  1. Oh foolish one. If only it could be done. Nothing is ever put to rest where gluten-free is concerned. best regards, lm
  2. I have had two countertop convection ovens and I use them a lot. I cook chicken breasts often and it not only is faster, uses less energy, doesn't heat up the kitchen, but it bakes/broils a beautifull piece of chicken. I've never used a pop-up toaster. To me, real toast was putting the butter on the bread first, and then toasting. Of course, just like...
  3. Good suggestion. They're pretty good right out of the box. Really sweet. The chocolate chex are good treats also. We now have all the gluten-free varieties available here and I like them all. The rice chex are the only one's I have to add some agave nectar to sweeten up a little. I like to add some blueberries also. best regards, lm
  4. I never worry about it and haven't had a problem in 2
  5. My doctor ordered one of Prometheus's other screening panels. I think it included Crohn's, etc. The results indicated a possible Celiac risk. He then performed an endoscopy which positively confirmed it. I think the test was $450. Money well spent IMO. He was the third doctor I tried. The first two knew nothing about nothing. best regards, lm
  6. I'm curious where wheat, barley, or rye would come from to contaminate nasal sprays. Are there any nasal sprays that are known to contain gluten? best regards, lm
  7. IMO, there are two basic types of gluten-free crackers. The "poker chip" kind, such as Mary's Gone, Almond Nut Thins, the one's at Sam's etc. These are hard as a rock chips, not really what I think of when I want a cracker for soups or speading butter on or cheese, peanut butter etc. Plus they often are loaded with sesame seeds. Sometimes I feel like sesame...
  8. I don't know (I didn't ever know it did), but I went to tacobell.com and got an allergen chart like the one in the post above. It also said in fine print: "The allergen information displayed on this page is based on standard product formulations and is current as of June 8, 2008. Variations may occur due to differences in suppliers, ingredient substitutions...
  9. With all due respect to msc, the Taco Bell link referenced above states that some Tacos, Tostados, Beans, and some other items do not contain wheat. Now it may very well be that these items also include potential for CC. That's always a judgement call for any Celiac. After all, they are touching gluten and non-gluten items at the same time. I've eaten...

  11. Corn Pops were my absolute favorite cereal. #1 thing to remember when a Celiac. Must read all labels. No wheat, barley, or rye. best regards, lm
  12. Yeah, there's pros and cons for each format for sure. And it has nothing to do with the mods doing a good job or not, it's a basic decision the board owner makes (what kind of forum he wants). I'm certainly not complaining about anything, just inviting a discussion. Lets see, what does each type offer? Combined "pinned" threads: ~ Obviously...
  13. The recent "Chex" threads here on the forum have said the company is phasing in the introductions of the gluten-free Chex cereals. That's exactly what I've seen here in the DFW area, ie. it's not happening all at once. What I have noticed, is when they finally introduce one, it's clearly marked GLUTEN FREE in big letters on the front of the box. There is...
  14. I doubt if she'll see this, as I noticed her last visit was in September. But happy birthday to ebrbetty, wherever she is. Phoebe Buffay and Penny Lane say "woof"! best regards, lm
  15. Hi m2g, I wish I was from a potato processing area . OK all you PPA experts ( ), I'm claiming fries expertship also. I worked at Frito Lay R&D. I helped develop "Friendchips". They are chips made from potatos flakes (as are Munchos, Staxx, & Pringles), that look like french fries. They were really good. Unfortunately, they don't make them...
  16. Sometimes I'll have a slight mid-morning bout of (not quite) D accompanied by a slight tummy hurt. Nothing real bad, but still something irregular. I suspect the cereals. Not gluten but just the grains, sugars, who knows? maybe our diets have been so restricted for so long that we just can't eat some things successfully. The same thing happens when I...
  17. That's not anything new, that's old news. Correction though, there's nary a mention of "gluten". What it actually say's is "hydrolyzed wheat is a starting ingredient". That may or may not be the same as the finished fries contain gluten. best regards, lm
  18. Please pardon me, but I believe the above statement is seriously erronious. First off, being from a potato processing area does not automatically make one an expert on fast food fries. I'd have to see some more credentials than that. Did you actually work in a potato processing plant that makes fries for Mcdonald? Secondly, each fast food business...
  19. OK hp, sorry. My apologies to you ENF. BTW, I love your avatar. I use to watch the Rocket Man serials at the theaters on Saturday mornings when I was a little kid. Wasn't it great that he would just look down and turn his giant dial from UP to Down to control his flight. Also, with all due respect, that nonsence about seceeding is our glorious republican...
  20. Gee, I wonder if I could get a handicap parking sticker. I might need to run into the store to use the bathroom real quick. Or maybe I might not even have to work at a real job. I could just get a note from my doctor. Wow, thanks for giving me some cool ideas. We could use Celiac Disease for all kinds of excuses. best regards, lm
  21. OMG, maybe we can eat Subway. Maybe it's been gluten free all this time and we just didn't know it. best regards, lm
  22. Dear BB, That depends on one thing. Are there any wheat, barley, or rye ingredients in them. That information is printed on the container. I hope not, 'cause I use HVR fairly frequently. I happen to know there aren't any gluten ingredients listed on the package. That's usually a good sign. best regards, lm
  23. Is Elizabeth Hasslebeck promoting the gluten-free diet for non-celiacs? If so that would be problematic for us. Celebrity bashing is all the rage these days. It brings attention to a nobody (the basher) who otherwise wouldn't have anything to talk about. And who reads Readers Digest anymore. Really old people keep those in the bathroom. I'm surprised...
  24. Is there any other kind? best regards, lm
  25. Welcome to the forum ahsj, It is possible for a food product to list wheat as an ingredient and yet not contain any gluten. I know it can sound impossible, but it's true. I'm not trying to say that is the case here (although I personably believe it is), because there are extremely sensitive people out there that may react to minute amounts of gluten that...
