  1. Thought I'd post some reviews of several brands mostly because they mentioned Celiac or gluten-free. Yes, I'm easily amused. Please take the opinions with a grain of salt (and maybe a lime wedge ). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open Original Shared Link by Bill Dowd Long Island lost...
  2. This link is very appropriate, "Psychosomatic". best regards, lm
  3. If you want "less is more", there's plenty of crappy tasting cereal at the health food stores. I for one am tired of that stuff. Give me the sugar, colorings, and additives - just no wheat please! best regards, lm
  4. What's the problem with a minute amount of sorbitol? best regards, lm
  5. My sympathies to anyone who believes they had a gluten reaction to Nasonex. Certainly I wouldn't use a product I suspected of making me sick. However, nothing in this thread, or the linked thread contains any proof whatsoever that Nasonex contains gluten. Yes, there is some anecdotal testimony. But as we all know, that doesn't mean a product contains gluten...
  6. Which allergy medicines are not gluten-free? best regards, lm
  7. Finally got a box of Honey Nut Chex. Will try it in the morning. We still haven't gotten the gluten-free corn chex, cinnamin chex or chocolate chex. best regards, lm
  8. I make my own, but it's quite a chore. So sometimes when I'm running low I get some Old El Paso Salsa Fresca from Walmart. It's in a short, plastic, wide mouth container in the vegetable cooler aisle. It's very fresh tasting, because it is fresh, and not chunky at all. Just like homemade, it must be kept refrigerated. I've tried just about every jar salsa...
  9. I found some new foods I liked. For me, it's nachos and hot wings. BTW, they both go great with margaritas. I also like bone-in chicken breasts cooked in my little nuclear oven. It's a Black & Decker countertop convection oven. It's got the quartz tubes top & bottom and really rocks. I had a Krupps before that and it was also very good. I accidentally...
  10. I googled rice malt. It seems to be mainly a sweetener, unlike Carnation malt used in milk shakes, which isn't sweet at all. Not only that, some do contain barley. This one contains sprouted barley. Mitoku Authentic Natural Rice Malt. Doesn't sound like a very good replacement. best regards, lm
  11. Interesting. I'd like to try it. When I lived in the country, we had a couple wild mesquite trees and I had to cut them down. They have very mean and nasty thorns, big ones are 2 inches long. I would often get a flat tire on my little tractor, a real PITA. Plus, I was always worried my kids would step on one. Not big enough for shade, with sparse folage...
  12. Great point Beth, and well put. best regards, lm
  13. Say it isn't so. "Milk" & "sugar" in cereal? "Corn" in Corn Chex? How dare they. best regards, lm
  14. Of three stores I've checked (Walmart, Albertson's, & Brookshires) only one had anything besides Rice Chex. Strawberry Chex, but not labeled gluten-free. No barley malt extract however. I ate some right out of the box while driving. Basically Rice Chex with about half the pieces coated with pink sugar. Pretty darn good though. A lot sweeter than Rice...
  15. Wow! I coulda had a V8.
  16. I can't hardly believe it. That's great news! I eat Rice Chex EVERY MORNING. Have practically since they came out gluten-free. Going to Wally World today to check out the Corn Chex & Honey Nut Chex. WooHoo!
  17. Wait 'till Wednesday night. That's fightin and drama night! best regards, lm
  18. Welcome Yasmine. bests regards, lm
  19. I don't know. Did you have a BP & chives, or a loaded one? I've had the BP & chives several times (not lately though) without incident. I use my own butter as I prefer real butter to the "air spread" they provide. Love those little packets of sour cream though. You tear off a corner of that wax paper wierdly twisted triangle shaped package (what...
  20. Of course they're going to say that, they were sued. No company that sells a product having wheat as an ingredient is going to claim it's gluten-free. Even if theoretically it doesn't contain gluten. Have there been changes to the product in the last three years? best regards, lm
  21. I don't recall anyone ever saying they were actually gluten-free. The discussion is usually about whether they contain measurable or appreciable amounts of gluten at levels as to be considered "gluten containing", ie. whether Celiacs can safely consume them. Some say yes. For others, if the word "wheat" is there, then that is enough. best regards...
  22. I'd say unless you have intolerances to milk, cream, salt, xanthan, carob bean, and guar gums, you should be ok, as none of these ingredients are wheat, barley, or rye. best regards, lm
  23. You mean if it doesn't say gluten-free? That's pretty extreme unless you've found that you are a very sensitive celiac. From what I've gathered, most celiacs can do alright by carefully reading labels, and if there is a suspect ingredient they are not sure about, then contacting the company. best regards, lm
  24. ~ Rice Chex with blueberries or agave nectar. ~ Glutino's English Muffins. ~ Glutino's crackers (I wouldn't call Mary's Gone crackers crackers, I call them poker chips ) Pretty short list. Good thing for me I don't limit my consumption to products labeled gluten-free. best regards, lm
  25. No, it doesn't. Sorry. best regards, lm
