  1. I could be wrong but I think you need to buy the kind that says it is for popping. I got mine from American Spice.
  2. For sure it was the pizza parties! The school was having them every time I turned around. When she was younger, she couldn't have dairy or soy either. So there was no prepared pizza she could eat. I bought a pancake warmer. Like a tortilla warmer but larger. I would make a single serve pizza for her, line the warmer with foil, put the pizza in and take...
  3. I buy the Wylde pretzels from Ener-G for my daughter. No soy in those. You do have to be careful though because the Ener-G brand do contain soy and they look a lot alike.
  4. The only kind I've had success with are muffins. I make the zucchini bread recipe from this site, leaving out the nuts and eggs and subbing in some ground flax meal. I do them as muffins because that just seems to work out better for me. If I do a loaf, there is no way we can eat it all before it goes bad, and it seems to be easier to freeze the muffins...
  5. I got some sorghum for popping and popped it for the first time. I used the same oil that I use for popcorn but made the mistake of using the same amount I would use for popcorn. And this was too much! I tried to blot some oil up with paper towels but it had already started popping. I also took it off the heat too soon. Thought it was burning but it...
  6. Hmmm... Daughter used to have this but doesn't know. I had assumed it was caused by dairy. But she outgrew her dairy allergy, now has some dairy and no bumps. She also outgrew the gluten allergy but not wheat. Because of this, her diet is still mainly gluten-free, but it did open up a few possibilities like barely and malt. Still no bumps!
  7. I too tried the chicken noodle. I found it all to be good except for the chicken which was oddly dry and tough. Other than that it tasted fine. Not exceptional though.
  8. I have bought Sweet Rice flour from the Asian section of our local market. I don't think I will any more. Too many other reliable sources. I have occasionally bought fresh produce from a big Asian market, but usually it isn't that good or fresh. Have bought some candy for my daughter. I've bought little serving dishes. And I buy my brooms there. ...
  9. I did the cookies in bar form then drizzled them with melted Enjoy Life chocolate chips. Yum!
  10. I just found these at our local Central Market. Apparently they were havning some sort of big gluten-free event. I should read the flyers they send me more often! Got a gluten-free chocolate cake as well. Daughter tried the chicken noodle soup. Said it was just okay. Wah! I was hoping to find something for quick dinners. Doesn't sound like she...
  11. Too bad they have soy in them. Otherwise I'd try them!
  12. Won't touch them because... They also contain milk. I am no longer allergic to dairy but was told not to have it because the allergy could come back. And it seems each time I have eaten cheese since then, I have thrown up. So no go for me. Daughter is also allergic to wheat. So for her it's not just the gluten. They have lied too many times for...
  13. People have posted before that the chicken has wheat in it. I do not think there is anything there that is safe in terms of being gluten free.
  14. I can eat apples, pears, strawberries, cranberries, grapefruit, lemons, limes, and other berries with no problems. But melon? Oh my! The stomach pain is so horrible I can barely move. I'm not allergic. So I don't know what it is. Someone surmised it was sorbitol. I don't do well with that.
  15. I would say, "no"! It would be far too easy to get shampoo in your mouth. All it would take would be a slight bit. My daughter is contact reactive, but hers is an allergy and not celiac. I accidentally used a bath product with wheat in it on myself and the slight residue left behind gave her a rash. Never again!
  16. That's a very dangerous and stupid thing to do! Even though she might not be having symptoms, damage is being done!
  17. We went totally gluten-free at first. But then my husband began complaining. Eventually I did buy him some things. Prepared sandwiches, cereal, crackers and cookies. He eats these in a different part of the house on paper plates. And now I too have some gluten. I buy bread and use a separate toaster. Don't do that too often any more. I also have...
  18. Thanks! I added a couple of comments.
  19. Okay dangit! I went to your link and now am hungry for a burger! I'm in Bothell, so that's a bit far for me. I'm having dinner at Mongo's in Clearview. Open Original Shared Link I always get the burger with no bun and no cheese. No gluten issues for me, but I can't have egg or dairy. The buns might actually be safe for me. Never checked. I do...
  20. Some of it is safe. I was shocked to discover this after thinking for years that we couldn't have it. Then one day I took to reading labels because I found yet another recipe that called for it. Up until then I had been leaving it out.
  21. It's possible she is still consuming gluten and not realizing it. For example... My mom has food allergies. She annoys me no end because she keeps eating that which she is allergic to then complaining when she is sick. The other day it was eggs. She made a big deal about how she wasn't going to eat eggs at dinner. Then ordered waffles. When I pointed...
  22. Whey is gluten free. It is a dairy product. Many celiacs find they must avoid dairy. If you're one of those, then you shouldn't have it. I don't know about dextrose. AFAIK, it can be made of many things. But if you are in the US, they would have to disclose it if it were made of wheat.
  23. I believe they have soy lecithin. I am pretty sure that the chocolate chip cookies does. Not really sure if the others do, but I kind of think so.
  24. If you live near a Costco, you can get plenty of "regular" things there. Like meat, cheese, plain rice, fresh and canned vegetables and fruit. We also get olives and some kinds of broth and spices. Of course you do need to check labels. I am lucky in that the little health food store just around the corner from me is owned by a celiac and has the best...
  25. We tried some kind of Teff wrap but didn't like it at all. Daughter sometimes likes the rice tortillas, but sometimes not. I have yet to see corn tortillas with wheat in them.
