  1. I had some but never knew what to do with it so threw it out after it got really old. Can't remember where I bought it but maybe online.
  2. I tried one a couple of times. Either Hagman or Fenster. Can't remember which. Required boiling in sugar water, I think before baking. Daughter liked the end result, but... They tasted nothing at all like a bagel and there were so many of them! She only wanted one and then no more. We can't do the Pamela's because of the almonds.
  3. My guess is the black beans or tortillas. Why? I have seen that the Great Value brand often now claims to be processed equipment that also processes other things, or may contain, or something of the like. I don't know personally since our Walmart has no grocery in it. I also think I read about that brand of tortillas that they used to say gluten-free...
  4. I think your main problem would be keeping the gluten-free stuff free from cross contamination. Could you do that? In other words, use separate pans and utensils and make sure that not a speck of regular flour got in there? Also in just addressing the ice cream itself, that could create a problem. Even though the ice cream is gluten-free, the scoop...
  5. Honey works well but might not be the flavor you want.
  6. My brother used to eat his biscuits with honey on them. Yuck! I hate honey! But he also said he didn't like them. Why? Because the ones my mom made were always covered with flour on the outside. They were shaped like hockey pucks, didn't rise a lot and were pretty dense. She may have made them from scratch when I was young, but in later years I can...
  7. It does sound like the dog is grooming the cat. When my cat was overweight (she's also elderly) she developed dry skin on her back. The vet said she couldn't reach her back so I needed to spend some extra time grooming her there. Could be the dog is doing this for you.
  8. Good thing you can have dairy! I can't. Never did like sour cream. I have to use rice cheese on mine and I use refried beans. They're good but not like the real thing.
  9. We went there today. Were told that the dressing is NOT gluten free. We had the pasta. I thought it was okay. I am really getting sick of pasta though. Daughter loved it.
  10. I just now saw this. Don't know how I missed this when it was first posted. Daughter is 11 now and no longer does this. BTW she does not have celiac, but food allergies. She used to have fits like this far more often before we learned of the food allergies at age 6. I do not know if the fits she had after were related to allergies or not. We do...
  11. My daughter and I always get the popcorn here. It's soooo good! I was talking to someone tonight who said in NY they use Vienna brand hot dogs. These are gluten-free. Does anyone know if all of the Targets use the same brand? I am in WA. He said the hot dogs are very good and I would like to get one for my daughter, minus the bun of course. ...
  12. Some of the teachers have microwaves in their rooms but the kids are not allowed to use them. One year a teacher did let her heat up her pasta after I forgot to do it. It was in a thermos type thing that was supposed to be able to go in the microwave. What we discovered was if I did that, we couldn't get the top off again. This year her teacher said no...
  13. I bought some when we first moved in here. They were not expensive and still have a good scent although not as strong as they used to be. I have never made them, but the problem I've had with stuff I made from found pinecones is that they tend to be sticky/dirty.
  14. The pierogi we get here are filled pasta. Usually potato and onion or potato and cheese.
  15. These are not the best for use on stage though. The lights can make them look powdery and the colors usually aren't intense enough.
  16. Alas, my daughter's school has done the pizza thing a lot! One year they even won a party for finding some missing keys. What I did was make a small pizza for her and bring it in a pancake warmer (like a tortilla warmer but bigger). If I could not bring the hot pizza in, then I just made it the night before. I sent it cold and she had to eat it cold....
  17. If he has access to a microwave or can use a thermos, you can make chicken and rice or Spanish rice. Daughter loves canned chicken mixed with plain white or brown rice. I used to add peas but she is now allergic so I add celery, carrot and onion along with a little chicken broth. Sometimes I use gluten-free pasta instead of the rice. For the Spanish...
  18. Hmmm... I just did a seach and although the links it turned up are old, it indicated that Dawn is gluten-free.
  19. Dawn is not gluten-free? Hmmm... I just bought some. Haven't used it yet on the dishes but daughter has used it on her oily hair. Could explain the weird rash she now has on her face.
  20. No, you shouldn't use it. The oatmeal may or may not contain gluten and you'll never know. Some people get a reaction from putting it on their skin.
  21. The fries are NOT soy free if you get their seasoning on them. I do not know what kind of oil they use. Most restaurants use soybean oil. We don't worry about the oil but we usually don't eat soy protein.
  22. I realize this is an old post but I could have sworn that most of the foods they serve contain gluten. Could be one of our other allergens though. I know there is dairy in the green beans.
  23. Thanks! We can't have the dairy but I could probably do them like I do the faux ones. And I will for sure try this with a beef filling for Ravioli.
  24. This is good to know. We occasionally run across hotdogs on a buffet. I realize they are probably the cheap kind but I always worry that they might be Nathan's. Now I don't have to worry.
  25. I don't know why I didn't see this until just now. Daughter loves turkey in gravy over mashed potatoes. I use canned turkey. I pour the turkey and liquid in a large, deep skillet, then add some sweet rice flour and stir it in while heating. I then add some turkey broth and heat through. I imagine you could do the same without the turkey. You'd probably...
