				ARCHIVED Treating Vitamin D Deficiency
Looking for answers replied to quincy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Do you live in an area with sunshine? If so, the best way is to get it naturally from the sun, because you can't overdose on it (of course, you don't want to let yourself get sunburned). I'm very fair skinned so I lay out on my deck for 7-8 minutes each side between the hours of 11-1 when the sun is at it's best (I've gotten all my information from Dr. Mercola... -

				ARCHIVED Biochem B-12 3000 Mcg
Looking for answers replied to tomtom009's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't know what type of Vitamin B it is, one type starts with a "C" and my doctor said that it's no good for those with absorption issues. He said to use the methylcobalamin form, which is immediately bio-available and does not need to be converted. Being the hardhead I am, I went off and bought my own, the one that starts with a "c" which is the most common... -

				ARCHIVED Uncontrollable Weight Gain
Looking for answers replied to Rebecca Madrid's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Had similar issues,my doctor tested me for Adrenal fatigue and I had it. He said many people with severe food allergies/celiac weaken their adrenals from the stress these conditions put on the body. Something to think about...it greatly affects metabolism, hypoglycemia, nutritional and hormal embalances, causes dizziness, fatigue, emotional issues, etc. -

				ARCHIVED Seasonal Allergies

ARCHIVED Great Find - Want To Share!
Looking for answers posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi, everyone. I don't have an official recipe, but I wanted to give you a head's up about raw kelp noodles. They may not sound appetizing, but they are terrific when cooked in a wok or with any sauces...they take on the flavor and get soft (they are crunchy before cooking). The best part is that they are not processed, contain lots of minerals and iodine... -

Looking for answers replied to kpryan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You may be having reactions to other foods as well. I went through the same when I was new to the diet, then realized I also am intolerant to dairy, nuts, corn and soy. Also, try taking enzymes and probiotics with each meal...they help. -

ARCHIVED Strange Sensations... Anyone Else Experienced This?
Looking for answers replied to Kim27's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If they examined your stomach then yes. Were you having the same trouble prior to the examination? I had a endoscopy done and they reported gastritis back to me. -

ARCHIVED Strange Sensations... Anyone Else Experienced This?
Looking for answers replied to Kim27's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, I had that for years. In my case it was gastritis, and it set in right after eating and it made me want to eat more as well. After a while it radiated to my back and became very troublesome. In case you don't know, gastritis is the inflammation of the stomach lining. I took black licorice root for it and it would always calm it down, but I didn't get... -

ARCHIVED Everyone Eats While I Watch: Your Honesty Needed, Please
Looking for answers replied to Lynayah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are definitely not being selfish, and I would have the same reaction. On the other hand, you obviously have a wonderful husband who truly enjoys your company and wants you to be there. Perhaps you guys could get you something beforehand and then you could enjoy tea or something. Again, I totally agree with you, but I always play devil's advocate... -

ARCHIVED Excessive Weight Gain Since Starting Diet
Looking for answers replied to glutenfree mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would suggest they test her thyroid to make sure that it's not contributing to the weight gain. I was SUPER DUPER hungry all the time until I made many changes to my diet. I cut out processed foods, now I eat A LOT of healthy fats (two avocados a day, tons of olive and coconut oils, seeds, etc) along with plenty of healthy proteins and veggies with each... -

ARCHIVED Can Someone Comment On Thyroid Tests?
Looking for answers replied to mushroom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I wish I could help but I don't have an answer. I do have all the same symptoms and readings myself, except my TSH is low normal. I do know that iodine and selenium are required to convert T4 to T3, so a deficiency in these minerals may play a role. -

ARCHIVED Catholic Communion Logistics - Need Advice!
Looking for answers replied to Emily928's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If anyone has advice for me I'd appreciate it as well. Communion at my church requires us to take a a piece of the loaf from our pastor and dunk it into the wine. The wine is always full of bread so I haven't been able to participate for a while and it makes me sad. -

ARCHIVED Celiac And Obsessive Compulsive Disorder/anxiety
Looking for answers replied to lakegirl410's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had OCD back to my earliest childhood memory. It was debilating throughout my childhood and teenage years. I went through therapy, tried meds, neither helped. I read a really good book on the subject that helped me control some of the symptoms througout college and early adulthood so I could eliminate the compulsions, but the obessions continued. Then ... -

ARCHIVED Meaning Of A Test Result
Looking for answers replied to masterjen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
One more thing. The pattern is the first step in figuring out the automimmune disorder, but they can dig a little deeper with a follow-up test and determine which disease you may be at risk for. I don't remember all the technical terms but I have the SSB type, which is associated with Sjogren's and rules me out for Lupus and the other automimme diseases listed... -

ARCHIVED Meaning Of A Test Result
Looking for answers replied to masterjen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I also have elevated ANAs and was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome...this was before going gluten free and I haven't been retested since. I was 1:40 then, a few years ago. Everyone has ANAs, but not everyone's is elevated. After much research into the matter, you must have symptoms and the test results to be diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. Since I...
