  1. I use the recipe here on this site (not this forum) but sub in flax meal and water for the egg. It's really yummy!
  2. You're not supposed to add oil with noodles of any kind. I don't know who came up with that idea! You need to start with a HUGE pot of boiling, salted water. If there's not enough water and it's not boiling, you'll have problems. I have Rachel Ray's Oval Spaghetti Pot. I use it for all my pasta. I never have trouble.
  3. Someone once posted here that they found a powdered sugar that was not safe. I think it was the Walmart brand. To be safe you need to check every label. Even though something seems like it would be safe, it could always be processed on equipment that processes wheat, barely, etc. That being said, I've never found an unsafe sugar. But then, I don't...
  4. I get hummus cups at Costco or shelf stable single serves of hummus from minimus.biz. My daughter takes one of those with a bag of baby carrots and a bag of apples almost every day. She might add a package of Enjoy Life cookies, or a bag of chips along with this. Sometimes she takes a pepperoni stick, some beef jerky, string cheese or a coconut yogurt...
  5. I'm not really Italian. Just my married name is!
  6. Hmmm... I don't know then.
  7. Sorry, I buy my hummus. My mom made it once but it had an off flavor. I don't know if it was bad tahini, too much tahini or what.
  8. I ran into trouble with the produce. I was getting a box from my CSA. It was cheap but we could never eat it all and I was always throwing stuff away. Finally I realized that the only two things my daughter and husband would always eat were sliced apples and baby carrots, neither of which was in that box! So I buy those all the time now. Apples from...
  9. I can't have soy or dairy. I add green leafy vegetables to my food whenever I can. Plenty of calcium in there! I also take supplements.
  10. Do you have a freezer? If so, you can buy bulk meats and repackage them. Even if you don't have a big freezer you can buy some meats that you eat a lot of and repackage them. We buy as much as we can at Costco. That saves us a lot. I have to be careful though because much of what they sell comes in packages that are just too large for us. I was...
  11. We had lunch there again today. Not so good. Asked for the croutons and dressing on the side. Waiter brought the salad and there was a crouton on it. My mom banged her hand down on the table and rolled her eyes. Said she was going to pick it out. I said, "Fine! Pick it out. We're not eating it." She and my dad were angry with me. Dad tried to get...
  12. For a long time we had no problems at BK. But the last two times were bad. Salad with cheese on it. That never happened before. And buns on the burgers. The lady even had the audacity to say I never told her "no buns". The manager freaked and we got the right food but I am not so eager to go back.
  13. Thanks! I will look for that.
  14. I like a little bit of it. I also like pine nuts. Thanks!
  15. Thanks but can't do eggs or dairy.
  16. Thanks!
  17. What I do is cook up ground beef and chicken breasts for the freezer. Then all I have to add is some rice (I often buy precooked in a pouch), pasta or potatoes and a vegetable.
  18. Not really. Daughter is allergic to peanuts and we're both allergic to almonds. Neither of us really like any of the other nut butters. I don't like garlic. Someone gave me a soy sauce recplacement recipe but it seemed rather complicated so I never tried it. I don't really like soy sauce that much to begin with. Thanks!
  19. Maybe with bacon. I'm not a big sausage lover. Thanks!
  20. I just cleaned out my cupboard and I have all kinds of pasta. Just too much of it. Daughter and I started eating a lot less of it since we ran out of our faux parmesan cheese. Pasta with red sauce just is no good without some sort of cheese. Guess I will go back to the nutitional yeast for the time being. It's better than nothing. I have some large...
  21. The other day I was watching a show on PBS and the guy was saying how importatant it was to put down "loom" under your patio so it didn't slide around. The word he meant was "loam". Then later, these two guys kept talking about the "PIE-laster" they were putting around the fireplace. I couldn't figure that one out, thinking it had something to do with...
  22. Soy. Blah!
  23. The amount that's in there is so small they don't have to claim it. But it's there!
  24. Rice Dream is not gluten free. AFAIK all the other brands are. But there is at least one that contains soy if you are avoiding that.
  25. We ate at the one in Lynnwood WA a few weeks ago. Because I am dairy allergic, the server grated cheese in the kitchen and brought it out in a dish so she wouldn't accidentally get it on my food. No problems, but I don't have issues with wheat. Just dairy, eggs and almonds. Daughter does have a wheat allergy but didn't get sick.
