  1. I am not sure this is a "new idea" but below is what I usually serve for Christmas dinner: Ham (if it has a glaze make sure it is gluten free) Homemade Mashed Potatoes (no gravy) Salad - lettece and raw vegetables Gluten Free Muffins - sometimes regular, sometimes corn Individual Pumpkin Tarts - Pumpkin pie receipe with no crust. Cool Whip optional...
  2. Microwave Mexican Pizza - layer shredded cheese, pepperoni and pizza sauce (I use Enrico's) between corn tortillas and microwave until the cheese is melted. Stove top cheese and rice casserole - Cook rice with salt, pepper and garlic powder. When rice is done add cheese (I use 2/3 chedder and 1/3 monterey jack), and hamburger browned with salt, pepper...
  3. There is no reason to skip the party just because of the food. Either eat before you go or bring your own meal along. I go to enjoy the company. I am attending my company party to enjoy everyone's company. I plan to bring my own meal.
  4. I call this my annual squishing. The machine compresses your breast. When I have mine done there are usually a total of four compressions. Each breast is compressed in two different positons. It is not comfortable but the compression does not last very long.
  5. For me the diet is worth it to stay healthy and feel good. After a period of time eating gluten free will become second nature. You will put coping strategies in place to suit your life. Below are some of the ones I use: 1) Toss away the concept of a standard meal. It's ok to have rice and eggs for dinner and a baked potato for breakfast. 2) Create...
  6. Below is a list of ingredients I keep on hand for snacks and main meals. Canned Pinto Beans Canned Refried Beans Canned Tomato Sauce Canned Baked Beans Pizza Sauce (Enrico
  7. Lisa, You need to go to the doctor to have this checked out. If there is a problem with your gallbladder or liver it needs to be identified and treated as soon as possible. I hope you feel better soon.
  8. I don't know about AGH in particular. When I had my gallbladder out I checked with the hospital (not AHG) to find out my options. They told me they could accomodate my diet but I could also bring in my own food. I opted to bring my own food. I kept non-parishable items in my room and the rest was in the refrigerator on the hospital floor I was staying...
  9. Call the airline and request a gluten free meal. This request should be made as far in advance as possible. I have brought the following in my carry on luggage an airplane: Cold pre-cooked chicken - any cooked meat that can be eaten cold will work Vegetables that can be eaten - raw carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, slice tomatoes, etc
  10. In addition to practical advice tell her to keep an open mind about what can be served at each meal and food combinations. Breakfast can be served and dinner and vice versa. I have eaten scrambled eggs and rice for dinner and mashed potatoes for breakfast. Food combinations that are different from the standard diet are ok. I make a quick pizza by...
  11. I have know idea if the following will actually pay but I'll toss them out anyway: Contact stores that sell gluten free foods and offer to give a class (for pay). I know Whole Foods sometimes has classes but I don't know where they get the teachers. Contact places that give cooking classes and see if you can teach a class. I have seen these classes...
  12. I think that a gluten free diet opens the doors to trying food combinations that most people would think are strange. I like spaghetti sauce with meat over mashed potatoes and French Fries dipped in guacamole.
  13. I make my own. They taste a lot better thank the instant. I have used Russet Red, and Yukon yellow pototoes.
  14. I hope the disablity office returns to work soon. My experience with disabiltiy office, for my son, has been very good. One of the services offered, if qualified, through my son's college is note taking. Someone will come to class take notes, type them up and give them to the student. Also, I think with support of the disability office it might be...
  15. Maybe a mask like the one below would help with the drywall. Open Original Shared Link Edit: Also, talk to the school administration about alternative access. There maybe a way into the building that do not have public access. If available, you might want to look into signing up with the college disability office. My son has done this. He had to...
  16. I make my own pizza. I use Nature's Hilights Brown Rice Pizza Crust. I find it in the frozen food section at WholeFoods. I use Enrico's Pizza Sauce (labled gluten free), Boars Head Pepperoni (labled gluten free) and cheese. For really, really quick pizza I use corn tortilla as a pizza crust. Layer the above ingredients bewteen corn tortilla and microwave...
  17. Since I usually only feed 4 people I skip the stuffing.
  18. Me too. I freeze pancakes in Ziplock sandwich bags for individual servings(usually 2 to a bag). I put them in the refrigerator to thaw. I usually have one or two bags of thawed pancakes in the refrigerator.
  19. You might consider looking for a part time job with hours so that your husband or other family member can take care or the children. My Sister-in-law did this when her daughter was young. She worked weekends and her husband worked weekdays.
  20. I had my gallbladder removed in August. I don't know if my Celiac had any effect on my gallbladder since the first symptoms of gallbladder probems started 22 years after I was diagnosed with Celiac.
  21. Lonewolf, thank you for your reply. I think I will follow your suggestion and start small. I will look at WholeFoods this weekend and look for a gluten free product that has no risk of cross contimination and a very small amount of soy lethicin.
  22. Happy Birthday!!!!!
  23. Congratulations. Every Nature Made brand vitamin I have checked says "No Gluten" in addition to a number of other things. This might be a brand to check out. As usual, check the ingredients on the particular viatmin you want to use.
  24. Thank you Offgrid. I will look into starting with a small amount of soy milk.
  25. I have been soy free for about 6 months. I would like to reintroduce soy to determine if I am soy intolerent. What foods should I choose and how is the best way to do this?
