ARCHIVED Would This Work With gluten-free Oats?
Juliebove posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Open Original Shared Link I have not seen quick cooking gluten-free oats. Would this work if maybe I lightly chopped the oats in the food processor first? Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Question About Igg Vs. Ige Testing
Juliebove replied to laura4669's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
IgE are the true allergies. The kind that can be life threatening. IgG are sometimes known as intolerances. Both can be tested for via blood test but when we were tested for IgE they did the skin prick. I have IgG allergies and I do call them allergies because they make me very sick. I have an issue with garlic. It too makes me sick but it does not... -
I've been there several times but not for many years. I did stop in some place for a quick drink (not alcohol) on the one time that my plane came in about an hour late and I didn't have to find things to do because my next flight was much delayed. I can remember sitting around a lot, buying drinks and using the bathroom. But I don't remember eating anywhere...

Tomorrow will be gluten-free pasta with red sauce. I will add a little ground beef that I have already cooked and put in the freezer. Have to have a quick meal before dance class. -
ARCHIVED Sick Of Being So Different
Juliebove replied to GFMochi's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can sure relate to that! I don't have celiac but I do have food allergies and diabetes. My mom always asks me what kind of cake I want for my birthday. I always say, "No cake! I don't eat cake." I have asked for this for many years. Even before the food allergies and diabetes. I just do not like cake. One year they got me pie even though I didn... -
ARCHIVED Hosting A Party

Hummus cups. Or Greek salad cups. Start with cucumbers. Cut them into thick chunks, about 1" or so thick. Use a melon baller or small spoon to hollow them out so that they are the shape of little cups. Fill with homemade or prepared hummus. Or Greek salad. For that you can use some of the removed cucmber. Chop it up and mix with some finely chopped... -
ARCHIVED French Fries
Juliebove replied to es2443's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is a very old post. Of course fries in and of themselves could be gluten-free. Or they could not be. Often the fancy ones like curly or waffle cut have additional things added and that could include gluten. Or it could not. But the biggest issue would be what else is fried in that oil? If things like chicken nuggets, flour tortillas, or even onion... -

We have to have a super quick to fix meal tomorrow so I'm heating up a turkey breast that is already cooked, making instant mashed potatoes with water and Nucoa only (no milk) and I'll probably pop open a can of green beans. -
ARCHIVED How Do You Know If You're Intolerant To Soy?
Juliebove replied to RachelisFacebook's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My daughter used to have an IgG allergy to it and when she ate it, she would get stomach pains. She also got weird rashes from it. -
ARCHIVED Food Addictions: Cheese Etc.
Juliebove replied to YoloGx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My mom, daughter and I all have IgG allergies. My daughter and I do not like to feel sick so we totally avoid those things we are allergic to. My mom however tends not to avoid those foods and claims that she has strong cravings for them. I guess we're all different. -

ARCHIVED Rice Dream

The barley is mentioned right on the cartons. They can claim to be gluten-free because they test under a certain amount. That's why. -
ARCHIVED What Type Of Flour To Use In Chili?
Juliebove replied to Bugsly's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have never put flour in chili. Just chili powder and sometimes some cocoa. -

He wasn't allowed to have those things. Just a little oil for cooking occasionally and I think some herbs. Not sure about salt. I read it elsewhere. Sounded very interesting! -

Leftover pot roast makes the best soup! I would also add some veggies such as onions carrots and celery at a minimum. Maybe also green beans, corn and peas. Heat it through and then add the noodles since they are already cooked. -

I had a big bowl of leftover cranberry salad and a prepared falafel wrap from the grocery store. The wrap wasn't gluten-free but I don't need gluten-free. The store does make prepared falafel patties and I do get those sometimes. They are gluten-free. I also get some lettuce and tomato slices from their prepared food bar. We make sandwiches out of them... -

ARCHIVED Simple Meals & Snacks With Dairy
Juliebove replied to KevinG's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just buy a big block of cheese and cut it in cubes. Aerosol cheese on celery. Cottage cheese with some finely minced red onion, freshly ground black pepper and some finely shredded sharp cheddar. Whip with an immersion blender. Use as a dip for raw veggies, chips, crackers or small pieces of gluten-free bread. -
ARCHIVED Pie Crust Help! 911!
Juliebove replied to hunter6009's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I tried a pie crust once and it was gritty. SIL's sister is a baker and she made a gluten-free pie. The crust was gritty. Actually most gluten-free baked things tend to taste gritty to me. I gave up on doing pot pie. Now I just make chicken stew. -

We were out all day too. Early lunch at Olive Garden for SIL's birthday. They all had cake and ice cream. Daughter had some gluten-free cookies and ice cream. I tried a bit of a cookie. Tasted oddly burnt to me. I can't remember the brand but I think I read here that they are sold at Starbucks. I've just never seen them at Starbucks. After that... -
ARCHIVED Friends' Reactions To Gluten Free Food
Juliebove replied to mushroom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My daughter is the gluten-free one. Most of the time her friends just flat out refused to eat any food that I made or bought for her, fearing it would be strange. It could even be something that is naturally gluten-free like an apple or some chicken and rice. I guess they just don't understand. Then at her birthday two years ago, we bought some kind... -
I had been making tuna casserole that daughter liked but I hated. Since we can't have dairy, I couldn't use cream of mushroom soup. I know Campbell's isn't gluten-free but I read that some other brand is. Anyway... I was sort of making my own using a combination of fresh and dried mushrooms, onions, rice milk and olive oil. I just didn't like the taste...

ARCHIVED I Made Yucky Bad Stuff.
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
The bread did call for vinegar. I can't use yogurt because we can only have dairy twice a week. Daughter and I were once allergic but outgrew the allergy. We were told we could not have it too often because that could make the allergy come back. So on things that I think might have leftovers, I try to leave the dairy out. The thing that really gets...
