That would not be gluten free by any stretch of the imagination. Not only that, but you shouldn't use the same pans that have been used for gluten containing items, unless perhaps your food is on foil. I'm sorry you're having such problems with your dad and stepmom. Sounds to me like nothing in your kitchen would be safe for you to eat if they are this...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Gravy
Juliebove replied to Mommy2Many's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Depends on what you are putting the egg in. For some things I use ground flax mixed with water. I don't really measure, just do it till it looks right. We just make a chocolate cake tonight and used Ener-G egg replacer. You can also use mashed banana in fruit flavored things. -
ARCHIVED Buying gluten-free Food's Through An Hsa
Juliebove replied to Eric-C's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The same applies to me. And oddly, most people do not know this. I have spoken to countless people who claim they do this on their taxes and didn't know. Makes me wonder if they are doing it correctly. -
ARCHIVED Tinkyada Pasta
Juliebove replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't normally rinse it but if I'm going to make pasta salad, I put it in cold water. If I have a small amount and want it cold right away, I would use cold water to rinse. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Food Is Sooooooo Expensive!
Juliebove replied to Chattyaholic's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can easily eat a box of Ian's chickn nuggets in one sitting. Thankfully they are not quite that expansive here. You might check this site and see if you can get food through the Angel Ministry. Sadly, I can't get it here. Open Original Shared Link Mostly we try to eat foods that are naturally gluten free. Rice is no longer really a cheap food... -
ARCHIVED Mexi Corn
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Okay, thanks! We are eating dinner now and this stuff is REALLY good. Daughter doesn't like the black beans so much though so I'd rather do it without. -
ARCHIVED Tinkyada Pasta
Juliebove replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I usually buy it at my health food store (Tru Health) because it is cheaper. But I have seen it at pretty much all of the grocery stores around here, although they may carry only one or two kinds. I have also bought it online at various places. -
I just got a recipe out of a magazine for a potato pie that is sort of like a cottage/shepard's pie. Called for cooked ground beef, a can of Mexi corn, can of creamed corn all mixed together then topped with mashed potatoes and baked. I only tried one store but they didn't have any Mexi corn. They did have Southwestern corn (a discontinued item) and...

ARCHIVED Need Dip For Veggies That's Is gluten-free And Dairy Free
Juliebove replied to mytummyhurts's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You could do a nacho nut cheese. Raw cashews, an orange, a red bell pepper, a hot pepper and a bit of nutritional yeast mixed in the food processor. -
ARCHIVED Looking For gluten-free Spices
Juliebove replied to AlexJ72's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They will disclose any gluten in them. I don't know which ones do contain gluten (if any) but if it does not list it, they are gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Just A Friendly Reminder About Gluten Free Menus
Juliebove replied to Shess0816's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
You'd be surprised. I've requested "no croutons" on the salad and gotten them anyway. I've had them put burgers on a bun and then try to just take the bun away. I've had them bring bread to the table. Sometimes they just don't get it even when they do have a gluten-free menu. -
I was there once many years ago and remember getting some nachos at Foxwoods. We could not get in to any of the restaurants because of a 2 hour wait and I was starved. There was a little stand selling foods by some place with a lot of seats for betting. I can't remember if it was for horse racing or sports or what. I'm not sure that the restaurants there...

This is something you really have to determine for yourself. Since we have wheat and dairy allergies, they are a no go for us. Also with the new wheat containing grill seasoning on the Angus burgers that adds the aspect of cross contamination. The only things I would buy from McDonalds are the drinks, apples, plain salad and toys.

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Gravy
Juliebove replied to Mommy2Many's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Cornstarch will work but the problem with it is it breaks down when you reheat it. For this reason, I use sweet rice flour to thicken and make gravy. I use boxed broth or reconstituted pouches of concentrated broth (can get turkey), adding a bit of parsley and sometimes a bit of olive oil for richness. You could add butter if you can tolerate that. -
ARCHIVED My Health And Marriage Issues
Juliebove replied to BeckyMN's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know what you mean. I don't have celiac but I do have food allergies, diabetes and some other things that were not diagnosed in a timely fashion. My husband does not understand either. I have been accused of being lazy, mentally ill, or even just faking it. It's horrible when someone else doesn't understand. In the case of my husband, he had some... -
ARCHIVED Spiced Pecans
Juliebove replied to OliveBranch's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've made sweet pecans or walnuts in my dehydrator. This way they stay raw. Simply take a date or two and whiz them in the food processor with a little water. I have to put a towel around the food processor because the water can squirt out where the pieces connect. Add cinnamon to taste and a dash of salt. I use Real Salt. Soak the nuts in this liquid... -
ARCHIVED Fry Bread

ARCHIVED Products Labeled "non-dairy"
Juliebove replied to mushroom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sadly, this is true. People also tend to think that we can use things like Egg Beaters if we are allergic to eggs. Nope. They are in fact eggs. -
I'm okay with gluten myself but my daughter was diagnosed with allergies to wheat, gluten and other foods about 5 years ago. She has since outgrown the gluten allergy but with the wheat allergy she still mainly eats a gluten-free diet. It does open up a few foods for her like barley. Which is one thing that got her in the past. Rice Dream that is processed...

ARCHIVED Trader Joe's
Juliebove replied to pdx.lila's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Due to our multiple food allergies, there isn't much we can eat from TJ's. We do not eat stuff made on shared equipment. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Thanksgiving
Juliebove replied to KahleFamily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've never cooked a turkey from scratch. We don't like it that well, so just breast for daughter and I and legs for my husband. I do the legs in the crockpot. As for the stuffing, the only time I tried to make it gluten-free, the people who didn't need to eat it liked it but daughter didn't. The following year we just had wild rice and no stuffing.... -
I have not tried them but have had the gluten-free pasta at the Old Spaghetti Factory. It's good.
