  1. A while back I bought some gluten-free pancake mix that used orange juice as the liquid. The pancakes were the best we've tried so far but I failed to take note of the brand. Does anyone know which one it might be? I likely mail ordered it. I've looked in the stores but can't seem to find it.

    ARCHIVED Soy

Enjoy Life Foods makes a soy and dairy free chocolate in the form of chips. These are easy enough to make into bars and other shapes if you have a mold. You can microwave them at 50% power, stirring every 30 seconds or so just until they start to look shiny. You can also do this over the stove over hot (not boiling) water. The trick is to just get the...
  3. I used to have this. Then I found out I was allergic to eggs (severe), dairy and almonds. Gave those up and I rarely ever have a problem now. And when I do it is much less than it used to be. I was also diagnosed with GERD and possibly delayed stomach emptying due to diabetes. Guess I'll never know for sure since the test requires eating eggs.
  4. The damage to your body might not be the same as what happens to someone with celiac, but then like someone else said, you might not know if you have celiac or not. I think reactions vary from person to person. For my daughter it's skin rashes, nosebleeds, upset stomach, headache, sleepiness, etc. It can really vary depending on what she ate and how...
  5. Floam doesn't work anyway. Daughter got some and it wouldn't stick to anything. At least it wasn't messy but it was a big waste of money.
  6. I think it depends on the brand. My daughter doesn't have celiac but has a wheat and gluten allergy. At this site, it says these things are safe: Open Original Shared Link "Sweets Sugar; honey; maple syrup, non-buttered syrup; molasses; most jellies and jams; plain hard candy; marshmallows; gumdrops; and homemade or commercial candies made with...
  7. My friend's mom used to make this for her birthday every year. If you have additional food issues, you can sub in coconut oil for the butter and any other candy or nuts you like. I've used gumdrops and dairy/soy free chocolate chips.
  8. For those who have additional food issues, the Enjoy Life brand of chocolate chips are also free of soy and dairy. They taste great. I've never met a kid who didn't like them. I'm making some Christmas chocolates with them now.
  9. Due to a dairy allergy, we can't do cream soups. However I have come up with a suitable substitute that I have used for casseroles so it would probably work for roast as well. I don't really measure stuff. I just keep adding and tasting until it seems right. I start with a few handfuls of dried mushrooms that have been reconstituted in hot water....
  10. I've used Betty Hagman's blend or Authentic Foods. No problems with either one.
  11. It is packaged in really thick plastic with air in the package. It does keep for a long time so long as it is not opened. Once opened, it spoils very quickly.
  12. I have tried and tried to make gluten-free bread and it just doesn't seem to stay raised up like regular bread does. Perhaps the gluten helps with this? A few times I've gotten a loaf that seemed to raise up nicely as it baked, only to have it fall flat upon cooling and often it is too moist and dense inside.
  13. Ener-G makes some of their gluten-free breads packaged two slices per bag. They are pretty expensive, but they do keep for a long time. I plan to take these along with us if we ever make another cross country move. I think one reason why you don't see sandwiches made up ahead of time is that most of the gluten-free bread I've tried needs to be toasted...
  14. I use Authentic Foods vanilla powder. No corn or gluten.
  15. Pacific brand is gluten-free.
  16. These are great! I've made apple crisp with them, adding brown sugar, gluten-free four flour blend and coconut oil (we have additional food allergies). Also made the meatloaf. I used ground flax and water instead of egg. Made a double batch. Added a can of tomato juice and a small jar of homemade chili sauce for flavor. Chopped up a couple of onions...
  17. I don't have any in the new package. That reminds me though. Need to order more. I think mine is rather old. It has always had an overly sweet taste to me though. I don't like to use it in anything other than sweet foods. Tried making a mushroom sauce with it once and ! Daughter likes the chocolate either frozen into pops or heated and topped with...
  18. I'd be more concerned about the candy than the popcorn if I were you. I can think of plenty of candy with gluten in it. I've asked at the theaters around here and they all use just popcorn, coconut oil and salt. We don't get the "butter" topping because it likely contains some form of dairy and/or soy and daughter is allergic to both.
  19. McDonald's fries contain wheat and milk. They are not safe. Open Original Shared Link
  20. My daughter loves that pasta, especially in soup. But if you want something already made up that tastes just like Spaghetti-Os, try the Organ in the little cans. It is delish! Although a bit expensive. I buy it a case at a time to get the case discount. I like to keep it onhand for when I have no leftovers to send in her lunch at school or if she is...
