  1. Here is what I would check out further. 1. cat food. 2. Bar S Q: Do Bar-S products contain gluten? A: Bar-S products are gluten free with the exception of Bar-S Corn Dogs and Chuck Wagon brand franks. The source of modified food starch in Bar-S products is from corn. 3. Halloween candy. Do you know all of the brands and types?
  2. Hi Ryan, we use pinning as a way of flagging posts that have been read and approved by a moderator (meaning they aren't spam and don't contain offensive material). I don't have a good answer for your other question but I'm sure one of my fellow moderators can explain. Take care and welcome aboard.
  3. Open Original Shared Linkis what I was thinking when I saw Bufalo sauce. I used to LOVE the Chipolte but I don't know that it's gluten-free. It's a Hormel product and it's not on their gluten-free list.
  4. Carvel has a statement about gluten-free: Open Original Shared Link Gluten? Most of our ice creams are gluten-free. However, the chocolate crunchies that are found in our ice cream cakes and the sprinkles put on top are not gluten-free. If you contact a Carvel retail store nearest you, they will be more then happy to substitute the crunchies for...
  5. My elderly aunt calls it "the bongo". How about chips, salsa, guacamole, trader joe's brownies, cheese and gluten-free crackers?
  6. Me too! I'm not sure where I would be without you guys.
  7. Is it possible that they haven't fully gotten their arms around the concept of gluten-free? It sounds like they don't understand the importance of not one crumb. Maybe you can print out a few articles for them to read or buy a book. Do you trust them to make gluten-free cakes or can you send goodies? You can also stop sending your son to their houses unsupervised...
  8. I like sorghum.
  9. I am currently using Open Original Shared Linkand their recipe without oats in their feeders but am researching a few alternatives with our local extension service because nutribalancer is extremely hard to get. I also feed them a hodgepodge of brown rice, cooked beans, peas, flax seed, kelp, sunflower seeds, kitchen leftovers, etc. and free range them during...
  10. I would either bring my own food or excuse myself for the seated dinner portion.
  11. Even with the mask and gloves I wasn't feeling quite up to par so when we built our new chicken coop I started mixing my own feed sans WBRO and am finally feeling normal again. Plus, I hated having to suit up every time I went near the animals. It took my husband 4 days to scrub all of the wheat flour off of everything in the feed room of our barn.
  12. I'd recommend keeping a food diary and also keep notes about how you feel each day. Then you'll hopefully be able to nail down what is causing your problem. Revisit everything in your house and make sure it's all gluten-free. Avoid unprocessed foods and make as much from scratch using fresh foods as you can until you start feeling better.
  13. It's not stromboli but I really like the Open Original Shared Linkrecipe.
  14. that's wonderful news!
  15. oh, that's terrible. If you spoke to the chef and he said he could accomodate you then yes call him. Perhaps he doesn't understand something important about making a gluten-free meal. If he was willing to discuss with you ahead of time then I'm sure he'd be willing to review his processes with you if you approach him nicely.
  16. I think if the restaurant has a gluten-free menu and they didn't take all the steps necessary to ensure your meal was gluten-free then yes they should absolutely know about it and hopefully it will be a learning experience for them. If you contact them and they aren't concerned then I would write them off and never go back.
  17. I seem to recall the issue with Godiva is the use of barley in their natural flavorings.
  18. Having negative tests doesn't make you more or less sick or mean that this diet is optional. Gluten reactions are systemic and it makes sense that not everyone is going to be affected in their gut. I know a woman who was diagnosed many years ago when a positive response to the diet was the only test. Does that make her gluten-intolerant? If you apply the...
  19. Hi Farmerette, As far as I know there is only one study relating to inhaled gluten. I know we have several members who are farmers or live in farming communities so hopefully someone else can answer your more specific questions. Non-Responsive Celiac Disease due to Inhaled Gluten Brief: This study evaluated two patients who had nonresponsive celiac...
  20. Me too. Two times just like you. I rely on vitamin c, zinc and exercise. I also second jerseyangels recommendation of a neti pot and honey lemon tea. My husband swears by massive doses of vitamin c.
  21. I am a big fan of this one: Open Original Shared Link 1 part per million is equal to:
  22. Before going gluten-free I felt like I had a golf ball in my stomach and a softball behind my naval. My doctors could never find a mass but they really felt like masses to me. They went away after a few months gluten-free and only come back now when I've been severely glutened.
  23. Agreed. Happy birthday mtndog and all my fellow scorpios.
  24. I like to eat small meals and usually eat something every couple of hours. I don't really have any bloating eating this way but if I skip breakfast I'll feel bloated later in the day. I think it's because my digestive system needs food regularly to keep things moving along. My breakfasts are all protein and vegetables and I think that helps too.
  25. I think a positive response to the diet is the most accurate test. If your mother is diagnosed celiac and your health improves on a gluten-free diet then I would assume you are at least gluten intolerant if not celiac.
