My girlfriend is living there for a year and i am planning to visit her. so far i have done ok in foreign countries with eating and eating out (i.e. france, germany) but i am a bit worried about Singapore. any tips? when her and i travel together i try to not make a big deal out of the gluten thing..im careful but dont drive her and other people crazy, but i fear Singapore might be a problem and i dont wanna go there and starve to death. she loves eating out and i enjoy eating out with her so i dont want to ruin this trip

I'd be careful in Singapore...my parents lived there for several yeasr (this was prior to my diagnosis) and 'stall food' was hugely popular but it almost always contained soy sauce (and I'm pretty sure it wasn't gluten-free soy sauce considering the vast amounts used!) I think you'll do better to stick to the nicer restaurants but you probably want to phone ahead to see if they can accomodate you...I haven't been back in several years so perhaps things have changed plus S'pore is a pretty cosmopolitan place so hopefully the basic knowledge is there...just don't assume.

Hi. I just moved to Singapore in January (2013) and was recently diagnosed with gluten-intolerance. So far, I've found it tricky to eat out here at the local stalls (hawker centers). Everything has soy sauce in it and it's not gluten free. Other dishes such as Indian foods typically have deep fried dishes mixed in with the other stuff. I've had better success eating out in very high end places, but be prepared to spend a serious amount of money on your meal. Most of the time, I just cook at home. There are plenty of gluten-free products available from local supermarkets and organic stores. If you need some recommendations, let me know.

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
