  1. Rice is a big no-no for me! Last time I ate it, I wound up in the ER for anaphlaxis. It is related to grass, which I am allergic to.
  2. Everything I have found in my local stores from Atkins had some form of gluten in it, so I don't even bother with it.
  3. My neice and I have both had low blood pressure all of our lives. we have had no problems from it, other than getting cold easily. I have had my heart and circulation checked, and both are wonderful. I just don't limit salt, and drink plenty of water.
  4. Yep. My conditioner had wheat protein in it, and my scalp itched horribly when I used it.
  5. 1. Yes 2. No 3. Female Looks like I fit in with the majority on this one! Good luck with your project!
  6. Yes, you are preaching to the choir, don't we sing so magnificently! Many of us have been in your position, and know exactly how you feel! Give yourself a rest and enjoy your holidays!
  7. Thank you! I used to eat tons of their beef stew, and now that it's winter, I would like to have some again!
  8. Breakfast does NOT mean cereal! I eat whatsoever I please for breakfast, as long as it is gluten-free. For instance, yesterday I enjoyed leftover manwich mixed with mashed potatoes for breakfast. I enjoy pancakes for dinner sometimes, too. As for lunch, I can nuke leftovers, or make something from scratch. I am fortunate to be a stay home mom, so I have...
  9. I am having to deal with my food issues. I think that I am going through a stage of depression over it right now, since I can't eat most of what my family eats. I know that this stage will pass, and that I will be healthy. I think that I have to have my time of grief, just so I can move on. I, too, do my own baking from scratch. It is just easier for...
  10. O- here. I tried to find the info on the blood type diets, but all I came up with was sales ads for the books.
  11. Are you getting enough fiber? I have constipation and gas problems when I don't get enough fiber. I am glad to hear from long-term celiacs, it tells me that there is hope and life without wheat!
  12. Celiac cannot be seen by the naked eye. When my endo was done, the gi doc only saw red patches. He took biopsies from those patches, and the lab found celiac under the microscope. I was fortunate, in that I had been gluten-free since Feb, and the endo was done in Sept. There still was damage after all that time. You could very well still be gluten intolerant...
  13. Pseudoephedrin sure will keep you up at night! When I was on it for allergic congestion, I went almost two weeks with little and no sleep. I called the pharmacist and asked him about adverse reactions, since I had just started several new meds, and he told me to stop the pseudoephedrin immediately! It was an adverse reaction, and I can never take it again...
  14. Merry Christmas back at you all! The support we give each other is essential to our well-being. It lets each of us know that we are not alone, and we are not insane! This board also gives us valuable, even life-saving information! I am very thankful for all of you here!
  15. Something that really helps me with my energy levels is to drink a cup of stinging nettle infusion every couple of days. It is easy to digest and is packed with nutrients. I started using it because it eases allergy symptoms, and was pleasantly surprised to get the energy boost, too! I think it is because the nutrients in it are easier for my body to access...
  16. Why go back to them? They obviously don't think they can help you, or they would have tried. The gastro that did my endo gave me a positive diagnosis in Sept, and I have yet to hear from him about it. No follow-ups, nothing. Just "you have celiac, don't eat wheat, barley, rye, or oats." It wasn't even him that I heard it from, it was from the surgeon...
  17. Hi Austin. I am sorry to tell you that, as you now know, your dermatologist was very wrong. There is no such thing as being a little celiac. It is like being a little pregnant. Right now, since you have been gluten-free for two weeks, your body is still detoxing from the years of gluten. Your outbreak is worse, but it will subside. You will have to...
  18. Yes, cows eat grains. Most of the dairy cows in my area are turned out to graze in harvested fields, so it is very possible that they are eating wheat. I am in Kansas, after all, and wheat is a major crop here. However, the cow's digestive system transforms the wheat gluten into something else, so I do not think it is in the milk. I thought I read somewhere...
  19. I filled a prescription at Wal Mart, and asked the pharmacist if it was gluten-free. She checked her cpu, and said it would not show up there as a cross-reference, so I asked her to please read the bottle. She showed me the prescription bottle, and said it does not have the ingredients on it. DUH!!! I wanted her to read the original, manufacturer's bottle...
  20. Mary Kay has cosmetics that are gluten-free, but they also have some that are not. We can use their lipstick, eyeshadow, blush, foundation, and waterproof mascara, but not their colored nail polish. I don't remember about their cleansers, but I think about half of them are safe. You would have to get your consultant to look up the ingredients for you....
  21. Deb, I hope they aren't sorry some day, too. Just about a week ago, my husband told me that if he had to give up all of the foods I have to do without, he would prefer to die. Funny, I gave them up because I want to live, and I want to it to be a wonderful life!
  22. Allergy testing is an excellent idea, however!! Many allergists will not acknowledge an allergy unless the symptom is anaphlyxia. Allergies do cause many symptoms, from anaphylaxia to fatigue to digestive upset to dandruff to migraines, but if it does not cause the first symptom, the doc will not acknowledge it. I have allergies to poultry and stone fruits...
  23. Yes, you have two genes. Both of your parents have at least one gene for celiac. All of your children will have at least one gene for celiac. The rest of your results were normal or low-normal because the disease has not yet kicked into full gear on you. You are having some symptoms, though, so if you continue to consume gluten, you are adding dynomite...
  24. It could be celiac disease. What that would be caused by is the malabsorption of nutrients. Which muscles are hurting? Instead of getting up and walking around, try just stretching the muscles. I have to stretch my leg muscles real good when I go to bed, or I will be awake half the night with leg cramps. Exercise makes them hurt worse, and painkillers...
  25. I don't mind people asking me about what I am eating, and I don't mind giving them a taste and hearing them say "eeww!" What I do mind is when people ask me what do I eat, and how do I get enough food to stay alive. My niece actually asked how I managed to get fat if I can't eat wheat. I tried to explain to her that part of my weight problem is because...
