  1. This is such an annoying article. People are so weak about refusing to eat unhealhty choices that the article is encouraging them to lie and blame it on an ailment they don't have. Where are people's backbones these days?!
  2. I had the same issue. I've come to discover that I have an intolerance to nuts. They make my stomach cramp just like gluten and I've noticed less puffiness under my eyes after eliminating them. Have you tried eating plain nuts to see if you get the same reaction?
  3. Thank you for your advice!!

  4. Well, I felt better within weeks, but you'll get varying answers from everyone. I encourage you to check out a Raw diet if you remain vegetarian. Not that you have to eat everything raw, but their meat substitutes use mostly nuts and seeds and are delicious. The diet takes a lot of work, but now you can find Raw pre-packaged foods at Whole Foods...they are...
  5. Well, two things came to mind when I read your text. 1) you say you are a vegetarian. If you consume soy as your main source of protein, keep in mind that it's likely doing a number on your thyroid and soy has been know to cause many arthritic symptoms. Also, vegetarians need to be certain they get enough vitamin B, because a lack of it can cause tingling...
  6. Hi, I seriously could have written the same post. I've gone through exactly the same symptoms, tests and experiences, except I haven't been put on thyroid meds yet (my T3 hormone fluctuates from being low to low normal. I also have the exact genes you do. I
  7. Well, two thoughts come to my mind. One, is it possible you hurt the other knee overcompensating for the hurt knee? The second is have you been test for RA? Autoimmune disorders are so interlinked and many people on this board have RA and other arthritic issues as a result of gluten intolerance and find relief after going gluten free. I've noticed that many...
  8. Well, I can't be of much help, but I can offer this. Sjogren's and Celiac are closely related, and it's thought that Celiac triggers Sjorgren's and other autoimmune disorders in the system. So, in my opinion, you are going down the right path by eliminating gluten. I recommend that you read Dangerous Grains for insight.
  9. One more thought about coffee, especially decaf. Unless it decaffienated using the swiss water process, decaf coffee contains a load of chemicals and pesticides. Since you have an autoimmune disease and are in the process of healing, I too recommend switching over to tea. Good quality green tea is not bitter and doesn't give you the ups and downs of coffee...
  10. I had the same experience there as well. They're off my list now.
  11. I agree. vbecton, I did want to assure you that I found some research online today that said low platelets and WBC is indeed related to Celiac. Mine has gone from low normal to out of range (platelets) over the past few years, while the WBC have always been in range, except once, but most often they come back at the very lowest point before going out of range...
  12. I had the gluten-free pizza yesterday-oh, yum! My hubby and I shared that and each got a salad. He can eat dairy and I can't. So his half had cheese and my half was completely cheese free. I'm so happy to have another option. I asked the waiter if gluten-free pizza is ordered often...and he said they've had a lot of people come in lately for it.
  13. yes, the brown rice pasta, right? Good stuff - just don't over cook...followndirections carefully.
  14. I always have this in the back of my mind since my readings are similar. However, they won't consider looking at this until they get dangerously low (40,000 and under if I remember correctly). My fluctuate between 121-160. I do think a gluten-free diet will help resolve this over time.
  15. I don't know that Western Doctors will acknowledge this as a real issue or not. Once I mentioned it to my doctor and he looked at me like I was out of my mind (well, I sure I am but not on this issue ). I have so many food allergies, this is the only thing that explains it. I'll be interested to see if others have ever received an official diagnosis from...
  16. FYI, all my other numbers are normal as well. I should mention that I have a history of my thyroid levels being perfect, except for my T3, which is the active form of the hormone. I've been monitoring that closely to see if I need medication. Be sure to get copies of your blood work. My doctor told me my thyroid was fine until I got a copy of my blood work...
  17. Bare with my typos, I'm on an iPad and it's hard to type . I don't have advice for you but I wanted to let you know ive had just about the same readings on my WBC and platelets for two years. My doctor is not concerned with it. And I can tell you I'm still alive and healthy there's so many things that can drive down our immune systems...vitamin and mineral...
  18. I also have been diagnosed with sjpogrens...however vie never had a symptom. I'm hoping going gluten free stopped it I it's track.
  19. Good, it sounds like you're all set then!
  20. I second mag supplements and eliminating dairy. Dairy causes the same issues with me.
  21. Well, since you can't force someone to read a book, perhaps provide a list of food your child can eat and make sure to bring it or that it is available. It seems if you are already ready to "fight" and are going into this situation in defense, you have more of an opportunity to burn bridges. The truth is you can't control what she feeds your child when you...
  22. Hi, Through this process, keep in mind that you can be non-celiac gluten-intolerant . . . so don't rule out a gluten free diet just because tests come back negative. If you feel better, I believe that's all you need! Hope you continue on your path of wellness.
  23. I had a similar experience with Royal Carribean about two years ago...had the best trip, never got sick, and even managed to lose four pounds on a cruise!!! Glad to hear you had a great experience as well!
  24. I would just stay at a hotel. That should send them a message loud and clear.
  25. I would also suggest changing venues. Who can support such a place?!
