  1. Those things were all problems for my daughter. You might try eliminating all top 8 allergens for about a month, then trying them again, one by one, slowly. Keep a food diary.
  2. My daughter used to do that. She also had chronic infections of the ears, throat and sinuses. And skin rashes. Sadly we did not find out about the intolerances until she was 6. But that was not for the lack of trying on my part.
  3. What kind of allergies are these? IgE? IgG? What kind of test was done? What kind of Dr. did this test?
  4. Similar but different here. Daughter has multiple food intolerances. Used to be wheat/gluten but no longer. She does have others. We are careful with her diet. Also has known pre-diabetes and a thyroid problem. But... She is sick all the time! Often stomach problems but she also seems to catch everything that goes around. They have done all sorts...
  5. I am confused. Is your concern that the natural flavorings might contain something that is not vegetarian or vegan? Because I think there is fish in all Worchesterchire sauce. As for the natural or even artificial flavorings, those are not a concern to me unless they contain one of my food intolerances. Some people do avoid artificial ones and they...
  6. Sorry to hear of your problems. I am no expert on this but there is natural sugar in lots of foods. In fact about the only ones that don't have it would be some dairy products, eggs, nuts, seeds, oils and meats. Fruit is very high in sugar with the ones being the least high, berries the more tart citrus ones. Dried fruits such as dates are very high in...
  7. I have had to avoid any cheese from any animal source. All make me equally sick. Not an allergy but an intolerance. I get big D.
  8. Techically anything could contain gluten if it is made on shared lines. You not only have to read the ingredients but look for that statement as well. I have heard the statement about cheese but have never actually seen any with wheat in it. Nuts from Costco, Trader Joes and also Walmart can be made on shared lines. Always read every part of the...
  9. Agreed. She had a full blown IgE reaction.
  10. Actually they can but what she had was not an intolerance. Intolorances can make you ill. You can be sick to your stomach. You can have sinus and ear infections. You can have skin rashes. But you will not have a reaction like that. That's an IgE reaction and that's the only thing they will prescribe the Epi Pen for. They won't do it for IgG allergies...
  11. Sorry to hear that you need a referral. That's probably more likely an issue with your insurance. Some are like that. My husband wanted us to get a plan that require it but I refused. He thinks we are paying more for our plan but I think in the end we pay less. At any rate, for most things we do not need a referral. And that's a good thing because we...
  12. Buy gluten-free pasta. Tinkyada is very good! Just be sure not to overcook it and if you use a plastic strainer, you'll need to buy a new one. My Italian husband never noticed that I had changed the pasta.
  13. Sorry to hear of your problems. You might want to try a probiotic but I think Culturelle has dairy in it. I could be wrong on that. We get ours online at Swanson. Free of all of the top 8 allergens. Daughter has to take it because she is missing her appendix. Although I can't say that it will help you, it sure couldn't hurt. I can relate on the...
  14. When my daughter was diagnosed, we went totally gluten-free. My husband only tolerated this for a while and then he wanted regular pizza and sandwiches. My solution for this was to buy a little fridge for my daughter's gluten-free foods. Anything that did not need to be refrigerated was put on our card table. Not the best solution but it cost so much...
  15. I have a problem with toothpaste but it's likely not your problem. My problem? Mint! I thought I needed a paste for sensetive teeth and thankfully someone here located one online that is free of all flavorings. I have no problems with it except that it is a bit weird with no flavor. I also can not have clove and that is in a lot of mouth products. I...
  16. An allergy test will only confirm or rule out a true IgE allergy. And it doesn't sound like that is what you have. My daughter had a gluten intolerance. For her the symptoms were stomach pain, skin rashes and an inability to pay attention. She also had very thin hair. It grew in much thicker after she changed her diet. But... She was/is intolerant...
  17. Gluten isn't my issue, but I have multiple food intolerances. When I changed my diet, I immediately dropped 10 pounds and multiple health problems cleared up. You may have celiac or you may have a gluten or wheat intolerance. You may also have gastroparesis. That's delayed stomach emptying. And it can make you feel full when you haven't eaten. You may...
  18. In the case of the poutine, I'd be willing to bet that the fries were done in a shared fryer. Or that whoever grabbed up the cheese had gluten on their hands. But you might be right. The gravy might not have been gluten-free. For that matter, your plate could even have been glutened. But we learned the hard way that even though the offer a gluten...
  19. I eat both from time to time. Mainly eat chia for the protein. I seem to be able to tolerate them for about 2 weeks and then I'll wind up getting big D. But... I tend to get that anyway even if I don't eat them. So I dunno. Maybe I should just have one or the other.
  20. Easter dinner will be: Baked beans and tossed salad. Daughter will also have a sweet potato and some chicken
  21. I don't know but daughter couldn't eat Glenny's. Always made her sick. But it could have been peanuts that was the problem. IIRC, they were a "may contain" for peanuts.
  22. My daughter was 6 when she went gluten-free. She must be the odd one out because Ener-G was the *only* bread that she liked. Granted she also had to do without dairy, eggs and nuts so that really limited what she ate. There is a zucchini bread recipe in the recipe section of this website. Not the forum, but the website. Excellent. It's one of the...
  23. Again this is an old post but I'd say in your case it would likely be msg. Just a guess though.
  24. I used mine mainly when I was on a raw vegan diet. I got the Nesco but I needed to buy tons of extra trays and fruit leather sheets. But I bought too many. Would work in the garage but in the house wouldn't fit under my cupboards. I dried mushrooms, made nut cheese and onion bread. I tried it for other things but mainly didn't like the end results.
  25. I am no expert but this does sound like an allergy. You could have issues with gluten that are not celiac. Daughter was intolerant to it.
