  1. Sending hugs. Once you move in on your own there should be less stress. Hopefully, less stress will improve your health.
  2. If you have Celiac you will never ever be able to tolerate gluten. A Celiac's tolerance to dairy depends on each person. I tolerate dairy without any trouble. Some people have to temporarily take the dairy out of their diet when they go gluten free but are able to add it later as the intestines heal. Others have lactose or casien intolerances restricting...
  3. I sat next to two people who sell "Mon Avie" on the plane home last week. I asked them about the product. They made no specific claims about celiac. The card they gave me basically said their product would increase nutrition, antioxidant activity, boost the immune system, combat aging and improve overall well being. Below is website referenced on the...
  4. This has also been my experience, mainly on domestic flights. I only bring through security what the regulations allow. I also pack my food in a backpack. Below is the TSA website with the carryon regulations: Open Original Shared Link If you have any questions you can call the airport and ask to speak with a security supervisor to verify what you...
  5. I agree, my husband and son have not felt deprived because we don't and have not had products such as Ding Dongs, Twinkees, cake, cupcakes or crackers in the house.
  6. No, you can never eat gluten again. This is a life long way of eating.
  7. I agree with Mango04, take plenty or your own food and order a gluten free meal. I always take at least 1 1/2 times what I think for the plane ride. If I am am also taking food to eat during the trip I take as much as I can on the plane in my carry on luggage. You can not take any liquids or gel like substances (i.e. yogurt, cottage cheese ect...)...
  8. It is always best to live in a gluten free household. I live in a gluten limited household, basically bread and cereal are the only gluten items. I do the most of the grocery shopping and cooking so I have a lot of control of what comes into the house. If I make the meal it is gluten free. The gluten products are kept outside of the kitchen is what...
  9. In my opinon the key to sucessful Celiac travel is to limit the reliance on others to cook for you. It also, takes extra effort and planning to travel gluten free. If I am traveling by car I always bring a cooler full of food cooking tools. Replenish the ice once a day. A cooler can be purchased at a sporting goods store this time of year. I also rent...
  10. Congratulations on your new grandson.
  11. Happy Birthday!!!!!
  12. As long as you do not bring any liquids or gel like substances (i.e. yogurt, cottage cheese ect...) you should be fine. You can by water, juice and/or soda on the other side of security. Have a super trip.
  13. Lisa, My Gallbladder was removed in Aug 07. My ultrasound was inconclusive and the CAT scan showed slug indicating a possible problem with stones. My bloodwork however showed elevated levels in my liver and pancreous which was do to the stones. I was diagnosed primarily on the symptoms during a gallbladder attack and the blood test results. ARCHIVED Costco

Their are many items at Costco that are gluten free. Many of the Kirkland branded items are just larger versions of a brand that can be found in the grocery store. Examples are: Kirkland corn tortillas - Marked gluten free and made by Mission (marked gluten free on the bag) Kirkland Chicken Toquitos - Made by El Montery. I saw this on a gluten free...
  15. I have a gluten limited household, basically only bread and cereal. All this is kept outside the kitchen in a "Sandwich making station". This contains a refrigerator, a large kitchen cart with cabinets, and a microwave. This solution may or may not work for you. The less gluten in the house and/or where you prepare your food the better.
  16. Leftovers are my standard lunch. I cook extra on the weekends are reheat meals in the microwave at work. If you have a Whole Foods near you the customer service desk can give you a print out of the gluten free foods available the store. This list will include some quick frozen meals.
  17. I only by viatmins that are labeled gluten free. No fuss, no muss, no risk.
  18. I follow Ursa Major's strategy for buying food. I only use pure maple syrup. The less ingredients and processing in a product is better. Very few of the products in my cupboards or refrigerator, that are not labeled gluten-free, have more than four ingredients and all the ingredients are easily indentfiable as gluten free. Hope everyone gets well soon...
  19. Look into the possibility that a baker or someone who is simply good at decorating cakes might be willing to come to your home to decorate the cake.
  20. If I cheat, I get sick. I don't like getting sick, therefore I don't cheat.
  21. I set out on a three month backpacking trip across Europe 3 months into a gluten free diet. I stopped at the grocery store nearly everyday and bought a days worth of food. In Europe most of the grocery stores are in the basements of the department stores. I ate a lot of yogurt, cheese, fruit, vegtables, juice and chocolate. Also, many of the major train...
  22. Lisa, no advice just Hugs.
  23. You can make your own individual servings. Put the tamari sauce or gluten free salad dressings in 2oz leak proof containers. Tupperware has them and the Container Store has them. I packed both in my checked luggage and not had a leak.
  24. Bravie, The mini kitchen can start out very small and grow as you have the money. In the house or from a friend you could find an old shelving unit (free) like a bookcase to at least store your food and even your kitchen tools. That way at least your non-perishable food is out of the kitchen. If you put the word out to family and friends that you...
  25. I agree with JNbunnie1 the most probable problem is the shampoo. A beauty supply store or salon maybe able to help you find a shampoo suitable for your hair. You will then need make sure it is gluten free. My cats are happy to eating gluten free cat food. In my opinion you should change the cat food. If you have a bedroom of your own you might consider...
