  1. My daughter likes Ener-G Rice Starch or Corn Loaf. I've not seen those in any stores. I order from them. She needs something that is egg and dairy free so that limits what she can eat. If we have to buy something in the grocery store, we will get something else from Ener-G. Either the Rice, Tapioca or Seattle Brown. Whatever they have. But those are...
  2. She was my favorite! Too bad her show is on at a bad time for us to watch. Hopefully they will air the repeats at another time.
  3. We get those little single serve hummus cups from Costco. Daughter eats one of those with some baby carrots and apple slices. She might also take a single serve pack of pepperoni, some salami, Fritos, and Enjoy Life cookies.
  4. My daughter threw up after I fed her and she cried all the time. This seemed to ease off after I started her on solid food. Not sure why. Her allergies were not diagnosed until she was 6. At the time she was allergic to milk and soy among other things. Things have changed since. I tried to breast feed her and I did until she was 10 months old. But...
  5. Interesting! I know of one adult with ADHD who would go after that speeding car to try to teach the driver a lesson. He can't seem to think things through to come to the decision to do the right thing.
  6. Thanks! I will try that.
  7. Are Mentos safe? They contain glucose syrup made of wheat. Daughter has a wheat allergy so they do affect her. Just not sure about the gluten.
  8. The biggest issue would be cross contamination. If they are cooking the meat on a grill alongside something like pancakes, you could have a problem. It's probably best to tell them that you have celiac or an allergy and need it cooked in a clean pan.
  9. I would go by the label on the bottle and not what it says on the website. Websites can contain old information.
  10. I'd try this site here. Not sure if they carry that product or not.
  11. I don't have gluten issues. I went gluten-free when daughter did only because I didn't want her to feel bad. Eventually I added some bread (not a lot) and wheat cereal back into my diet. I didn't get sick at all.
  12. Maltodextrin is made of corn. No gluten in it.
  13. That would work, but we need something dairy free.
  14. I was just annoyed at the cost of it all! Some years ago, we went through something similar. Because she has outgrown dairy and egg allergies, she can only have these things twice a week. That pretty much limits the breads she can eat. I tried making them on my own. Mostly they didn't work. I got one perfect loaf from a mix. But the next two...
  15. I don't allow her to have soy. She outgrew a soy allergy so technically can have it twice a week. I know she is getting it in the form of soybean oil in some restaurants and she does eat some things with soy lecithin. But I won't allow any whole soybeans, soy milk or soy protein. The reason? I used to eat a lot of soy and developed a thyroid problem...
  16. That is funny! And I think I would have had only the rice as well. I don't have gluten issues but I am allergic to oysters. One thing I've found that is usually a safe bet for a snack when we are out is a side of steamed rice from one of the many Teriyaki places around here. We're in the Seattle area and it's a toss up whether there are more coffee...
  17. AFAIK, all Werthers use a wheat based glucose syrup. I can't say if it is gluten-free or not. Daughter has a wheat allergy so no good for her.
  18. I am not really looking for gluten-free pizza. I was just surprised after putting in our allergens that a list of pizza places came up. Only to find out that none of them were gluten-free. I do know where I can get gluten-free pizza around here.
  19. Enchilada casserole. You'll need corn tortillas and some cooked meat. You can also add canned beans to this. I usually use ground beef but you can use any type of cooked meat cut to bite sized pieces. You can use cheese instead or add cheese to the meat. You'll also need a sauce. If you can't find canned or jarred gluten-free enchilada sauce, you can...
  20. We do a shepard's or cottage pie type of casserole. Cooked ground beef or chicken cut in bite sized pieces, mixed with gravy and cut up vegetables. Peas are traditional in this but daughter is allergic. I usually use celery, carrots, onions, green beans and corn. Raw veggies should be sauteed until soft. Put all of this in a casserole then cover with...
  21. The other day on one of the newsgroups I frequent, a woman who always acts like she is an expert on everything said that celiac can go away. I asked her for a cite. As I thought, she posted no cite. I don't think there is one. But I too get sick of the comments about "What *can* you eat?" Or, "I could never follow that diet!" I can remember getting...
  22. I was told by a celiac health food owner that sprouted wheat was okay. Why? It was sprouted so it was now something else. This was when my daughter was first diagnosed. I bought something with sprouted wheat. Can't remember now if it was tortillas or bread. Soon after eating the stuff, daughter got sick. The Dr. who diagnosed her actually told...
  23. I tried it. Tons of places came up. I was amazed at how many pizza places! Only to find out that they had nothing gluten free. Most of the restaurants listed were just listings. Nothing about allergies at all.
  24. Wild rice is a grain, but is not really rice. But I think the others would all be considered rice, so the same.
  25. Right now she is totally out of control! My plans for today changed. I was supposed to get a hair cut but the stylist had to leave town suddenly for a family emergency. So I told my daughter that instead, we would go to Nordstoms to get her feet measured. I don't think they have grown, but I want to make sure. I offered to get her a new pair of shoes...
