Substitute For Ritz Crackers?

I don't necessarily mean for snacking, although I do love them. I use several recipes that call for crushed Ritz Crackers, and nothing I have used seems to give a similar taste or texture. This is for topping casseroles, coating fritters etc.

We like using the Glutino original. Hmm I think I need to make broccoli casserole now.

So glad I saw this! I have just started venturing out into the "specialty" gluten free foods, starting with Glutino pretzels - where I live the crackers are hard to find, but now I'm on a mission!!

I was going to mention this as well but want to point out that they are not as salty or have a "buttery" flavor to them. To top a casserole, I would toss them with a bit of salt (and any other seasoning that sounds good . . . I use onion and garlic powder in EVERYTHING I do) and a little melted butter.

They're pricey . . . as all gluten-free crackers are. If you decide you like them, you can get them online in bulk for cheaper.

Thanks, yall. I will definitely try tossing the Glutino ones with butter and salt. That sounds like it would work.

Yeah, replacing the Ritz on the broccoli casserole is tough. I have used bread crumbs with some seasoning instead of cracker crumbs - I make bread and destroy it just so I have crumbs around. Which I need to do today, come to think of it...

I haven't tried the crackers as a topping/coating yet (they are pretty good to snack on with spreadable cheese though) - however I do use gluten-free cornflakes mixed with melted butter for things like potato casserole and vegetable casserole. I also use them crushed to cover chicken/pork chops by adding some seasonings and such. Once I found them and (knock on wood) can still tolerate them, cooking in my house became a lot happier :)

Now I'm wondering how Mesa Sunrise crumbs would be on top of broccoli-cheese casserole. Hmmm.

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.
