ARCHIVED Oceanspray And Fruits In General
Juliebove replied to fakename's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My health food store sells chopped dates coated in oats, I don't know the brand. Much of what the sell is bought in bulk and repackaged. I think this is very common for chopped dates though. -
ARCHIVED Odds And How To Figure This Out.
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well it seemed to work for me when I tried it (every 7th) but as I said, I am not good with math. I will do every 5th then. The other thing I thought of (but don't really want to do it this way) is to put some of the gift cards (enough for if they all show up) right in the center. Of course it would not be a round shape. The other concern that I just... -
I am not familiar with that litter. I currently use the stuff that Costco sells in the green jug. It's the clumping kind. Maui made a huge mess with the silica kind. The first one I tried was in little balls. Kind to the feet but it rolled all over the place when she kicked it. Then I tried the kind that was very sharp. Must have killed her little...

ARCHIVED Eye Doctor Says It's Not Night Blindness
Juliebove replied to brendygirl's topic in Doctors
I have light colored eyes. Green, the color of split pea soup. I don't have eye pain on a regular basis, although at times I get blepharitis and that can cause pain. I do have something like night blindness. One eye Dr. said my eyes do not adjust to the light nearly as quickly as normal eyes would. For me the worst situation is going from bright light... -
ARCHIVED It's Easier To Just Not Eat
Juliebove replied to realmaverick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You might try going to an Endocrinologist. You could have hypoglycemia, diabetes or a thyroid problem. A thyroid problem can also affect your blood sugar. I was hyperthyroid for a while and I had a hard time getting my blood sugar up to normal range. As for the diet, I have never tried an elimination diet. I do have several food allergies that were... -
ARCHIVED Pizza Cooked In Oven Where Other Normal Pizzas Are Cooked
Juliebove replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yep. I would say so. -
ARCHIVED Recipes For Multiple Food Sensitivities
Juliebove replied to Staceyshoe's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My daughter used to have pretty much those same allergies but outgrew a few of them. I gave up on making bread with the exception of the zucchini bread that is listed here on this website. I subbed in coconut oil, ground flax and water for the eggs, and omitted the nuts. It is the only bread that ever came out right every time. I usually made it as muffins... -
ARCHIVED Odds And How To Figure This Out.
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The point is, I don't want to do that. There is no element of surprise that way. Also it would be next to impossible to do that and keep the shape. Yes at some points it won't exactly look like a ball. But you can't put several flat, stiff things one after the other. They just won't stay wrapped up. But every so often you can work one in. -
ARCHIVED Odds And How To Figure This Out.
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Then I would have to come up with two big prizes. And it would make it even more confusing to figure the odds. I sat down with a piece of paper and tried to work it out. I think it will work to do every 7th thing as one of the gift cards. -
ARCHIVED Does It Have To Be Completely Gluten Free
Juliebove replied to Anya's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes, it has to be completely gluten-free. -
I don't know about the other food at Olive Garden, but the pasta comes frozen. The worst problem we've had is croutons on the salad after we said we didn't want them. Once they brought a salad with just one crouton. It probably fell in there. But they acted all snooty when we said we couldn't just pick it out. We dine at a few select places. Olive...

ARCHIVED Popcorn Got Me Bad!
Juliebove replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I learned the hard way that I have to read every label, every time. But just a thought... Stomach flu has been going around here in WA. Daughter had it and then I did. Could be you have that and not really a gluten problem. -
I have not tried those but I have severe problems with sugar alcohols. So I don't eat things containing them. Have you tried Lara Bars? I can't have those because of the almonds they contain. Okay they might not all have almonds but the risk of cross contamination is there so I haven't tried them. They would have protein though. Bumblebars would also...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Goodies For Church Bazaar
Juliebove replied to Greta's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I don't have an answer for you on the pie crusts, but I think a lot of people might be wary to buy something that is home baked that is purported to be gluten free. They might fear it is cross contaminated. -
ARCHIVED Looking For Gluten-Free Finger Food Ideas (For Baby)
Juliebove replied to slee's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
One of my daughter's favorite first finger foods was green beans straight from the can. Once she learned to talk, if I made a meal without them, she would give me a dirty look and say, "Hey! Where's my BEANS!?" -
ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum Excerpt From Wikipedia
Juliebove replied to Trymester's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well for starters I don't necessarily believe what is posted to Wikipedia. Unless things have changed, anyone can post there. I have seen other things there that I know are wrong. I can't remember what exactly it was now. But I know I have. I also didn't know about the laxative thing, but... It could explain the problems I've been having. Hmmm..... -
One of my daughter's dance teacher's has a boyfriend that just inherited a Benihana's restaurant. Because they intend to get married, she (the teacher) has been learning the business and intends to host some functions there which my daughter might want to attend. I did an online search and saw one place where a person said they got them to cook their...

ARCHIVED Odds And How To Figure This Out.
Juliebove posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Some years ago out of boredom, I decided to make a surprise ball for Christmas. Mostly I collected little items from all around the house that I didn't need or want. Like those things they give you at home parties like Tupperware. I was living in military housing at the time so went to a lot of parties! I also included some small candies and items from... -
ARCHIVED What's The Bread That's Inedible But Makes Good Stuffing?
Juliebove replied to luvs2eat's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Daughter loves the corn loaf toasted and with butter, faux butter and maybe cinnamon and sugar. She loves the Rice Starch bread for sandwiches and also for toast. She will eat the tapioca if that's all we can get. It is readily available at most stores here. -
I'm not in Chicago but we had IgG testing done at a Naturopath. Not all Naturopaths belive in that though. So you have to ask first.

ARCHIVED Isn't It Supposed To Be Fall?
Juliebove replied to Rowena's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
It's a tad chilly today but it was warm for the past few days. A few years ago we had freezing weather on Halloween. It had been warm the year before and the year before that. So I came up with the bright idea of decorating the garage. I couldn't use all of it because we use it for storage. I say garage because it has a garage door on it. But the... -

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Like Being Celiac
Juliebove replied to runningcrazy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't have celiac but I do have diabetes and other food allergies. You mentioned cake. I have always hated cake! So much so that I used to ask for no cake to be served at my birthday. Frankly I would be far happier if there were no sweets served at my birthday. I have never been a big sweets eater. But my mom always insists on having something.... -
ARCHIVED Snyders gluten-free Pretzels
Juliebove replied to Jestgar's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I ordered a case straight from them. I was worried at having to order so many. I have ordered the Utz chips in the past and they always expired before we could eat them. My case arrived today. They are good until April but I don't think they will last that long. I have some regular Snyder's pretzels. The gluten-free ones are slightly shorter than...
