  1. IMMP, On the website milkywaycandybar.com it has the following: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What are the ingredients in a MILKY WAY
  2. Sounds similar to a crepe batter. I had really good luck with gluten-free crepes. They're pretty easy to make once you get the hang of it , and more forgiving than gluten-free pancakes IMO. best regards, lm
  3. Whether the ingredients list wheat, barley, or rye. It's really that simple. There are no tricks. best regards, lm
  4. First off, alkali is not alcohol. Even if it was, the alcohol would be evaporated. Some think some alcohol products made from grains could present a gluten problem. Same for some grain vinegars. I'm not one of them. Secondly, chocolate processed with alkali is called dutch chocolate. The alkali, a base chemical, removes some of the acidity, makes it more...
  5. I'd say it was probably only a coincidence. Lot's of times we Celiacs get the "not feeling quite right " attacks. 99% of the time I can't say with any certainty what caused it. Sometimes, I even suspect one cause could be mental factors. I come back from a trip and discover a big box of Bisquick in the pantry. My stepdaughter has made chicken &...
  6. I planted spearmint in a pot a few years ago. It's now filled a section all around the pot, gone over a walkway, gone under a fence and started on the other side. I use it to make Mojitos. I figure if they were good enough for Hemingway, they're good enough for me. best regards, lm
  7. Are there any that contain gluten? best regards, lm
  8. Wish I could tell ya something, but I've never been there. Every time I thought about driving to El Paso, I quickly said "no thanks", it's halfway to California. Flying is the way to go. I have been to plenty of other border towns however. And as a lifelong mexican food lover, I can say that we have some of the best tex-mex right here in the metromess...
  9. I can't comment on the deli-cut meats and cheeses, as I haven't bought any in years. But, I suspect I got slightly glutened one time from the packaged thick ham steak slices. The one's that come one to a package and are about the size of a dinner plate. There were no wheat ingredients listed however, so who knows. I never got any again though. best regards...
  10. Yes. USA. Had some today, along with a double quarter pounder with cheese, sans bun of course. I was really sick for two years, got completely better immediately on a strict gluten-free diet. Going on 30 months now and haven't had a reaction to them one single time. I don't believe there is any measurable "gluten" in Mcdonald's fries. best regards...

    ARCHIVED Melatonin

Let's see, that would be 2.5 mg (2500 mcg) / by 300 mcg (1 of my pills) = 8.3 pills. You probably have a different product than I have. Mine says "Not intened for use by persons under the age of 18. Keep out of the reach of children. For adults, take one or more tablets .....". Also, ""limit use to two months with a break of one week". Yikes! Of course...
  12. Here is a copy of a post dated 4-15-2008 from another Lichen Planus thread (Actually a lichen Sclerosis post). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is so wierd. I had a strange skin condition about 20 years ago. It was only one small, smooth circle about the diameter of a cigarette. It didn't itch or cause...

    ARCHIVED Melatonin

After looking at the bottle, I am correcting some errors in my previous post. The label say's "take 1 or more tablets at bedtime as Melatonin may produce drowsiness. Do not exceed 5 mg." That's 5 milligrams, or 5000 micrograms. The pills are 300 mcg, or 300 micrograms. So the maximum recommended dosage would be 16.7 pills (5000 divided by 300). Of...
  14. Sorry about posting to an old post from a link in a new post. But that was really funny. I miss Dave Barry. He was genius. Thanks Irish Dave. best regards, lm

    ARCHIVED Melatonin

This is a funny drug in that the directions on my bottle don't say take one or two pills. It says don't take more than 3 milligrams (or something like that, I'm not home right now). Well, that could be some crazy # like 30 if I remember correctly. I only take 1 (or two pills if I'm really serious that night). And that's only occasionally. It seems to...

    ARCHIVED Melatonin

From the link: "Controversy over the Safety of Melatonin in Autoimmune Diseases In general, although melatonin is one of the least toxic substances known, it is not recommended for people with autoimmune diseases or immune system cancers because of its ability to stimulate immune function. However, in numerous studies of people with specific autoimmune...
  17. I wholeheartedly agree. For those who are limited to eating only those food items that are actually labeled gluten-free, these soups might not be an option. Then again, there are those that still get sick eating some gluten-free labeled foods. Go figure. Also, perhaps some companies are reluctant to label products as being gluten-free for a variety of...
  18. OK, I was at WM today and checked out the Cambells V8 soups. Here are the varieties: ~ Tomato Herb ~ Golden Butternut Squash ~ Sweet Red pepper ~ Garden Broccoli ~ Southwestern Corn I was short on time, and so read the labels quickly, but didn't see any wheat ingredients. There is a veritable plethora of ingredients however, so if someone has other...
  19. A few weeks ago I saw the Cambells V8 soups at Wallmart and was surprised not to find any wheat ingredients listed. So I bought the Tomato Herb. Never got to try it though as one night my wife wanted a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup for dinner. We were out of regular Cambells tomato soup so I fixed her mine. Been meaning to get some more. I hope...
  20. I'm not sure that is correct. Unless I'm mistaken, the Cambell's V8 Soups (at least the Tomato Herb) do not list any wheat on the box. best regards, lm
  21. I used to go through the whole routine of asking about the chile con carne, and the beef seasoning etc. Too much trouble for the dismal results, I've only found one restaraunt that doesn't use flour in the chile con carne sauce, so my cheese enchiladas are out. Now I dispense with all that and just order bean & cheese nachos. I fully realize there...
  22. Does anyone know of a sausage that is not gluten-free, ie. that contains wheat? best regards, lm
  23. Last one for now. Open Original Shared Link --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cirrus Vodka Bill Dowd photo This creation intrigued me because it was the product of essentially a one-man operation named Paul McCann in Richmond, VA. It was excellent.
  24. Same reviewer. Open Original Shared Link ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 44ËšNorth Vodka Photo provided The vodka flood often can best be sampled by taking them in groups. However, every now and then one deserves to be singled out for special attention.
