However, the use of these is not recommended for those with autoimmune problems so I would not advise using them at all.   4. If you do not bite your nails, then it's highly unlikely that the nail polish is causing a problem. You are correct, gluten cannot be absorbed topically. One thing that most doctors seem to overlook is that a repeatedly high tTg can signify another autoimmune issue going on, as tTg can be a marker for other diseases besides Celiac so why they never go there...
  5. I have found that the vast majority of the gluten-free prepared food mixes like these are horribly salty and just not very good tasting. I make everything from scratch because, having Sjogren's Syndrome, it's sheer torture if I ingest too much salt. The effect on dry mouth is as bad as being glutened.   13. The deamidated gliadin test is the newer version of the older, AGA/IgA and AGA/IgG tests. The older tests are still very useful to test for dietary compliance and were not used exclusively for diagnostic purposes. It was part of a panel of 5 tests used for diagnosis of Celiac Disease. I never said that oats cause no problem for Celiacs, only that the reaction may not be from the protein in oats or the oats are not contaminated, which would be expected from certified, batch tested oats. I am sure there is a very small percentage of people who cannot tolerate them, as there are very small percentages of people who cannot tolerate other grains...

  18. I agree and I make the best pumpkin pie ever with this crust. No one knew it was gluten-free until I cut a slice for myself and then they nearly died when I ate a piece. I love doing that to people! It comes out just as good whether you pre-bake it or not....this crust does not get gummy. My non-gluten-free husband absolutely loved it!
  19. Many times when people do not do as well on the gluten-free diet as they should is because of the very high incidence of other food intolerances. It's not always about gluten. The one and only reason I see for doing a re-test would be to have concrete proof on paper that your son has Celiac so when he gets older, he will not doubt the diagnosis and start eating gluten again. However, even with his in-your-face symptoms, he may still test negative on the antibody test, even if he has Celiac, so you'll be back to were you are now...
