  1. My favorite pharmacy is small and very busy. I make sure that I am always friendly, and respect their posted break times. Whenever I have a question, I call and leave a message that includes my name, phone number, and exactly what the question is. The pharmacist then has time to look up the answer, and calls me back when he has time. Because I make sure...
  2. Peanut butter is not dairy. Maybe whatever stage of healing your body is at is the real culprit. This could be a temporary sensitivity. I read somewhere that sometimes the roughage irritates the intestines during the healing process, so that could also be it.
  3. How long have you been gluten free? Are you sure you're not getting contamination? Sometimes it takes a long time for damage to heal. If you have had diarrhea constantly for 6 months, then you probably have significant damage. If you are not going to the doctor for bloodwork and biopsy, then stay gluten free for at least 6-8 weeks before trying gluten...

    ARCHIVED Outback

I called back and spoke to Scott, they have the gluten-free menu on the website, but they do not have it printed in the restaurant. They will print one off just for me, if I ask for it when I go there to eat. Thanks for telling me to call back! I feel so special!
  5. Lots of water and tuning out the world. I always get a sore throat with mine, so I use throat lozenges. Waiting it out takes up to a week for me, but it is all I can do. Just lots of rest!
  6. If you have a problem with soy, then peanuts are a no-no. Peanuts and soy beans are related. Try eliminating the peanuts entirely.
  7. It looks like your numbers are very high! For some people, the other food senstivities lessen, but for others they do not. Since my other food problems do not involve my gut, my list will always be limited. It gets easier to deal with.
  8. Maybe it came and went with the food you were eating. Every time there was extra money, and we had bread and pasta alot, I would get sick and have diarhea. Then finances would drop, and we would eat only meat and veggies. I would get better. Until I was diagnosed as gluten intolerant, it never occurred to me, and I'm sure not my parents, just what the...

    ARCHIVED Outback

WWAAAHHH!! I just called the Outback in Joplin, Missouri, and they do NOT have a gluten-free menu! I feel so deprived!
  10. So much for spelling! That is "mashed potatoes" and "the misery was just NOT worth even one taste". One of these days, I might be perfect....NNOTTT!!
  11. I cannot have gluten, eggs, poultry, strawberries, anything from the peach family, and tree nuts. I am so happy to be able to have dairy! Monday: breakfast and lunch: lean beef steak and fries dinner: lean beef steak, mahed potatoes, peas snacks: apple, cheese cubes, potato chips I was at a church function serving snacks, and the only thing I...
  12. From what I understand, if you go gluten-free, and then begin consuming it again for testing, you have a much worse reaction! Your body discovers that it likes not having the gluten, so when you eat it, your body completely rebels. That is why my doctor will not order the blood tests. I have been gluten-free since Feb. 14, and even a little dab makes me...
  13. I get tired of oatmeal. This morning, I ate last nights leftovers. The smoothie you gave us the recipe for sounds delicious!
  14. That's why I made biscuits! I packaged them in threes, and froze them. The only time I ever got bread to work, was when my oven was broken, and I had to manually conrol the temperature. Sorry I can't help you.
  15. I just never thought of it as end stage. I do suppose that it is, when you reach the constant diarhea and weight los and malabsorbtion, since the damage is severe!
  16. I don't understand. You all complain because your doctors do not accept the changes in your health that a gluten-free diet brought about. My doctor did accept it. She only wants a test to prove to other doctors that I cannot have gluten. She chose to start with the least expensive, least invasive, least harmful test for me. Since the end result is the...
  17. End stage of celiac? Hmm. If normal is less than 10, and your reading is 102, then I think you need to be gluten free.
  18. OK, yesterday I blew it. I think my Honeycombs have a cross-contamination issue. I could feel the reaction less than an hour after eating them. I can eat plain oatmeal without a problem, so I know it's not the oats in it. I also just plain ate too much Easter candy! breakfast: 1 bowl Honeycomb cereal, 3/4 c whole milk lunch: grilled beefsteak...
  19. If your Enterolab panel came back positive for everything, then I recommend starting a gluten-free diet immediately. You would not test a strong positive if you were not ill. You also would not have ordered the tests if you were not ill. Try the gluten-free diet for 6 weeks. You have nothing to lose but poor health.
  20. Some have said that rice causes a reaction of some kind. Try eliminationg it for a while. It could also be that you are allergic to a specific fruit or vegetable. At different stages of healing, the human body will react differently, even not tolerate foods that are not really a problem. I would just start with the rice, then the fruits, if it is not...
  21. Travelthomas, So do I. 0 ppm is my goal, and I will eventually find all of the hidden sources.
  22. I'm so glad it turned out well for you! I hope you had fun while you were there!
  23. Can we start a thread that is just weight loss and accountability? One with just tips and menus and weigh-ins? I would want to include tape measure results, because I lose inches before I lose pounds! Maybe even just keep it on this thread, and anyone interested can post to it.
  24. I am thinking of the possibility of a car accident, leaving no one conscious that can tell the doctors NO GLUTEN. If I don't make sure that everyone around me knows, then the results could be devastating (to my body, at least). I want it written in my charts, and on tags, so anyone can see in case I am not able to tell them. Too many medications contain...
  25. Whenever I ate regular bread, I couldn't stop until I ate 4 slices. Dinner rolls disappeared by the 1/2 dozen. I think I read somewhere that there is an addictive element in the gluten. It does not surprise me at all!
