlikely. There are some people for whom the dairy protein casein can cause this but by far the most likely cause is celiac disease. Especially when your small bowel lining is "scalloped". Your Serum IGA 01 (aka, "total IGA") at 245 mg/dl is within normal range, indicating you are not IGA deficient. But I also think it would be wise to take your doctor's advice about the sucraid diet and avoiding dairy . . . at least until you experience healing and your gut has had a chance to heal, which can take around two years. After that, you can experiment with adding dairy back in and monitor symptoms. By the way, if you want the protein afforded by dairy but need to avoid casein, you can do so with whey protein powder. Whey is the other major protein in dairy.

      hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents   . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood test that day. i just got my results back and it indicates celiac disease i think 😭   im honestly happy bc now i KNOW and i can go gluten free. and i am SO MAD at this doctor for dismissing me for a simple blood test that wouldn’t have cost her anything !!!!!!!!!!! im sorry, im so emotional right now, i have been sick my whole life and never knew why, i feel so much better already   my results from labcorp:   Celiac Ab tTG TIgA w/Rflx Test Current Result and Flag Previous Result and Date Units Reference Interval t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 01 28 High U/mL 0-3 Negative 0 - 3 Weak Positive 4 - 10 Positive >10 Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) has been identified as the endomysial antigen. Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352

      Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong.   yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.
