  1. Just keep in mind veggies, fruit, etc are carbs, they are complex carbs vs. simple carbs found in processed foods.
  2. I don't know if you are religious or not, but if I were you, I would remember that what we "inherit" and what we don't is God's will. We cannot control these things. Your children could be born with Celiac disease whether or not you have it. The great thing is that you'll be more in tune with food interlorances/allergies, which are getting more and more prevelant...
  3. The most comprehensive and best digestive enzymes are the ones available on mercola.com. My holistic doctor (Glen Depke) actually formulated them (he sells them on his site as well). They are more on the expensive side, but are very effective. I used them for a long time. I've also found Jarrow's brand very good, but not as good as the other. The Ox Bile...
  4. My morning smoothie: Two scoops of Sun Warrior Raw Brown Rice Protein, vanilla flavor (about 35 grams of protein)...does contain Stevia. Two cups of coconut Milk (unsweetned) or Coconut water from fresh, young cocounut 1/2 avocado (makes it rich and creamy and filling!) Cocoa Powder to Taste 2 Tablesppons of L-glutamine powder (good for post-workout...
  5. You may have a vitamin/mineral deficiency from not being able to absorbt he nutrients from your food. I would suggest getting a liquid multi (I take isotonix) twice per day.
  6. I used to crave foods like crazy before I stopped eating processed foods (for the most part anyways). I suspect a few things: (1) you may have a candida overgrowth, which will set your carb cravings out of control (2) you may not be absorbing the vitamins/minerals from your food so your body is in starvation mode, despite the fact that you're eating reguarly...
  7. Kombucha is the best!!! I drink it as often as possible. I even got my hubby hooked. Wholefoods in So. Cal now has it on tap too!!
  8. My sublingual drops list it as Methlcobalamin. Your vitamin should distinguish if the source is Methlcobalamin or cyanocobalamin. I get mine from my holistic doctor, but you can find them online as well.
  9. I've been doing this diet for two years now. I've maintained a great weight and I'm rarely hungry. BTW, for those who worry high fat equals high cholestrol, my doctor says my numbers are text book and that I must have great genes. When I told him it was all the coconuts, avocados, seeds, organic meats I eat, he didn't buy it and said again it was from my...
  10. It's very important for individuals with stomach issues/intesintal damage to use the form Methylcobalamin vitmain B, which is biologically active (doesn't take our bodies to convert it) like the type that starts with a "c" (sorry, can't recall the name) normally found in the cheaper forms of vitamins you find at the health stores.
  11. I put psyllium husks in my smoothie every morning...great source of fiber and naturally gluten free. For probiotics, I just switched back to Lame Advertisement...great for celiacs who need to repair their intestinal tracks. They add in many beneficial ingredients, such as l-glutamine to help repair and prevent leaky gut.
  12. Congrats, always great to hear positive outcomes. What the SCD diet? Is is like the elimination diet?
  13. Hi, I'm terribly sorry to hear of your loss and subsequent health issues. I could tell by reading your posts over the past few weeks that you've been in distress...my heart went out to you. On the positive side, you've learned more about gluten intolerance than you probably cared to and now you can be another ambassador out there informing people of...
  14. I would also recommend Adrenal and Thyroid tests, both can be affected by Celiac Disease, and both cause great fatigue.
  15. Eat more fiber, cut out dairy, and take probiotics and digestive enzymes if you're not already. Since your diet change, you may have started consuming something else in place of gluten that you're intolerant to. Try to investigate what you're consuming regularly and try cutting it out for a while.
  16. I'm so sorry to hear of your experience...what a nightmare. They should have forwarned you so you could bring your own food. As you stated, I've been on two cruises on RC since going gluten-free, and they were beyond accomodating. What's up with their corporate trips? Both my sister and I went together on our trips and both times the wait staff is the dining...
  17. If you have indigestion, you most likely have low stomach acid, not too much of it. The anti-acids just lower them further and create more trouble digesting food, as explained by another posted above. Black Licorice is a great stomach soother. Do get tested for h-pylori when you can...I recommend looking it up and seeing if its symptoms match yours. It's...
  18. I eat only "unprocessed" foods - meaning, I do eat some packaged foods like Coconut milk, protein powders, etc., but I only buy it if it has natural ingredients. If it has a chemical, was packaged in a foreign country, etc, it goes back on the shelf. Mostly I try to eat organic veggies and meat, but I still makes smoothies, etc, where the former items I mentioned...
  19. Gastritis can take on different symptoms for me, depending on how angry my stomach is. Sometimes it shoots pain behind my shoulder blades, and my stomach almost always feels bruised. It also burns at time, my digestion is slow (food will feel like it's just sitting in my stomach) or I can get a "pill-is-caught-my-my-throat" feeling. All around, it's no fun...
  20. I would probably cut out all other typical high allergy foods in the meantime, soy, dairy, etc, to see if you can improve your symptoms and get some sleep before you get to see your doctor.
  21. Unfortunately, yes. I began becoming interested in this years ago, thanks to Dr. Mercola. He has written a lot about the connection between Vitamin D deficiency and autoimmune disorders, cancers, etc. I believe this contributed a lot to my health problems...not that it causes gluten intolerances, but it may be enough to trigger or "activate" the gene if you...
  22. So cute, and such good advice!!!
  23. My gastritis was only slightly improved by a gluten free diet, but I've had to eliminate many other things as well. It turns out I have h-pylori, which was not detected in my biopsy but later in a stool test. I'm trying to figure out what to do for treatment...I try to avoid synthetic medicine at all costs, so I'm not happy with the thought of going on antibiotics...
  24. Geez, just reading the process of how McDonald's fries are made (partially fried before being fried again?!) horrifies me!
  25. Just a side tip, one of the best motion-sickness "meds" is ginger, and it's definitely gluten-free and capsules are available. An added bonus is that ginger is great for upset stomachs. Google it, if interested. Works wonders when dramamine failed my sister.
