  1. Yeah. I screwed up on the tuna too. I got the kind in broth not realizing that there were peas in the broth. As well as soy. She is no longer allergic to soy. But she is allergic to peas. Now we get canned tuna at Costco. The kind in water. It's just water.
  2. My daughter was one ounce less than average weight at birth. She rapidly lost weight because of jaundice and because I was breast feeding her and not producing enough milk. We tried formula but that made her sick from one end or the other. We did not know at the time that she was allergic to milk and soy among other things. She only put on weight after...
  3. Daughter bought her dinner last night at the grocery store. She had dance classes all night be had a break for dinner. Most of the other kids buy their food and she want to too. Last night I talked her into taking a package of chicken salad and crackers. She gave away the crackers. That way I know she had protein. She bought some mandarin oranges and...
  4. There was a place here that did that. The owner was really pretty weird and had a habit of lying. She sold us something that made my daughter very ill. Only later when I went back did I discover that it contained eggs. She told me it did not. Daughter was allergic to eggs at the time. They also made mistakes all the time. Like putting eggs on the chicken...
  5. I actually prefer the smaller places and I find I am more likely to get a safe meal there. Yes some of the chains do a gluten-free menu. I mostly do not eat there because while that food might be gluten-free, it is not necessarily safe for me given my other food alleriges. And in general I do not like the food from chain places. It seems to come frozen...
  6. I didn't cook. I had some pre-cooked steak pieces that I got from Costco. Was going to have that but they seemed tough to digest. So I didn't. Daughter tried them and hated them. I had her put the rest of the bag in the freezer. Hopefully husband will eat them. I just had some cottage cheese. We also had mashed potatoes (bought at Costco) and some...
  7. I have long known this. I think if you had to eat there, the only safe things are the beans and rice. Golden Corral also uses wheat in their taco meat.
  8. Disappointing meal tonight. Hormel's canned tamales topped with white onion, green pepper, a can of tiny diced tomatoes and a bit of chili powder. Baked through then topped with Mexican cheese and black olives. Oh it tasted just fine! The problem was that the tamales just seemed to have disappeared. Daughter said she had mainly vegetables. And I had...
  9. Gluten is not a problem for me. I have had psoriasis but currently free of it. What helps me is using just water in the shower or a moisturizing bath product (Dove shower wash) if needed. I also take Turmeric.
  10. We eat a lot of popcorn. I buy it at my health food store and pop it in a pan. Potatoes and rice are other foods we eat a lot of.
  11. I found them! They were at Albertsons and they were on sale. Since they don't expire till March, I bought three packs. I almost didn't see them. Someone had stuck a package of low carb tortillas on top of the stack. But I saw the words "gluten free" sticking out. I know they were not there when I looked before because that spot was empty. They...
  12. Thanks! No. We don't have them.
  13. Ohhh... That could be. I will check again. Thanks!
  14. Thanks! That will be good to know if I ever go back to PA.
  15. I know I could get them online but I don't want to go that route. Calling them probably won't help. They would know who carries their products but not which ones.
  16. I bought a package of these and daughter loves them. The problem? I can't remember where I bought them! I looked at Safeway and Albertsons. Both carry that brand but not that item. Either that or I looked in the wrong place. I can't even remember which section they were located in but I think it was with the tortillas. Central Market does not...
  17. Yes! I just gel them and eat them like that.
  18. I don't use Worchestershire sauce in mine. I only use salt, pepper and parsley. I do add onion. I guess that would be a seasoning. I do use a little sweet rice flour to thicken the gravy.
  19. No, I don't find it is hard to believe at all. I do not have celiac. I do have food allergies. And I know that the way I react isn't necessarily the same as someone else would react. Daughter is allergic to wheat. I do find that people who do not have issues with food usually do not understand and they seem to think that a little bit won't/can't hurt...
  20. Slices of polenta from a tube, covered in tomato sauce and maybe with some cheese on top. If no cheese then pumpkin seeds or some nuts on the side for protein. Canned chicken with rice or pasta. Pasta with red sauce, maybe with some cooked ground beef that I keep in the freezer. Frozen cooked hamburger patty with some kind of starch. Maybe frozen...
  21. I don't have a cite or anything. But in reading recent women's magazines, they often recommend a gluten free diet for everyone these days.
  22. I think you can fold them in half like a taco but not roll them.
  23. I felt comfortable right away but only because I was blissfully unaware of things like cross contamination. I remember getting a hamburger patty to go at a drive in near here. Got it home and it had a bun on it. I removed the bun, rinsed the burger off, reheated it, put it on a gluten-free bun and gave it to my daughter. I then felt horrible not long...
  24. Everyone is different. I know people with GERD who also can not have onions and peppers. None of those things bother me. What does bother me is dark chocolate. The pain! Oh mama! You should also invest in a GERD wedge pillow to sleep on. Or failing that, put some blocks under the head of your bed to raise it up a couple of inches.
  25. Only the sugar alcohols make me sick. I drink drinks containing Aspartame all the time. Drinks with Splenda once in a while. I don't add the sweetener. Just drink things containing it. Use powdered Splenda maybe twice a year in cranberry salad.
