  1. My daughter likes the Ener-G Rice Starch and the Flax bread. She prefers it if she can put it in the microwave for 10 seconds before making the sandwich or put it in the toaster. But she can't always do that.
  2. Wow. I've never had that happen but I have had tomato soup leak. I was afraid to put the lid on the thermos really tightly.
  3. My daughter just tried Enjoy Life Flaxseed bread. It smells just like the Flaxseed bread I eat. I didn't try it but she loves it! Keep in mind that probably all of your condiments like mayo and mustard have been glutened. And you'll want to get a new toaster.
  4. I didn't know they had a gluten-free menu. I was in there many years ago but they were super crowded so we didn't stay. I will keep them in mind if we are ever out that way again.
  5. You might be on the wrong dose. I had it when my thyroid was out of whack. In my case it was too much med.
  6. Tonight there was a commercial for their new product that makes small cakes with fondant. Daughter said she wanted it. I reminded her how bad the cupcake maker was. But then she insisted she make a cupcake. I told her she could if she got out the mixes and stuff. And guess what? The box of refills said it was vanilla cupcakes with vanilla...
  7. Hard boiled eggs are great! Before I developed the egg allergy, I bought 2 dozen at a time, boiling one dozen. I would mark the boiled ones or tint them lightly with food coloring or leftover Easter egg dye so I knew which ones they were. You could make a frittata or something similar of eggs with some veggies and/or meat. Cut in wedges and eat cold...
  8. The ones for the cupcake maker do say that. I haven't seen the others. Daughter was less than thrilled with them not only for the taste/texture but for that reason and the fact that they include egg and/or dairy.
  9. We used to live in NY so ate at the diners in NJ many times. Are you sure they put bread crumbs in their burgers? I have never actually seen such a thing, although on a cooking show I did see them put eggs. I would think that a diner would be the perfect place for a gluten-free meal because they have such large and varied menus. The only problem I...
  10. We just got two at Target. They are wide but short. They have a handle. The only problem was that I was afraid to heat the food in them as it said you could do. When I have done this in the past with other models, there was like...a vapor lock and she couldn't get the lid off. So no lunch for her! I heated the food in a separate container but perhaps...
  11. It is not at all like the Easy Bake Oven. You have to bake them in the microwave and then use the unit to ice the cupcakes. The unit was very difficult to clean, if it worked right. We had one cupcake that got hurled to the floor. In total, my daughter made three cupcakes. She wound up icing the third one by hand because it just didn't work right. She...
  12. Here's what I do when I am sick and need soup. I start with some gluten-free broth. I always keep this onhand. If I have an onion, some carrots and celery, I chop them up and put them in the broth and cook until tender. I also add a bit of dried parsley. If I don't have the fresh veggies, I always keep some freeze dried onions and carrots in the house...
  13. I've done the same thing that you do, but I also use freezer bags and will put the smaller bags into a large freezer bag. For frosted cakes, I cut in individual pieces and then put in rectangular plastic containers.
  14. I bought a loaf of this a few months ago and just got around to opening it. I was very annoyed that the whole top of the loaf had broken off. But I used the two largest pieces anyway and made a partial sandwich for my daughter. Her first reaction was that I had accidentally used my bread. I sometimes buy Flax bread from Silver Hills that is not gluten...
  15. Yikes! I don't think I've bought anything of that brand since we were diagnosed. Not sure why though.
  16. Indeed! Although I am lucky in that there are several stores here that sell gluten-free products, we do have additional food allergies and I find I often have to send away for special food. It does get very expensive. I find myself getting annoyed on nights where we are at the dance studio all night. So much fast food and takeout around there. But...
  17. I don't know what kind of diet she's on. I have Psoriasis and have never heard of such a thing. The only thing that seemed to help me was Turmeric. I take it in capsule form though. Don't like the taste of it.
  18. Heavens no! First they lied about the French fries and said they were vegetarian. There is beef in the fat used to cook them. Then they didn't disclose the dairy and gluten in the fat for the fries. Now they do. And now they have the Angus seasoning with wheat in it. Plus almost everything on their menu has a bunch of crap in it. It is not wholesome...
  19. Yikes! I think I would freak.
  20. I had it for months following the diagnoses of my diabetes. I do not have celiac and didn't know of my food allergies back then. I drank a lot of weak black tea, chicken broth and of course, water. Ate mostly chicken and rice, boiled eggs, cottage cheese, some applesauce and did eat white bread, toasted, with no butter or margarine. Perhaps you could...
  21. I will look for them! Hopefully they don't contain soy...
  22. I usually use the Ener-G brand because it's already made, it's easy and it tastes fine to me. Prior, I used the Namaste brand mix or a Foccacia recipe for the dough. We recently purchased a kit from Ian's. Haven't made it yet. When daughter was first diagnosed, I would just put on sauce and meat. It was okay. I've since used rice cheese or another...
  23. My daughter likes Enjoy Life Snickerdoodles, chocolate chip, apple and lemon. She did like the brownie but went off of them. She also likes the Andean Dream chocolate chip, but not the other flavors.
