  1. Did your doc do a visual exam, in which he actually looked at the lining through the scope, or did he just take random blind samples? If he took random blind samples, he could have missed patchy damage (like mine was). Or, as Chelse said, you could be intolerant, which does not cause damage, just illness. You could also be fortunate enough to have caught...
  2. I use ibuprofen (only take it with food!) and hot moist packs for muscle pain. Nothing works on my muscles as well as a long, hot bath!
  3. Stick carefully to the gluten-free diet, you should be fine. As Tiffany said, as long as you stay on the gluten-free diet, you have no more chance than any other woman of having a miscarriage.
  4. Welcome to the board! We are always glad to help and listen, and especially glad to make new friends!
  5. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you lived next door to the woman that told me about celiac, then later told me I got sick eating whole wheat because my intestines were not used to roughage!
  6. I would probably get banned for joining you, Vincent. It is my pet peeve, the one I am most vocal about: People have to take responsibility for themselves and their children! That includes, but is not limited to, what you feed them when you know they have food problems!
  7. I only get that message when I accidently double click on the link, so maybe that is what's happening.
  8. I still eat oats. I only use McCann's Irish Oats. They did have a cc issue a while back, but they have taken care of it. I am quite sensitive, in that I will feel the pain in my gut if a reaction is taking place, and I have not had that pain with the McCann's oats. I did have that pain with the Quaker oats, though, so if you are going to eat oats, be...
  9. We have all felt alone, all been frustrated, all been scared. And we can all tell you that it can only get better! You will have difficulties, set backs, and great changes, but you will have better health, and be physically stronger for it. Let us know what the doc says, we are here if you have questions or just need to vent.
  10. Not only intolerant, but very allergic! Last time I ate rice, I ate 2 crackers, and wound up in the ER with a bad reaction!
  11. I did this with a spatula while making pancakes. It was the last of my flours, on a Sunday morning, so I had no pancakes for my breakfast! And it was all my fault!
  12. Some people are just blooming idiots! Just brush off the rudeness, don't let others steal your peace. Try to be thankful that they haven't had to learn about celiac the hard way.
  13. I have apnea. By the time I found a doc that listened to what I was saying, I was in bankruptcy, and couldn't afford the sleep test to determine the severity. No test, no cpap. I take antihistamines at night to stop the mucus production, sleep on my side, and have the head of my bed elevated 4 inches. It helps quite a bit for me! My sister has a cpap...
  14. I usually know in 5-10 minutes. I start by feeling weird, then in an hour, the pain sets in.
  15. I will not join any lawsuits against McDonald's on this. Celiac is not caused by eating fries, and I fail to see how the fries caused ulcers and epileptic seizures. Sounds like the parents are trying to blame their child's illness on anything other than genetics!
  16. I've never heard of untreated celiacs living to 90. Where did you hear this? Everythiong I have seen and read said they died much earlier than that, of terrible illnesses.
  17. My racoon eyes come with my allergies. I never stopped to consider it as a gluten reaction. Something for me to think about!
  18. Thank you Pauliine.
  19. Basically, they want you to write down what you ate, and how much of it you ate. Hopefully, the dietician will be able to help you. You will get the hang of the gluten-free diet, it will just take time. Ask any questions, we will be glad to help!
  20. Yes, please keep us posted.
  21. Now here is where being open-minded might cause problems: I don't think it is a waste of money. Just because I cannot have wheat, does not mean it would not be a good thing for someone else. I would like to see more research money put into celiac disease and such, though.
  22. Some types of peanuts use flour in them, too. The little bags my bank gives away states that wheat is used in the coating on the peanuts.
  23. When my biopsy was done, damage was patchy. I had gone gluten-free in Feb, and was tested in Sept. If the GI had not been using a viewing scope to look for ulcers, it would have been missed entirely. I understand from some of the posts that some GIs don't look, they just take random samples. That could be why you showed no damage.
  24. All I can do is curl up in bed. Tiffany, how do I make ginger tea? I found some premade bags of it, but they were blended with teas I am allergic to.
  25. That's nice to know, thanks Richard!
