  1. Do you have a new can opener? A while ago someone posted trying to locate where cross contamination could be coming from. The can opener turned out to be the the offending kitchen appliance. The poster had already replace everything else in the kitchen, pots, pans, spoons, and plastic.
  2. You need to make room in your busy life to cook quick and simple meals. I do some traveling in my job but I am not required to eat out. I cook the main meals before I leave. I pack them in individual servings, freeze them and pack them in my check in luggage in a soft sided insulated beverage cooler with blue ice. I also bring along my own salad dressing...

  4. I recently had an ultrasound and a CT scan related to my gallbladder. Both reports included information on the other organs near my gallbladder, including my liver, pancreas and kidneys. I hope the you feel better soon.

  7. You can keep the appointment at Georgetown and make an appointment at Columbia. When the results come in from Georgetown you can decide to cancel or keep the Columbia appointment.
  8. Use a search engine to look for receipes. I put in "Chicken Nuggets Gluten" and came up with lots of sites. I make my own.
  9. Bring all her food you need for the flight with you. As long as the food is NOT liquid there should be no problem getting it through security. Yogurt and any food with similar consistancy is considered a liquid. I buy all my liquid after I go through security. Water, soda and juice are available. Milk can be bought at McDonalds if one is in the airport...
  10. Below is some information I found on the web about Basic Food Groups that should give you some overall guidence. Of course, all the grains need to be gluten free. Open Original Shared Link
  11. Reading labels will become second nature over time and will not be a time consuming process. Many companies have their labels on their website. You could do some basic research from home before you go to the grocery store. You still need to read the label when you get to the store since the website may have the current ingredients but the store shelf may...
  12. Yes, the Pfzer version is Azythromyacin. That's what made me sick.
  13. I got sick when I had a generic Z-Pack over the Christmas Holidays. It was the Pfizer (sp) generic brand. The company told me it contained no gluten ingredients but could not guarentee it was gluten free. My body told me the medicine had gluten in it. What brand were you given?
  14. Thanks for the birthday wishes
  15. Check with your local school district to see if they have any homeschooling support. The school district I live in has homeschooling support. I did not homeschool so I can not provide anymore information.

  17. I wish I knew which side of the family it came from. I am the only one who has Celiac. My mother's family originates from England so that is most likely where the Celiac came from.
  18. "Normal" is a matter of perspective. After 29 years eating gluten free is normal. There were very few substitutions for gluten products 29 year ago. The ones that were available were not worth eating. I did not try to recreate gluten meals. I ended up creating meals that were not in the "Standard American Diet". Today, there are many receipes on...
  19. In and Out french fries are gluten free but are only available if you live in California, Nevada or Arizona. I am not sure what kind of oil they use.
  20. All Enjoy Life products are gluten free, dairy free and soy free. I like the cookies with the exception of the "No Oats oatmeal cookies and the snack bars. They also make a cinnamon granola type cereal. You add nuts to it to make a trail mix.
  21. I was diagnosed at 20 in my junior year of college. My symptoms did not appear until I was 19. I was so happy not to be sick anymore. I had very little trouble adjusting. Staying gluten free was what I needed to do to stay heathy. I was lucky that I already lived in housing with a kitchen. I agree with Jessica (angel_jd1), it would have been much harder...
  22. Eating gluten free will become normal for you overtime. It will get easier.
  23. You are correct the cooking class should not be skipped if the student is interested in the class. I only took one cooking class and that was in junior high school because I had to. The boys went to shop and the girls had cooking. I would have rather been in the shop class.
  24. If the cooking class is optional I would suggest skipping it altogther. If the baking project is required you might suggest she be allowed to bake gluten free bread at home.
